Seriously, teemo needs a rework or a buff. He doesn't work in any of the latest metas.

DropFill··55 votes·7,961 views

How long since you saw a teemo? I can tell you : for me, it is over a year. Simple because he has no space in the meta. A ranged squishy top laner in a era where top laners can do wolves easily, come lvl 2 to lane, and them shit on his face. His shrooms are also easy to counter because of sweeping lens and the river crab.

In a world where gnar exists, and , in lane, has the same purpose, but becomes a monster of CC and high base damage on teamfights, why would you EVER pick teemo?

And please, don't come with that old mindset of " we hate teemo, we don't care " . It is like "nerf irelia" when irelia hasn't the most nerfed champions of all times.

Needs a full scale rework, Sion level. Simple as that.

From game design perspective his kit is a mess. totally.

He has thematically potential tho... how about a character completly revolved around traps? Snares, landmines, shrooms, delayed detonations etc etc... as his new skin shows, Teemo is SUPPOSED to be one fucked up soldier...

Leti the Yeti8 votes

actually he's just a scout skins dont necessarily have to have anything to do with the champ

Idk, trap champs are just problematic cuz this game has never encouraged guerrilla warfare

junglerboy1613 votes

Read his lore. "Scout" doesn't mean boy scout or something like that, it means he is part of a special operations reconnaissance team, and it is also clearly stated that he is a trained and highly efficient killer who gets into a sort of mental zone when killing (or training with his traps and weapons).

Lord Graves III8 votes

I don't know if I'd say Full Scale Sion level.

The bones are there. Short effective range AP/on hit marksman with capacity to disappear an reposition. Not just traps, but scouting, ambushing, poison.

Teemo has a ton going for him. He just needs some love, and some updated spells. His W is dumb.

TonyTonyMordecai2 votes

And W doesn't scale off anything, not that that's an issue. His R is the only thing that makes me feel like I give some purpose to the team, because unless I'm against an immobile laner (top/mid) then I don't have a chance. I feel like the little guy just needs a small adjustment to mana costs (maybe) and then numbers. Maybe fix his W to be like Eve's where it shrugs off slows... Maybe.

Lord Graves III2 votes

I'd reccomend something larger scale than that, but something that keeps the core current traits of teemo. High movespeed, no dashes, autoattack focused, powerful trap ult. The issue is that this is a tall order and one I haven't really thought about to solve. Its a toughie, and I'm leaving it to riot unless I really get inspiration or something.

EDIT: If I do get inspiration, ill come whine on the forums about this great idea i had.

The whole purpose of Teemo isn't to dominate teamfights like Gnar. It's for overall map control. His mushrooms help you get objectives, get picks on the enemy team, provide vision in the jungle, constantly push waves, etc. He's not necessarily a champion that fits into the meta, he's an anti-carry. He negates the efforts of ADCs and melee carries and champions that rely on auto attacks, and helps the rest of your team take them out by making their carry weaker. He's not a selfish champion. He's a team-player champion. That's my 2 cents.

Teemo changes I'd like to see to give him a defined role (no numbers, compensatory nerfs would likely need to happen):

  • Teemo moves faster when moving towards targets poisoned by his shrooms. Gives him an assassin role, as both a cleanup champion and a "bait" champion.

  • Missing health poison damage on his Q. Fits his theme, and solidifies him more as an assassin than a "sort've kinda duelist maybe".

  • Slight shift in power to the on-hit damage on his E rather than the poison, or allow the poison to have "stacks" that increase the damage per tick, or give a current health damage effect (either poison or on-hit). At the moment, building attackspeed is only sort've good. It seems like it should be good, but raw AP and Pen, like a mage, are usually vastly more effective since the only really useful roles you have in a teamfight are "lead them through shrooms" or "blind their ADC/fighter".

  • % increase to poison damage dealt to blinded enemies.

  • Small buff to shroom reload time.

Perhaps nerfs would have to accomadate these, but frankly, there'd be a REASON to have a teemo on your team. At the moment he has no use in a teamfight and is situational at best. This'd give him a role as both a "pick" assassin, who hunts down enemies who stray onto his shroom and assassinates them while they're separated from their team. This would also give him a role as an "anti-frontline" in teamfights, who whittles down the enemy team's hp before the fight even begins so as to either deter them from engaging or soften them up for an engage from your team.

Again, numbers would have to be specifically tuned, but I don't think the issue with Teemo is necessarily his power level, I think it's that there's no team that wants the champion in their team comp. There's no reason to choose teemo over a different top/mid/jungle. This would give him a reason to be picked.

TonyTonyMordecai2 votes

I think these would probably work perfectly for his Assassin role (out of invisibility) because the only thing he has in terms of Assassin is his invisibility when idle, and his invisible shrooms that can be placed anywhere for 10 minutes at a time. I like playing as Teemo, but I think people don't want him in any team comp because of how he just doesn't work anywhere or with anyone at the moment, and how if he starts to get behind, then he will always stay behind, and there is nothing that can bring him back up to be with everyone else.

Meep Man6 votes

He doesn't need a rework, he just needs some moderate number and kit changes. His spells can probably all stay the same, but he could use some trades in power across his kit for more options. For example, I always thought it would be cool if his shrooms did less base damage, but did damage based on missing health so they didn't just take a carry out before a fight began, but were made even deadlier for those that were low on health.

