Concerns about Cho'Gath

I like the idea of making him a stacking champion(even if i hate them) but one issue i have is that he still has an AOE silence despite being able to get 6000 health building full damage. Juggernauts should not have 6000 health, CC and a silence, he already has a true damage execute that gives him permanent health. He probably doesn't need an AOE silence and CC anymore if this is the case because he'd just become broken.

In addition he can stack it off of minions, which also halves it's cooldown, refunds mana, deals a guaranteed 1000 base damage and heals him.

Edit: As an after thought, the way this could be mediated is by setting up a system where cho'gath gains health proportional to the size of the enemy he ate and whether it was a champion or not. This way if he stacks off of minions he won't have as much health as if he had stacked off of champions.

I believe the paradigm is similar as to why Sion isn't played. League is all about reliability, especially at higher levels of play.

The only thing i'm worried about is how he was already Raid Boss level once he got his final items, similar to Nasus, but now that his ultimate infinitely stacks and can also still gain all the benefits if used on a minion or monster it's worrying. Luckily it's an ultimate so it has a long cooldown making stacking hard but when used on a minion it only has a 40 second cooldown which is pretty short, a good cho'gath should have about 20+ stacks or so at 30 minutes adding around 2000+ extra HP, that's a shit ton of HP.

Cho isn't a Juggernaut.. Juggernauts deal damage.. Cho really doesn't. Because of his huge cooldowns he might actually get off one rotation in a teamfight with E & R being the only reliable damage source. Q wont hit unless setup by teammates CC.

A properly built Cho'Gath deals plenty of damage. That was never his problem. His problem was how unreliable 2/4 of his abilities are.

Chogath is plagyed by long animations and short ranges. his 1 redeeming factor was that his silence preceded it's animation, making it undodgable. to make chogath more "fun to play against" they moved the silence effect to after it's long animation.

high elo players playing on low ping will dodge abilities on animation no problems. making the only skill by which chogath can harass opponents that have tools by which to restrict trades (slows, stuns, shields, dashes speedups - i.e. everyone in the game) avoidable by those same opponents using the same tools.

chogath's value was that he had that silence to use against "I avoid everything" champions. now that his silence is no longer usable against these specific opponents, what is his place in the rift?

Q will hit, if you are playing vs the older champions that don't have spammable dashes, unless they have several MS dragons.

You will never realistically get more than 15 stacks in a game unless the game is already won. I doubt most Cho'Gaths with those proposed changes will even get more than 11 stacks in a game. You have to kill a champion with a melee range skill that only works if the champion is below a critical amount of health.

No you don't, it works on minions to and you still gain all the benefits of it, it doesn't need to be used on a champion making stacking it relatively easy, especially now that it goes past 6.

Profirix1 votes

It only works on minions up to 5 stacks...anything after is champion only...

Zerenza1 votes

That's not true anymore, that's how it was now since it would only stack up to 6 but with infinite stacks it was changed to being either champions or minions for basically infinity.

Please read the notes before you post, this was the last Cho'Gath patch update before they reverted it:

Feast (R) [new iteration of exploratory changes seen earlier in PBE.] [Change to feast mechanic - still doesn't fall off] Only 5 stacks can be gained from minions and monsters Stacks Beyond 5 now give 50% of listed health (50/70/90) 70% AP ratio removed from damage. 12% bonus HP ratio added to damage

silence is one of the weakest CCs in the game and his Q is one of the most telegraphed skills in the game

cho'gath is dog shit and the ult change hardly helps that; losing his AP ratio in exchange for health completely neuters his damage if he builds to make his ult do relevant damage.

In addition he can stack it off of minions, which also halves it's cooldown, refunds mana, deals a guaranteed 1000 base damage and heals him.

t. didn't even read the change log lmao. he lost the cooldown and mana refund and can't stack more than 5 times off minions and monsters on the PBE right now.

why are you even suggesting nerfs for this absolute troll pick champion? he needs way bigger buffs than what he's getting
