[suggestion] When a player disconnects, allow a Intermediate AI to take over.

Edit: AN INTERMEDIATE **

Gah just lost a 4 v 5 where our healer went afk. I was thinking of this problem and recalled how blizzard fixed the issue: when players disconnect, an AI takes over the character. Other players can ping on the bot, and the bot will follow that player.

While Its obviously not the best solution, have a bot will at least make it more likely to win a 4 v 5. Its better than the character sitting in the fountain.

Even any small amount of dmg the bot can do or cc etc, can be helpful for winning 4 v 5. If a Soraka DCs, you can still make the bot follow you around healing you.

What do you guys think? Do you think that if someone DC's their character should remain in the fountain untill they return/ end of the game? Or should an AI take over and can be commanded to follow certain players etc (so they dont feed).

If we implement this solution, then 4 v 5's may finally be fair /winnable.

Do you know how exploitable the bots AI's are? Even the Intermediate ones. Hell they don't even change item builds.

So you would rather have them sit in base for the next 40 minutes and play 4 v 5 rather than have a bot follow you around and occasionaly throw some spells/ attacks? What if the bots had better AI and didnt feed like crazy. What if the bot followed a player so it could never be picked off.

Do you think that if the AI improves, that this should/could be a solution? I tend to agree that the AI are dumbasses, but I think if we could have a little better AIs, this would be a good solution.

Cheers thanks for the reply

Their AIs are exploitable, yes, but the human players around them are much less so. Many tactics used to cheese bot games are horrifically dangerous and counterproductive in PvP play, so a lot of the bot's innate weaknesses will be covered up by the fact that it's no longer possible to exploit them as hard without leaving yourself in a bad spot. The bot AI is also slowly but steadily improving to add more features and better decision-making, so eventually the gap will become smaller, particularly at lower MMR/ranks.

Plus yes it obviously wont be as good as a fifth player. that being said, would you rather he not throw at least 1 rotation of spells (maybe his ult) and soak some damage rather than sit in the fountain?

I would rather bot take hits and not the actual players for example. This is why i'm saying the bot should be following someone and never staying solo.

Just to add on a bit to this, people have commented on how the bots would be "lol feed bots". If they really do feed that hard, the gold they are worth for killing becomes miniscule, but your team still gets the benefits of the minions they kill, the damage they do to your enemies, CC they apply, and so on and so forth.

Unequivocally, yes. This was one of my favorite things that HotS did. The win rate for 4v5s is so disgustingly dismal that something clearly has to change.

Marshbouy2 votes

it's like 10% win rate

Exactly. Whatever shortcomings a bot might have (and there ARE many), there is almost no net loss in at least ATTEMPTING to find a solution to this issue outside of the already existing punishments.

Marshbouy3 votes

id like to see them try it on the PBE and intentionally make a 4v5 or something and use a bot and see how the winrate changes.

redfeenix3 votes

yeah just try some solutions out, some might work; good idea

Marshbouy1 votes

thanks. It might work, can't say it will or won't until it's tested.

Yes, introduce a feed bot in game. That will help you win.

Jetjoe2 votes

Fuck no. At best if theres an AFK in game have an automatic zzrot come in or something.

But in all honestly especially at gold and above they are going to feed off the AI and get more gold.

There have been times where our jungler feed so much but everyone else does well, we wish they were just AFK.

I dont know. To be honest the quality of players in various ELOS are so different.

What youre discussing here is essentially scripting and some scripts are better than others. The AI may do well but most likely its just going to feed its ass off anyway. In the game each player has different strategies (atleast in my opinion)

Top= engage/peel Mid= assasin/ high burst ADC = High DPS Support = Peel for ADC and engage Jungler = Fill in a role.

Some games you require different strategies that the bot just may not be able to assess unless he is made TOO good for his elo, which is basically scripting/challenger tier.

The strategies I refer to are baiting, split pushing, kiting, etc.

The only way that would work is if Riot developed an advanced AI. Intermediate is just going to feed any half decent player.

It wouldnt work because the bot would just get picked and feed imo

Lets look at it this way.

The AI comes in and now instead of "feeding" like people state it goes to mid lane and tower sits. The AI can come off of tower if another champion comes to mid lane. The AI in turn can only run mid lane. the AI can have a scrpit like Annies bear which inturn can follow for so long even in river and etc. . the AI can only go as far as a tower is up for defence. teir 1 - 3 towers with nexus defends options. the Ai then switches into a Follow Champion mode when said player come in close range of AI. So if jungle comes in from river the AI will have a auto follow to the nearest Champion. but say mid laner is under tower while jungle is fighting the Ai is now stuck right? what if they then in turn made the script to follow in on fights? so if yes the AI is feeding but is because said champion went in on a 1v5 but the Ai now made it a 2v5. so in turn other have to decide to go in or fail a team fight. the AI can prove helpful in any way better than a dead champ still in respawn location.

I mean i could say more but thats good enough i assume.

Yeah idk most people are saying that they would rather have the afk than the bot. I guess they think they have a higher chance winning 4 v5 without the bot

redfeenix1 votes

Looks like most people are voting no- because they would rather have the AFK than the bot. I guess I can see where you guys are comming from, Cheers thanks for voting

Nah, it's just people perusing the boards and voting without opening the thread, doesn't mean anything. Also, a surprising number of people don't realize that there's like a 10% win rate in these situations and as a result there is almost nothing lost in trying new solutions.

Our rengar jg 20/0 Carry dced. Let the bot take over . Only that the bots can't play rengar for shit Or even jungle Like At all

redfeenix1 votes

Yeah ikr thsts why I suggested that you doing the bot to least It to you snd it follows you.

If boys are alone they will just get picked off. If thry are following a player they can ve helpful. The rengar bot could use basic abilities and could tank some hits for you.

Technically it may be possible to win a 2v2 with a bot as the enemy will focus him and he'll tank, plus he can st least out some amount of dmg before falling.

This would be better than him sitting in based or trying to jungle.

Bots will feed out the ass. No thanks. I'd rather have an AFK than a feeder and that goes for human players too.

redfeenix1 votes

hmm... really?

Lets imagine an afk malphite for example. At least the bot can ult and tank and slow people with his skills. I know bots are idiots and he will feed.

But what if he is permanently leashed to players. That way he will never get picked off because he will never be alone, and he can contribute some skills/ults/hp to teamfights.

I think this is better than sitting in base. At the very least malphite bot will ult a single person and tank for the other 4 teammates.

Cheers thanks for the reply friend

But I don't want Annie bot's perfectly calculated stuns or Trundle bot's perfect pillar placement.
