Cut Aurelion a Break

Why do I feel like Riot is nerfing Aurelion into the ground while champs like Zed and Lucian are off the walls and are receiving no changes?

They already gave the big guy a nerf, now they are cutting down on his ult damage heavily. Like what? I keep seeing "counterplay" thrown around. What counterplay? Aurelion has such a low pick rate, almost every champ can shit on him easily. He relies heavily on his team. Anyone with CC can stop his stars and get in his face. Anyone with a dash or blink can get inside his stars and get in his face. All you have to do to counter him is get inside his stars, its not a difficult task. Anyone with CC or mobility, which is most champs, can do it. After that, you can shit on him all you want and he is running for tower. Pretty pathetic, considering he is supposed to be some giant ancient space dragon who was seen as a God.

To be honest, I feel that one of the only reasons Aurelion is hard to play is because he gets shat on so easily, but meanwhile there are champs that are incredibly strong right now who are receiving no nerfs.

Like what do you have against Aurelion? I have not seen him played, nobody does it, because you really can't unless you are God or your team really helps you out. You nerfed his damage, you're nerfing some of his utility, and now you are nerfing his ult. He could've been a great champ and I was so hyped when I learned he was finally coming out, and it feels like Riot is so afraid he might actually be strong that they continue to give him nerfs to the point where he can't be played anymore. His pick rate was a little over 1% last time I checked.

I still play him from time to time, but I am almost always countered. He is a champ I wanted to play a lot but he just gets picked on so easily. Why is he receiving such harsh punishment, but Zed and Lucian have not gotten anything? I've been hearing how horrible they have been in game. I ban Zed every chance I get.

Aurelion is barely picked anymore and you continue to nerf him yet champs that everyone is complain about are being ignored.

And that right there is the key statement. There is a small group of dedicated Aurelion mains that are absolutely destroying. If you check his "Winrate by Games Played" graph, he spikes to a whopping 65% Winrate in mid and 67% in the Jungle at 50-125 games. Even dedicated Lucian and Zed mains only ever reach 54% and 53% respectively. Obviously mastering a Champ and playing it at it's best should be rewarded, but to that level?

People claim that he's easy to counter, that he can be made irrelevant in a second, but the fact of the matter is that good Aurelion players KNOW this and know how to keep the gap between themselves and the threats. The numbers prove this.

maybe u just suck with aurelion lol

all jokes aside, aurelion sol takes a bit more niche than just spamming his ult that flies through walls and passively hitting people with 3 stars

Same here, I usually don't start doing well until later in the game, but even then I really need my team to protect me in teamfights because Aurelion really doesn't have any protection. If my team guards me, I do well, if my team has no way of cc'ing the enemy or just doesn't stop them, I usually end up dying a lot no matter what I do.

Early game I feel like I get crapped on every game.

It is actually 51%, not sure where you are checking, plus his pick rate is incredibly low so there are very few games to actually get that statistic from. You need to take into account the other factors.

Like Zed only has around an 8% pick rate, but that is due to the fact he is banned 76% of the time.

I also like the part where upon hitting 6 games played with him, his players achieve nearly a 55% winrate, and with enough player experience it caps out at a whopping 65% winrate.

Pick rate is a completely irrelevant statistic to this conversation and the sample size is more than enough to conclude that Aurelion Sol is still in a great spot. People play Aurelion Sol because they like him and if they're good at him they stomp almost every game because he is a strong champion.
