Why exactly Camille ulti has an AOE knock back?

Ahristocats··8 votes·1,083 views

you gave her an ulti stopping every movement gave her %hp damage in the area

and on top of that, she has an AOE ~~0.75 knock back followed by a mini-stun?

lol ok, don't wonder why your game is unbalanced then

She has that knockback to function as a diver, giving her a bit time to single out her target from the team. It is the same like why Vi is knocking every enemy aside on her way to the enemy. Or XinZhao is knocking back any enemy except his target with his ult. Or Hecarim fearing all enemies when he arrives the core of the enemy team.

See a pattern? Divers are meant to jump into the enemy team, singling out a target and be a high killing threat for them. Camille is Riot's vision of a prime example of the subclass. So they gave her a tool to do exactly that.

Why the hell does Camille need to function as a Diver? She's not one. Rather, she shouldn't be, but her ult makes her one.

How do you figure? Just asking, but she has a very Diver-like pattern: dive in and kill the carry.

She's not tanky enough to be a juggernaut,

She's too tanky to be an assassin.

Her mobility isn't quite high enough and her 1v1 potential against tanky damage dealers isn't as good as Yas or Fiora, so she isn't a Skirmisher.

She builds triforce and then full tank iirc, and after she kills the carry she functions by utilizing her autos and trying to survive as best she can, like Xin, Jarvan, and Vi. Seems a lot like a diver to me.

  1. No, shes not a juggernaut.

  2. True.

  3. Sure about that? Oh, and: Yas and Fiora are much squishier than Camille, both buildwise and statwise. In fact, let's see what Skirmishers often have.

  1. Mobility
  2. Damage mitigation
  3. High damage
  4. Crowd Control

Examples: Fiora has Q for heavy mobility, W for damage mitigation as well as passive heals and lifesteal. Her damage is obviously high. Her W stuns if she blocks CC, and slows attack speed if it doesn't (and normal slow, as well).

Riven has high mobility, 4 dashes. Her shield gives damage mitigation. She has a shit ton of damage. She has 2 AoE CC's.

Yasuo has high mobility, his E. He's got Wind Wall and passive to block damage. He does a lot of damage. He has an AoE knock up on every third Q.

Convinced?

Now lets see what Camille has.

  1. Mobility. Camille has her E, which is incredibly large and has a relatively short cooldown with lots of CDR. She also gets a minidash on her ult and movespeed from her Q.
  2. Damage mitigation. Her passive, and W heal, as well as an invuln on R which can be timed to dodge/block damage. Also high base stats.
  3. High damage. 2 auto attack resets with bonus damage, the second being true damage. Yeah... that's a lot. Good scalings all around, as well.
  4. Crowd Control. Ult knockback, E knockback and stun.

I think she has the stuff to be a skirmisher, but base stats are a bit high for it tbh, which is why she can do better with triforce titanic into tank.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

I dunno, I can't see her being a skirmisher becuase she can't dash as often as say Yas or Fiora.

Also her damage mitigations is rather bad against mixed damage. Yas and Fiora can outright negate damage.

Also, talk about Camille's dash if you want, but Yas and Fiora are more mobile.

Not to mention that Camille's heal is really slow and telegraphed compared to the rest of her kit.

Even with max CDR, her dash has a 5 second cooldown. If she's too far she still can't catch you as well as say Yasuo or Fiora. At least they have short dashes when they hit a unit.

Camille can junp walls, but Talon can do that better as well.

Let's see what Divers often have, shall we?

  1. Strong gap closers
  2. Durability
  3. High damage
  4. Crowd Control

Examples: Vi has strong gap closers with Q and R, her passive shield gives her enough durability to stay a few seconds in the middle of the enemy team. She has high damage, able to kill squishies in a second. And she has strong crowd control, again, with Q and R.

Hecarim: gap closers with E and R. His W gives him sustain to stay in the core of the enemy team. His damage is high, thanks to his passive and Q. And again, he has 2 forms of crowd control with E and R.

