why is Riven allowed to be so disruptive?

I don’t care that she does a lot of damage

I don’t care that she can shield a bunch of damage

I don’t care that she’s mobile

I don’t care that she’s resourceless

I don’t care that she “requires skill” and unlocking this potential allows you do more on her than your average champion

Her kit as a whole does not really bother me much because she has so much potential to flop.

But for the life of me, I will never understand why she’s allowed to be so damn disruptive. She can perma CC you herself, preventing you from even attacking her. And because she’s able to stack conq quickly, you can’t really exploit her between cooldowns when she actually has them - because once she gets levels/CDR, she doesn’t. There’s no reason should be able to cancel my AAs and then turn around and knock me up 50 times in a row and disrupting my combos in the process. It’s bad enough that I have to fight her through her damage, but now I have to deal with that? It’s so ridiculous and it really needs to be removed so you can hve a fighting chance against her.

I think her design is obnoxious, but reasonable, when she actually has to finish her animations. But since Rito decided to keep almost every animation she has be cancellable after the oversight was discovered...

Horribly is an odd way of putting it. If I had to be honest, her kit is past its time for not having any decent amount of work done to it. Either she has to lose damage, or lose her animation canceling. Riot needs to accept this and not even try to balance for both sides like they have many times before. If I were them, get rid of the unintended mechanic. Its unnecessary nowadays.

I think she would be balanced if it weren't for her animation cancels. She's balanced around them now, I think. and It's been way too long for Riot to do anything about it now.

Bingo. Its why she's good with abusing Death's Dance and Conq to gain massive healing. 15% healing from DD (33% effectiveness on Q) plus another 15% (full effectiveness) for each auto weaved between q's plus the 10% from Conq, it starts to add up. And if mains don't want to lose it, might as well redesign the kit around it. Riven mains need to understand work is likely gonna be done to knock her down a few pegs no matter how they dissect the situation.

The CC of Riven is really the only reason I hate her.

I hate duelists who “duel” by preventing you from fighting back and then run when you can.

Theres this secret technique Ive been doing to literally have 100% winrate against Riven mains. Its complicated so bear with me please.

So first, start a game of draft or ranked. Click the 'most played toplaners' and go to Riven, then ban her, enjoy your fair game (unless they lock in Fiora Renekton Akali Irelia Vladimir Kled Yasuo Yorick but oh well)

First of all she cannot do that at all. When she has max cdr and spear than she can stun more often for sure, however, since she does not build attack speed she does not gain that much cdr even then. Renekton is much worse in this case. Secondly, many champions can oneshot you in late game even faster than Riven. So what is the point? If she can stun you it means you are in melee range which means you positioned yourself badly or did not know your kill pressure well enough.

Morg can't flash on you and kill you before you can react, riven can. In a game today I had 90% of my health taken by riven in 1 second at the 20 min point. I was playing malz... the riven was 0 and 7. I had a 3 level lead.

I am not saying she is ok, just that her kit is not very healthy.

Which champion cannot flash? You are saying this like flash is one of Riven's ability, not a summoner spell with 5 minutes cooldown. Yes, if a Riven has flash she will probably engage your backline with it. That is her only way to get there. I am not saying someone cannot be frustrated by her, however, there are so many champions with more cancerous kit and gameplay than her. Look at Zed. He can get close to you with his shadow then uses his point and click ult and you are dead, while he teleports away again. That is cancer. Look at Yasuo. His one dash covers larger distance than all of Riven's dashes combined. If you cc Riven before she uses her shield she is dead, if you cc a yasuo before he uses... oh wait...he does not use it because it is an autoshield so if you cc him your damage is autoblocked and he can escape with full hp. That is cancer.

Riven's entire CC combo is 1.75 seconds... literally one of the shortest CCs in the game. And it has to be chained to reach that time point. It doesn't even scale like most CCs do.

If we take away her CC, then she has to get compensation buffs. I mean, not like I necessarily mind. But you'll need to give a pretty compelling argument for what she gets in return.

I'd be down to removing her knockup, but you'd have to make her stun last longer. I'd be down for removing her stun, but you'd have to make her burst harder. If you removed the burst, then you'd have to make her sustain harder.

Riven's entire CC combo is 1.75 seconds... literally one of the shortest CCs in the game.

This is probably one of the best CC durations for bruisers. Jax have 1 sec stun, Camille have 0.75 stun, Sylas have 0.5 sec knockup and stun, urgot have 0.75 sec stun, Panth have 1 sec stun, etc. Riven have one of the best CC when it comes to bruisers for sure
