So rather than do the intelligent thing of restricting it to melee champs (as it was originally designed to be for), they're going to make it less attractive to everyone.

Riot at its finest.

They're nerfing the healing on it for ranged champions. Anyone who's melee that uses it will still get the full heal.

That means it is a nerf to Thresh, though.

why can't he be considered a melee? his range is enought low for being considered a melee (like he was used to),plus he will never build items such as item 3053 or item 3074 and atm if you are not trolling you'll never want a item 3085 ,so it wouldn't change anything

Don't know. Apparently Riot plans to buff him in other ways to compensate for it.

The problem I have with that is that they're buffing a champion on the whole premise that they will ALWAYS buy that item 100% of the time no matter what. That logic is simply ridiculous to me.

yes...i've seen many thresh building item 3301,and i don't think buffing him will make item 3302 viable on him, players will just change their builds and go for coin because they are nerfing relic build but buffing both (so while relic is being compensated coin build which atm is balanced will become stronger),as result players will go for coin anyway and thresh will become stronger, and i'm pretty sure they will proceed with some weird changes on his kit instead of reverting the stuff they are buffing

waiting for rioters saying that having thresh changing his build and becoming OP was totally unexpected

450 range AA's. Not to mention, if Riot reduced his range and made him melee, it would piss off a lot of his mains.

i meant considering his AA melee without touching his gameplay (range,AS,animation and everything should get untouched),so he doesn't get the reduced heal (and he can last hit minions with the execute passive)

even if his attack range is a bit higher than common melees,he would never abuse only melee items such as item 3053 because his kit doesn't allow him to do it,so nothing would change

Well yeah. If it doubles as a sightstone, no one will want to buy it.