I would like to see his ultimate as a skillshot... If it doesn't hit someone, it lays in the ground.

That doesn't fit with Teemo at all though. He lays them down as traps to surprise people later. It is completely based on his "guerrilla warfare" theme. Throwing them directly at enemies just isn't what Teemo should be about.

Really his shrooms were balanced around a tank meta, then they got major nerfed because everything changed when the assassins attacked. Now that we're back to a tank meta, he is probably just underwhelming. I say probably because i actually haven't seen a teemo or played as him since the shift.

Chespin20134 votes

agreed i used to play teemo now its so damn difficult to carry a team with him with how the meta has been evolving and how he is being left behind. i feel like there is little to no utility to have on a team. whenever i see a guy lock him in rank i want to dodge simply meaning because what can a teemo offer to my team. when there are many top laners or mid laners that do the job way better and without the hassle of trying to carry a teemo its sad what has become of him.

Lysdexic14 votes

So you're going to rework a champion simply because the player induced meta that shifts bi-weekly doesn't include him? Boo hoo your favorite champion won't be viable for a while. Why not just be patient instead of complaining about him, and maybe he will be buffed or nerfed either outright or by stealth. However with teemo I highly doubt it. His current kit would go from being insanely annoying to insanely overpowered if they were to buff him. His near infinite kite potential plus heavy burst AND DoT damage to go with two different kinds of CC and three built in escapes? (his speed up, mush slow and passive) The only reason he isn't pick or ban is because he is so squishy that so much as looking at him with a mean-ish expression is enough to kill him. Imagine if he was a bit more resilient. He would never die.

Mathbalnase6 votes

He hasn't been viable (in high-level play, as anything other than a narrow and mediocre counterpick) for years.

Because he draws so much hate that Riot nerfs him into the ground.

His last direct nerf was years ago. The scuttle crab was a slight nerf yes, but he can still have enough defensive shrooms to keep him safe. The giant shroom fields were unnecessary and quite un-fun to play against. The only person having fun in a game with a Teemo in it is the Teemo himself.

Silents4294 votes

No.

He fits the meta a lot better then other champions that need the changes, He really isn't fun to play against at all, and so what if the River is off limits?

He has the rest of the map to place shrooms.

His Q is still devastating to AA reliant champions, which are in pretty much every game.

His AP scalings are rather high, and shrooms can literally win games, team fights, objectives and so on.

And you mention counters to his shrooms being a sweeping lense, as if that was a counter to someone laning? Who the hell goes into lane without a yellow trinket early on? And that still requires they land it in the right spot and manage to destroy them, Which you can Q to stop.

A ranged squishy top laner in a era where top laners can do wolves easily

He isn't the only ranged squishy that does top lane, and it isn't a weakness considering he is still ranged. And if a top laner is doing wolves the jungler is going to be pissed since most junglers take wolves on the first clear.

In a world where gnar exists, and , in lane, has the same purpose, but becomes a monster of CC and high base damage on teamfights, why would you EVER pick teemo?

What the hell does Gnar have to do with this? They are completely different roles? But to enlighten you, Teemo is for map control, and being an anti adc/fighter. Gnar has is like a pseudo tank carry thing.

This isn't to say Teemo doesn't need to be changed, because he does. His kit is a mess of different things, he isn't fun to play against and doesn't fit the meta as well as he could. But he is LOW LOW LOW priority for champions that need to be updated then he does.

Rinky Dinky5 votes

"Good AP Scalings"

No.

Mathmetically proven that Teemo's AP scalings are so bad, that you lose out on 200+ damage if you do not build straight Magic Pen.

At 200 AP, Liandries increases his shroom damage more than Deathcap, by about 200-300 ish depending on the target,

Let that sink in. His E scales better with Pen as well.

His Q only surpasses Pen at around 400 AP.

Silents4292 votes

Okay.

That I can agree with

Randomly mentioning this. but Blind is supposed to be getting a bugfix soon (Quinn mains revolted), and rito said Teemo's is looking to be fixed as well.

Silents4291 votes

Why would they revolt, I saw plenty of Quinn mains wanting her bugs fixed. What bugs does Teemo have.

Rinky Dinky1 votes

That aside....

The status effect Blind itself is bugged. It does not last as long as it says, and will never block the first auto attack after the debuff is applied, and will sometimes allow auto's to still hit if the targets attack speed is high enough.

Pretty huge bug. This is confirmed to be fixed this patch.

Silents4291 votes

Don't know what went over my head, I thought the blind bug only affected Quinn since the fix is listed under her name.

Mathbalnase4 votes

Too much ragehate with his current kit. Rework first. Then adjust for viability.

flibitydoo3 votes

His shrooms aren't easy to counter though. In fact, when Season 4 rolled out and Oracles elixir got removed, everyone whined about Teemo's shrooms (and other stealth champs), so they nerfed the ratio on it.

The addition of scuttle crab does set him behind when it comes to river shrooms (but anywhere else is fair game).

In the argument of the matchup between Teemo Vs Gnar and which to pick; keep in mind that none of Gnar's cc is targetted (in both forms). They can all be dodged, which means that stuff like kalista could easily kite a gnar, but Teemo on the other hand, just blinds her and kills her.

I do think he does need a change to buff him. His "movequick" W ( a mobility only, does no damage skill,) is pitiful compared to every other mobility spell in the game.

Low range, lack of steroids ( his passive is pretty bad for a marksman as a steroid ).
