Vi is/was(?) one of 2 champions not picked at Worlds. Could she justify getting looked at?

I haven't really played Vi ever since she started shifting from "beefy disruptor" to "lethality one-shots" but ever since Camille Vi has kind of been waffling around in irrelevance.

I do like the champion but with her current state and her well-known history for being kind of binary (I hate this word but it applies) since she's so loaded on landing her Q, it would be a good time to give her a look-over. I'd be really happy if she shifted back into that tanky, sustained menace she used to be.

edit: sorry i meant pro play this season, not Worlds

As someone who always feels too squishy when trying to go bruiser Vi, yes please. I’m tired of Divers building like suicide assassins.

Yeah they should make her more like the super balanced fighters that build item 3077 item 3078 which do as much damage as any assassin and as tanky as 90% of the tanks on those two items!

You mean like Camille?

This is a product of a whole season of bruisers REEEEing that they couldn't do exactly what they are now - being tanky mobile assassins

You know how to fix that, though? Get rid of damage in the runes... Get rid of offense in the runes.

Divers by definition are meant to either kamikaze or build 3:2:1 (offense:defense:mobility). They cant do that though unless their name is gragas or renekton though...

Hasn't there been a lot more than two unpicked champs..? I haven't seen Diana slide by in any games this year.

The only list I can find shows 81 champs picked so far, leaving a solid 60ish that haven't been picked.

I think s/he meant champs that have never been picked at any worlds, And i think the other one is illaoi but im not sure

sorry, I meant pro play for the season, i don't know why i thought 'worlds'

As far as a i know, Diana hasn't been picked all season long though

The core issue in her kit is her Q out of fog of war+ R combo is pretty much a guaranteed kill on someone. The only way I could potentially see her getting balanced is making her ult some sort of a skillshot or make it dodge-able somehow. Then they can work on improving the rest of her kit.

I mean, heca does something terribly similar with a massive E speedrush for a fat damage proc, then ult for disruption and then he commits just the same.-......same job but better performance as it is now.

Camilie locks down targets from a greater distance more reliably, scales well.

Other divers? Lee, jarvan and noc are the only ones that i can think off but 2 of them always play like assassins(good ones when in experienced hands) and Jarvan does it mainly but sometimes as a more tanky disruptor with ult....very rarely though.

why pick vi when you can go lethality noc or if you need a tanky fighter j4?

maybe they should look at getting her into toplane

Jaspers2 votes

They did, she got some changes in 8.8 for that exact reason but she's very single target, same issue as Diana, and high risk as they both jump into the enemy head first and beat their way out. But Pros wouldn't pick her there because there are just better options.

The reason Vi generally never sees high elo play: The number of Charge time countering champs in the meta are always prevalent. She cannot escape tough situations anymore.

I had a game a couple days back where I took her off the shelf. Thresh Tristana Galio JarvanIV fun team to Vi vs.

Every time I tried to charge Q, Thesh Q. If Thresh missed, Galio Taunt was faster than charging Vi's Q, and Trist was hammering.

There wasn't a single situation where I could make plays.

Vi is fine in solo q. What the 0.1% does is irrelevant. Your title is also extremely misleading.

I'm ambivalent because she's one of the few genuine beginner friendly champions out there that a brick could understand without a bazillion passive and mini things going on to think about. I honestly hope that a new champion down the line is super simple to play and understand for beginner players.

Noor Sakata2 votes

Reminded me of that last time I played her into Lucian I ult him He pressed bast cone then he ult , e , then flashed , took a Thresh Lantern, the Thresh flashed away and I died before reaching him , lmao

She is a braindead champ that does too much damage without any dmg items (because of her passive on-hit). She is neither too fun to play or play against. She has good quotes and that's it. Also, don't judge about her using pros and worlds - they play inbred meta with hypermobile champions or intentionally buffed champs (to sell current skin lines). She is OK for a balls of stats, point and click character. Any buff will make her OP. (See Jax who became OP even without getting buffed. He is another example of old design.)

Your statement is fine. She hasn't been at worlds since 2015. Camille's OPness has pushed her out of her long range, lock down a single target play style, as Camille does it with more damage and can deal with more than just a single target, has a better escape/engage.

Vi is 50% win rate, an okay but low play rate, non-existant ban rate. Simple and well designed with obvious counterplay and is very fair.

But that's not what Pros want, they want OP. :P

I think im order to fix her, one has to look at other things than here. First off, Vi is a bruiser, aka she wants a mix between off and def gear, which currently sucks for all but splitpushing. Then ther is the thing with camille beeing an overloaded design that basically does all that vi does but better.

Also, most bruisers can go full off and funktion as assasins, Vi can't really do that in high elo because of how telegraphed her kit is and how much time she spents as an easy target so if going squishy she dies befor performing her combo.

If bruiser builts were any good again and camille gets looked at, vi would probably be fine without any direct changes. And for bruiser builts to be good, the impact of defensive items, especially when not goint fulltank, needs to be increased. They don't need more damage, especially not more burst, they mostly need more time to actually applie the damage they have...
