Played hecarim for the first time in a few months
What the fuck happened? I can barely clear anymore without dying, I clear faster and with more health with Sejuani. And his mana, holy shit, I can barely keep mana even with blue buff.

Hecarim is dead, LCS killed him.
Riot could just make his W more effective on junglers monsters to buff Heca jg without giving power to top hecarim, but even then he still weak overhaul and will need more than that.
His passive is pretty useless, MS to AD factor if negligible, and without collision removal it became one of if not the worst Champion passive out there.. They should ajust the value or make another one for hecarim, cause it's garbage right now
edit: Combine this with the unecessary incoming T. Hydra nerfs, we are not going to see Hecarim for a long time. At least not on the winning side.
Talon and Zyra say hi for worst passives. Hec's passive is far from the worst in the game.

Just out of curiosity, so that others can help you out, what item are you starting with?
or
Then what ability are you starting with?

EDIT Just thought of this. To really round out the question:
What mastery setup are you using? And possibly your rune page setup?

the mana one and rampage.
Do you mind if I link you to Champion.gg for
jungle? I have him but I haven't played enough of him to really understand him. I usually try to check stuff like champion.gg for a good starting point to get me going in the right direction.
You are exaggerating a bit , but yes he is weaker than before.

I used to play hecarim quite a bit. And I can say without a doubt that he is a lot weaker now.

He's not exaggerating by much, his first clear is god awful.

I think you mean
Eve really isn't that bad if you know how to kite and position at the camps. On red side I can take 3 camps and sometimes 4, on blue side I can usually do a full clear with no interruptions.
The problem with Eve (in my book) is that she isn't usable outside of the jungle. If Hecarim got the needed fixes to his damage or mana problems, he'd be able to go top with little problems. Evelynn needs to be a next priority on the reworks team's list.
Build this. Honestly I use it for Hecarim, and Vi. Works like a charm. Yes you are sacrificing about 400 gold early from upgrading to your 2nd jungler item whether it be devourer or runic echoes or whatever you use.
With this, his mana sustain is much better, and yes I really think he could use mana buffs as well as Kindred. However with this item, it takes care of the problem honestly.
Also his first clear should involve the blue buff as the 3rd monster camp you go to, or 2nd camp after the initial leash from the first. Within a few minutes, you will have enough for blue smite, boots, and the hunters potion.
Start with
instead of pots.
Anyhow, I wreck people with big Hec. Just about get a triple every game.
According to your match history you have lost the last 7 most recent games you played as hecarim. Are you suuuuuure you don't want to ask for buffs like the rest of us? lol
But don't worry he won 1 game anyway so his build totally works and is ranked-ready
His team was the reason he lost, not his 400g disadvantage and lack of presence.
But hey that's not his fault! His build works in games where his teammates get fed!
I used to love Hecarim, but it is true, they made him god awful early game. Before it was tough but doable, and actually be capable of an early gank. Now you barely even survive even half your first clear.
God forbid if someone invades you before you get Cinderhulk or pre6. You are good as dead.
People playing him top lane in the LCS happened....
They balanced him around top lane (99% of pro play was on Hecarim top) so his jungling took a hit
Hes god awful top lane AND jungle. They gave him the Sejuani treatment and he wasnt even that oppresive compared to some champions in the meta right now.
Oh I wouldn't say statements like that. Hecarim top was a monster last season with red smite and was equally as oppressive this preseason with corruption potion making him a wall in lane that you could NEVER out trade and did not run out of mana.
As a Top Hec main since release can confirm, was pretty abusive at the start of this season. The passive change is what really knocked me off my horse :/
And it's been nothing but downhill since then with all his best items constantly getting nerfs. Except for Icebourne ofc.
Health wise you're exaggerating, it's not that bad. Mana wise though, dear God, you think Anivia and Swain guzzle mana like a Hummer, you ain't seen nothing till you play Hecarim.
The mastery changes really hurt Hecarim. Also the nerfs to his core items, like Frozen Heart. Also nerf to Tele - Homeguard. but in the jungle I don't have too many problems. Try taking crab for extra health when you are low.
They nerfed his base stats a few months ago on top of all the other nerfs he received preseason. Also they moved unit collision to his E instead of his passive so now one of the largest champions in the game can get creep blocked. Hecarim is pretty dead. They even buffed him this patch, and he is still very weak and his mana issues have not been adressed.
If you really want hecarim jungle to work, i advise you do the Valkrin build. Strength of ages as your keystone, and then build
(i know it sounds silly, but it works), into full tank. Hecarim is still going to be a horrible champion, but thats the best way ive seen him played.
I was just playing against a Hecarim as Galio and I was able to (with minions) just walk up to the turret and bring it down from about a third health to nothing. This entire time, Hecarim was throwing all his abilities at me and i took maybe 200 damage while i was destroying that turret. This is dumb.
Into a
Then grab
If needing more MR go into a
or
a
Or
Is always really nice.
I'm not sure but I just played against a jungler hecarim with tp/flash and he still did fine.

How does a jungler take TP and Flash? Where's smite? he can't do a first clear even with smite, GL without it.
There is no plausible explanation as to why he did fine, other than that you are bad. Invade that shit.
IDK about WEAKER. Yeah his early clear is hurt from the nerfs MEANT to target toplane hecarim, but this patch the changes to his e are insane. Back to multiplicative scaling and INCREASED KNOCKBACK.
Hecarim is in a very good spot right now, just isn't the strongest 1st clear
Hecarim is fine. Even more so, now that they buffed him. He seems a tad OP to me actually, probably not nerf worthy but still, powerful.
You can't get a full clear before recalling for the first time, but whatever. His ganks are ludicrously good!
How do people technically build Hec? How you build a champ is going to affect your success with them.
I'll typically run 12/18/0 AD reds, AR yellows, Scaling MR blues and two CDR quints with one MS quint.
Build goes something like this.

I play Hec as a hard snowball champ, do some camps, soon as a gank opens up, I jump em. By mid game I'm ready to pick up some defenses and should late game come I've enough survivability to get off my burst and a bit of DPS on top of that.
Yeah man pretty much. I love jungle carries and
was my main since season 3 (and still is my favorite champ) but he just hasn't felt very strong lately. I actually don't mind his early game too much, with a leash and being selective with my smites, I can make it to level 3/4 pretty healthy to attempt an early gank - which are still decent imo. His mid game is also quite effective still and that seems to be where you can do the majority of your damage atm. It's his late game which has been dumped off to an abysmal level. For a "carry jungle" everyone seems to outscale him late game, and he just doesn't have enough utility to be a game changer in late game brawls. Basically for me, it's just hard to justify picking him over auto attack junglers, and that's unfortunate because I LOVE
. Totally in support of some kind of buff that supports him in jungle viability only.
