"Morde is underplayed, rework him"

LifeCyclesTWA··3 votes·936 views

Unless you are a Mordekaiser main and know the champion very god damn well.

Unless you have actually tested different build paths on Mordekaiser instead of the same ol' standard fuckin "build a revolver then go Gunblade or WotA" builds, please stop. I don't want Riot fucking with my long-time favorite champion, he is in a great place right now. Just because he is unpopular doesn't mean he is underpowered.

Don't even talk unless you have 1000+ games as Mordekaiser, otherwise shut the hell up and quit trying to fuck up my favorite champ.

As a Garen main who keeps getting nervous whenever a "Garen needs buffs" post comes along I cannot agree more. Just because someone played a few games with a champion and did poorly doesn't mean it's the champions fault.

LifeCyclesTWA3 votes

Seriously, I wish people would just stick to their mains instead of ruining good things. People meddling with things they have no/limited knowledge about is whats ruining this game. People need to stop. Thats why all of our mains are getting randomly nerfed.

But his kit is toxic and would break the game if he ever became strong! He isnt healthy like Kalista :^)

The day Yorick changes will be a VERY sad day. I still don't understand people saying that he's useless late game.

LifeCyclesTWA2 votes

Right? I used to play Yorick A LOT. His ultimate is a game-changer and his laning phase is monstrous. I feel bad for his mains :(

Elisai2 votes

Riot has already been on Riot's mind for a while. He just doesn't need it that badly yet. But he will get one. The next rework is supposed to be poppy. But don't think they won't rework your little morde. You're going to have to accept it before it comes or it will hit you hard...

LifeCyclesTWA1 votes

And its horrible. I'd try to get a petition together to convince Riot not to do it, but because Morde is such an unpopular champ and people are brainwashed by his lack of CC I doubt it'd get much attention. Its rough :/

Also Yorick is getting one too. I'm looking forward to both. Anyway you'll be fine.

Thats horrible. These reworks are a huge "Fuck You" to the veteran community and I hope they remain just as unpopular after the rework as they are before the rework. I don't understand why Riot feels the need to constantly fuck over the veterans. If I do not agree with the changes I am leaving the game, they won't be getting any more of my cash and I've spent a lot over the 5+ years of playing this game. I do not understand why Mordekaiser NEEDS a rework. He isn't gamebreaking. He has over a 50% win rate. Why fix what isn't broken. Again, they are just fucking over the veterans. I've played Mord since he was released in 2010, I can't believe this fucking company would rework and attempt to fix a champion who clearly isn't broken.

People that bitch about his lack of CC have not played nearly as many Mordekaiser games as I have. 1k+. He has so much in his kit to make up for his apparent weaknesses. But screw it. Fuck Riot.

They're revising the champions for the new League. The new league you need cc damage and teamwork... Morde doesn't have either of those. He does have damage though. He's 100% solo champion with an infinite shield... Team Work is wayyy more fun and effective than solo. They're making league to where it's when you're stronger with your teammates you can destroy. It brings the community together when a thresh and kalista pull off a 2v4.. It's heart warming. This game has nothing to do with 1v1's whatsoever. If you don't like the reworks and are sick of them. Then you can just leave cause all of the pro players LOVED the old sion... But they found that the new sion had more team play and was more effective for winning... Just understand Riot is just trying to bring wumbos together and It be amazing when a Kassadin flashs and r's right in-between cait's ult and stops it from ending your life... Team work will always be much more rewarding that way. And I am personally happy they're taking a step in the right direction. You may not like it. And that's fine. But you're just going to have to deal with it cause unless you can kill the ceo of riot I really don't think you're going to be able to stop it from happening eventually. Back to the Sion teamwork thing. People can now launch bombs from a full ap Zilian and kill people by launching it! They're bringing us closer and that's what we want. Sorry bud.

LifeCyclesTWA1 votes

Mordekaiser has the potential to turn a teamfight into a 6v4. He doesn't bring just damage, he forces the other team to build QSS and puts on so much pressure up top that their jungler is forced to camp top or lose the lane, while your jungler camps mid and bot.

