Kennen is just a toxic champ

Champs with built-in stuns on their passive are always obnoxious pieces of shit, but you threw all fun and counterplay in the trash when you gave him his ult.

Here's the Kennen vs. Gangplank battle that went on.

I got Merc Treads, and Phantom Dancer, and all that important stuff. Kennen only had a peasant's 250 AP.

Kennen had one stack charged on his auto, and used it on me.

"Ow," I said. Then he immediately storms up to me with his 900 movement speed and easy item 3152 dash and just started to ult. He didn't even Q or W me; he just ulted.

So he was able to land that longer-than-needed stun on me rather instantly, but I reacted quickly and ate an orange to escape.

BUT WAIT.

I'M ALREADY AT 40% HEALTH FROM THAT ALONE.

HE STILL HAS 900 MOVEMENT SPEED.

HE STILL HAS HALF HIS ABILITIES.

HIS ULT IS STILL GOING, AND DEALING INCREASED DAMAGE!

So that's Kennen. Massive damage, massive mobility, and brainless cc. He can 100-0 champs with his base stats alone, which makes it all the worse when you see a 3000-health tank-Kennen chunking everyone's health in an unfair, uncounterable manner.

Let me guess, you went for pure AD build...

Let me check....

Yep! item 3185 item 3508 item 3031 item 3046 item 3057 item 3111

What exactly did you expect with that build? :)) You were basically playing a melee adc, except you couldn't deliver on consistent damage, nor be tanky enough for your team.

But Kennen takes a lot of skill hes so squishy and you just zoom in at over 9000 movespeed and press R and stun the entire enemy team without aiming anything and...

its fine hes a ranged champ riot wont nerf the one thing people hate being his passive and his w but would rather reduce the damage on his ulti by a short amount making it scale longer.

  1. He's a champion who relies on energy so if you actually properly learn to dodge his Q skill shots and predict when he is going to all in, you can force him to burn up energy to not have enough to work with to survive it easy and punish him on his all in attempt(whether by forcing him to back or killing him outright). This works great in making sure to bring some defensive build items, especially if you play a champion like Gangplank, who will adore flexible builds to shut down snowball aggressive champions with EZ.

  2. He's a AP champion so just grab a item 1057 then panick rushing for your damage items, most people keep forgetting a thing called cheap item damage shut downs. I've literally done the same against a lethality Jhin just a few hours ago as Alistar with a Caitlyn team mate and the enemy support was Thresh, granted Alistar is a perfect counter on disrupting Jhin and Thresh on grabbing a ADC and cc and damage harassing but soon as Alistar does a WQ then they are kinda ruined on that op.

  3. The fact they forced his R to have a wind up on the damage and hard nerfing the early damage will add into the ability that if he can't lock you down hard, he can't get his damage going. Which most Kennen builds that i recall aren't going to be ready for a simple counter like item 1057 and its more advance built grab items that also use MR, if you don't build a counter to a snowball 'all-in champion' then its basically your fault if you just fed them to where they already have enough AP stacked to just crunch thru a item 1057 early on. Don't forget his passive has reduced Stun durations and require him to hit 3 stacks to even pull off his shenigans, so without a proper helping of ASPD, he can't repeatedly proc his stuns multiple times without using his R, which also puts him at the mercy of Tenacity based items like item 3111 and a good old item 3139 can screw over his first R stun so you can quickly CC or damage blast him and benefit from that lifesteal and MR to blunt his damage nuke.

Kennen just like any standard all-in AP champion are easily screwed by counter builds, its more of a problem if a player does not take the time to grab a item 1029 or item 1033 in the first back to capitalize early on damage countering and make use of outscaling and turning a trade into a long one that most snowball champions can't aim for on high mana/energy costs or builds that will grant them little sustain or beef in the early game. Until the snowball meta is gone, Lethality ADCs, aggressive top laners and yolo diver junglers are going to be pretty rampant so best to play turtle and force them to starve while they wrecklessly slap at your turtle shell and then the power you built up thru a Bide will let you smash their faces in.
