Trolls in Ranked

This game is a decently old game. Why would such a problematic feature(ranked) still be unfixed for all these years. My friends hate doing ranked. I tried to talk my one friend into doing some because he likes playing adc and the new victorious skin is 100% for an adc. Why are things like this still a thing in ranked?

Edit:My friend is the Vel'Koz no the Sivir.

People can run whatever summoner spells they want.

It has nothing to do with the summoners. They literally trolled in the game because they didnt get the role they wanted.

Okay will that screen shot doesn't depict any trolling. In fact some blitz will lane with smite so they can insta kill minions blocking their grab.

There is a problem in ranked. Now, this is inb4 people respond to this saying, "every division has trolls...so what".

Just by the fact of Bronze and Silver being the "red headed stepchild" of Lol, some kids get SEVERELY pissed when they are demoted to them.

Take for instance a Champ select I had last night. The instant we got into select, this person types, "Dodge this queue, im going to troll it if you don't." Then he/she immediately locks in Leona with jung summoners. He/she then says, "I was in Gold 5 yesterday, and I am in Silver 4 now, I want bronze...this game is dumb". So we all go to op.gg and match history and sure enough, he trolls every game. LUCKILY our last guy said he will dodge because we already picked.

Something NEEDS to be done Riot. There are anger management type kids out there that are ruining the game experience to the people that want to play ranked early in their game tenure. We have to take LP punishment for kids queueing ranked ruining it for everyone. And in this particular case, I actually asked this kid why even tell us he is going to troll before the game starts? What's the point of even queue'ing if people are dodging" He goes, "because if the game starts everyone loses, and if it doesn't, someone lost LP...so its still a win for me."

So lame. dodging shouldn't cost LP, but maybe you are only allowed like 2 dodges a day. That way you can sparingly use them, but if you use too many, then you have an LP hit.

Please look into this issue Riot!

LP doesn't matter, MMR matters. It is better to take the 3 LP loss and avoid the MMR drop, than to try to save the LP and salvage the game.

If your MMR is high enough, you will skip promo matches and even whole divisions.

If there was no negative to dodging, then a lot more people would, and it would take forever for games to start. Just look at how it was back when there wasn't an LP hit to dodging.

While what you said, on paper, makes sense...the fact remains that there are hundreds if not THOUSANDS of games a day where people are in their series, and someone is toxic already (like my example from last night). at least make it so that when in a series, you only have 1 dodge a day...and it isn't considered a loss.

Hell, even do this. You get 1 free dodge a day. No loss of LP, no recorded loss if in a series. One more dodge in a 24 hour period, -5 LP. Dodge a 3rd time in a 24 hour period, -10 LP. and so on.

That way, if you don't "abuse" it, you only get 1 freebee a day. if you HAVE to dodge another...then you take an LP hit.....something just needs to be different.

I dodge is only a loss if you are in your series. If you dodge the games that would lose you LP and play the ones that you can win, you can potentially skip that promo series that you have had to dodge out of a few times. The long term MMR gains and losses are WAY more important than LP or Promos.

Ranked is all about what makes sense on paper, not anecdotally.

If you give people a free dodge, it also gives people free reign to hold Champ select hostage with the excuse of "everyone gets a free dodge so who cares".

I think we need to give people more incentive to build a cohesive team and be more sportsman like, not give them more tools to bail on people.

I understand your view, but honestly, what is EASIER to make the game more FUN for people both playing, and learning how to play...

  1. Your solution is to fix people and behaviors.

  2. My solution is fix coding in game.

I can tell you with certainty what is easier to rectify.

Who cares about a free dodge. they won't be doing it again in 24 hours because its a guaranteed 5 LP hit. People generally aren't "abusing" dodge. If I queue for a ranked. I WANT to play it. I am not looking for an immediate way out. I only dodge when there are clear "toxic" people. And I assume that goes for most the people that play.

The free dodge is riots way of saying, "hey, we understand we can't solve all problems with people...so in a ranked, if you are in a series, 1 dodge will be allowed at no cost." BAM. that right there raises morale, and makes queueing for ranked that much more fun.

The only way to make a meaningful change in the game is to change the players.

Everyone will complain about something. You can change all the coding you like, but until you solve the problem between the keyboard and chair, nothing will get better.

Who cares about a free dodge. they won't be doing it again in 24 hours because its a guaranteed 5 LP hit. People generally aren't "abusing" dodge.

Right, because it costs them to do it. If you lessen that cost, more people will generally abuse it more.

If I queue for a ranked. I WANT to play it. I am not looking for an immediate way out. I only dodge when there are clear "toxic" people. And I assume that goes for most the people that play.

You are looking for a way out if you don't like who you have on your team. Since people are generally very opinionated about who they have on their team, people will abuse this.

The free dodge is riots way of saying, "hey, we understand we can't solve all problems with people...so in a ranked, if you are in a series, 1 dodge will be allowed at no cost." BAM. that right there raises morale, and makes queueing for ranked that much more fun.

Not if no one can queue for Ranked because most games are dodged.