Champions that bring limited to no CC, or scale more poorly, or don't bring that large of a threat to teamfights includes Renekton, Vladimir, Master Yi, and Garen. Yes, a good Mordekaiser will outscale, outlane, outteamfight, and ultimately outclass those 4 champions. The list is longer than that, but that just off the top of my head. There many champions that are not the threat Mord is and only have some soft CC to back them up. Its a load of crap that people believe his lack of CC stops him from helping his team. Few laners can put on the pressure Mord does on his laner/enemy jungler and stay alive and possibly 1v2 the laner and jungler. Dominating the laning phase and having a very damn powerful late game presence has to mean something. Its funny you said he is a 1v1 champion, when he is in fact a huge teamfight champion who is capable of winning 1v1s against most anyone that cannot kite.. All of his spells are AoEs and extremely spammable. The guy is a total monster. Why fuck him up? If anything, you should be wishing other champions could teamfight as well as him.

I doubt you have that many Mordekaiser games logged, if you could even prove it. I understand that you want people with experience talking, but you can't measure all people with the same stick; someone can understand within 10 games something that took another player 1000 games to learn.

And I'll talk about my poor experiences with Mordekaiser whenever I feel someone is asking for an explanation of my opinion. Not sorry if it rustles your jim-jims, just because I've only played him approximately 200 games and you can only see like 15 because the website's match history doesn't track the entire account's lifespan.

LifeCyclesTWA1 votes

No, I cannot prove it, however I can say I was playing the game before and after he was released and have played him damn often since. On my first account alone I logged over 800 games as him, and was the first champion I bought on the other 3, including this one. One of the accounts I leveled up exclusively level 1 to 30 as Mordekaiser, this account I have leveled from 10+ exlusively as Mordekaiser. I make accounts for my friends because how long it takes to get to 30 is discouraging and they work 9-5 jobs whereas I work 2 weeks on/2 weeks off so have quite a bit of free time on my days off. I then play pre-made matches with them and coach them so they have a full-understanding of the game, the different build paths each champion can go through, etc. I encourage them to actually play meta picks. For example, I have a friend that was Bronze 5 3 days ago and she played a lot at ADC/support. Due to her low elo, very few players on her team ever warded and she was always upset about it. I told her "Chances are if no one on your teams ever ward, chances are no one on their team wards either. Let me teach you how to jungle. You can capitalize on that." I took a few hours to show her all the different situational build paths and jungle routes for the champions Malphite, Amumu, Volibear, Sejuani, and Hecarim. Today, she is already Silver 2 and in her promo series. This one change to her style of play and her expanded knowledge of all the timers on objectives allowed to go from Bronze 5 to Silver 2 only a span of 3 days. Granted, Silver isn't anything near good but that is a rather big step and I am proud of that, and I can see her climbing the ladder to maybe platinum as she is. I'm also surprised how un-often Malphite and Amumu get banned these days, lol.

Now, through my understanding of the many champions on this game, not only have I seen how much Mordekaiser has changed over the course of the years and the ever-changing meta, but I understand his place among the champions. I understand how he was built in the past (full CDR Tank w/ Force of Nature, Sunfires (when Sunfire stacked), and Thornmail) and why that changed to the AP-burst champion he is played as now (his shield we nerfed and he was given way better AP ratios basically). I understand fully his strengths and weaknesses and where he stands in the current meta. I am not blind. He is obviously not the best champion in the game, but he is far from the worst.

I want a player that was around since 2009-2010 that understands what it is like to have played back then and to have all those champions that we had so much fun with get destroyed via these horrific reworks. See Ryze, Veigar, Taric, and Alistar. Remember when Alistar was a beast in the jungle? Hah, not even in the top 10 now, Riot is obsessed with making him only viable as a support. I want a player that fully understands Mordekaiser as champion, not someone who read some dumbass guide some wannabe-pro on Mobafire made saying "buy Gunblade or WotA first then get Sorc boots then get Zhonya's" I don't want sheep. I want people that are willing to experiment with different builds, because the popular build isn't always the most efficient. Ask Riven players, people used to think she was total shit when she was released because pro's used to build her tanky dps with warmogs/randuins and whatnot. Then some asshole started building her full-AD and fucked shit up. That is why Riven is the champion she is today, if not for that person that went against the word of the sheep, if not for that person that was dedicated to mastering and optimizing Riven, had not built her that way I guarantee she would have been reworked because she never would have reached her full potential and everyone would still believe she is a shitty champion.

I've been around since shortly after the beta ended. I've seen both of Ryze's reworks--neither one of them bad reworks, mind you--and Veigar's changes (which Veigar players today are saying that his only real problem is his unreliable W), Taric's multiple kit re-designs, and...Alistar?

Well, Alistar hasn't actually received that many direct kit changes, and most of them were buffs. The only arguable nerf was trading a free +20/40/60% damage to turrets for that Trample passive, but Bunker-Buster Alistar was not fun.

Alistar's problem right now is more that itemization doesn't favor tank junglers very much. Coupled with the fact that the jungle has been made harder for even the normal junglers--something Riot's consistently been doing, although we have no idea why--Alistar hasn't exactly been given a fair spot in the jungle. Back when Machete just increased damage to monsters, it could have worked out, but currently, it favors attacking-based junglers far more.

Ryze's rework has only just happened, and on top of it being different, Riot tends to low-ball rework power levels. I have no idea why most people view that as a bad thing; it means that freshly reworked champions aren't overpowered as hell. His new kit changes his playstyle, while still keeping the machine-gun spellcaster design.

Veigar lost the instant stun for range. Simple as that. While he needs his W to be more reliable--whether through simple delay and damage changes, or a different spell--he's not off to a bad start.

Taric...well, I don't play much Taric, so I'm not sure what he needs, but his kit isn't exactly the best piece of design. The last time we had a melee champion whose only gap closer was a stun, they were considered useless outside of a cheese build that, eventually, was also discovered to be useless (Sion). I'm not saying Taric needs that kind of redesign, but his kit is...lacking.

We have a different perspective of reworks. I honestly see them as positive changes, more hit than miss, that make the game more interesting (or at least less boring in a few cases). Yes, there are some that failed, others that didn't quite succeed, but most of them were good. Yes, Riot makes mistakes, and honestly, I don't see why it takes them so damn long to admit it sometimes; if you wanted to name bad reworks that prove this, look no further than Cassiopeia. That doesn't mean they don't have good reworks.

Wait wait wait, whoa, hold up.

Alistar's problem right now is more that itemization doesn't favor tank junglers very much.

Since Cinderhulk became a thing, I would disagree with that. The rest is spot-on though.

And as for Taric, he's a little like, idk, DrMundo, i guess. He wades into teamfights, no gapcloser, just tank stats. Then he buffs his team with ult and tears apart the enemy's armor, stunning the one (or 2 in a long fight) most important targets, and healing his team (again, once or twice in a long fight) Could definitely use some love, though. His whole game is okay, but just that, with a lot of hidden stat power that doesnt SEEM impactful.

They've only recently started adding tools for tank junglers; also, I still can't see Alistar doing very well just because of Bami's/Cinderhulk, considering they cost a lot of gold to get them in the first place. It's not quite old Heart of Gold+Philo Stone.

Well, except Mundo does have a longer-ranged slow that has almost no cooldown, making it much easier for him to engage before accounting for his ultimate's MS steroid.

But, yeah, similar anyway. Wade into the middle of combat and do things. That describes them pretty thoroughly.

Trade the Randuin's for a Banshee's Veil if you need more MR.

Our Draven and their Shen were later discovered to be bots and all other players in the game were smurfs (which means nothing without knowing their ranks, however. But note the Jinx's build, it was smart of her to build Scimitar. I still was able to grab her with my ult a couple times late game because I was able to "last hit" her with my ultimate. Doubt a Bronze-Silver player would know to build that item lmao)

Notice how even though I have no Marks or Seals and only 1 Quint, and the other team has a fed Jinx with a full rune page, I did the most damage to champions in the game while building almost full tank. This is because armor/mr make your shield is stronger, and your ghost's damage builds your shield as well.

I do not have a full rune page either on this account, but once I do this is what runes and masteries I will have:

9x Magic Penetration Marks 3x Magic Penetration Quints 9x CDR/level Glyphs 9x Armor/level Seals

4-21-5 masteries. 4 points in offense so you have 20% CDR @ 18 with runes and masteries, points in movement speed/recall/Alchemist. Alchemist is very important as you will be buying quite a few potions in the beginning.

Mordekaiser does great damage with or without AP due to all his attacks being AoEs, low CDs, and high base damage. Just stack magic penetration and do near true damage to everyone, build to be unkillable, and ghost a kill ASAP and you win fights, even when you have an 0-18 Draven and the other team has a fed-as-hell ADC like Jinx.

All my games as tank Mord have been like this, assuming someone didn't get wildly fed early in the game on the other team.

I know this account is level 21, I assure you once I get it to ranked I'll share my experiences with you. You said he does shit damage when you build tank, I will prove that untrue. His damage is awesome, if she wasn't so damn fed my output would have been much higher.

Riot doesn't really care about the strenght of a champion in their decision to rework a champion. They like to look at: a) Does the player playing as X have a lot of options to choose in order to defeat their opponent? b) Does the player playing against X have a lot of options to choose from in order to prevent losing against X.