Meanwhile you showed kinda a wrong picture about Skirmishers.... Divers have a reliable gap closer. Skirmishers don't. You can't compare Fiora's Q or Yasuo's E to Diver gap closers. They are mostly short ranged, making it more difficult to reach a high priority target. Or in other words: when it comes to reaching the carry, Skirmisher gap closers are unreliable.

And another trade mark from skirmishers: Yes, they have damage mitigation. But in terms of a strong defensive mechanic. Parry and Windwall are completely negating the enemies attack. Meanwhile Divers have durability. That means they still get hit by the enemy, they just are better at tanking that damage.

Sry, but in her whole design Camille is absolutely a Diver, not a Skirmisher. Last but not least: When Riot released Camille, they said themselves that they wanted to research the Diver subclass. Camille was the product of that research. Camille's very existence is because Riot wanted to figure out "what exactly is a Diver" and she was the result they came up with.

Diver damage falls off heavily, late game their burst brings a squishy to 30%, but their dps falls off so heavily that they can never finish the kill. Early mid game you have Heca and Vi oneshotting squishies with R, Camille does this all game except slower.

Guess what's not reliable for reaching the back line?

A dash that's easily body blocked with small AoE.

You seem to have forgotten Yasuo's passive shield which refreshes upon ulting, Riven's AD scaling shield which is bitched about so often.

Also, Camille's dueling much too well to be a Diver. Late game, Heca and Vi all lose to duelists - Camille stomps anyone all game, besides her hard counters.

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

Skirmishers are squishy, they are not durable. Do you call Camille squishy? And Camille's E and R are pretty good at reaching high priority targets. Everyone is complaining that she has such a strong gap closer.

And right, Riven has a shield. Scaling with AD. That means she gets rewarded for building mostly damage. That's what Skirmishers are encouraged to do, building damage to slice through their enemies. Camille's passive gives her a shield based on her max health. So she gets rewarded for building tanky. Divers are actually encouraged to build 1-2 damage items and then tanky afterwards. Exactly what Camille is doing.

And you didn't comment on this fact: Riot themselves said they researched what a diver in League of Legends is meant to be. And Camille was their answer to that question. Riot is defining what a diver is and what they are meant to do. Camille is the essence of what a diver should be for them. Sry, you can't deny that fact.

She is a diver, not a skirmisher. Maybe other divers will get pushed in her direction with the upcoming diver update, we will see. You can keep telling people she is a skirmisher, but I am sorry, I have to tell you you are wrong.

She's too good at dueling to be a diver, aka her dueling needs nerfs.

Camille would be squishy... if she didn't have amazing base stats.

Nah, people are complaining that she can get to you from half the lane away. Never said anything about high priority targets.

Mhm. How come she does so much damage then?

Well they fucked up.

No, more like she should be pushed in the direction of other divers. I don't wanna be 1v1'd by a Vi late game, thank you very much. Getting oneshot early-mid game was bad enough, but at least let me 1v1 those I'm supposed to 1v1.

Problem is, Camille's Q, 0 and R are... strange. Divers prioritize carries, yes? True damage is much more effective against those with lots of armor, since you're ignoring more armor. %max health damage is better against those with more max health - her W and R are both %max health. So why does a Diver have these things?

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

She is THE prime example of a diver. She was designed to be exactly that. So basically you are asking "why does a champion have to function as intended?"????

Except... her Q delays and W delay, and R being DPS tell me... that she's not.

Her burst should be negligable. Most of her damage is backloaded onto attack speed buffs, delayed true damage, and onhit effects.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Exactly. And that's the ideal Diver.

The others mentioned burst becuase of their older design. You can't get deleted by a Camille as fast as say you would by a Hecarim, Vi or full damage Jarvan.

Riot wants Divers to do sustained damage, and move away from burst.

I'm still surprised it's the one thing in her kit that hasn't been nerfed yet. It's the biggest balance offender in my opinion.

Chembaron Yamada3 votes

The stun duration of the knockback got nerfed?

BBQChicken Alert1 votes

Sorry, didn't see that when reading her nerfs. Her ult is still bullshit, though. Inescapable cage where the only counter is to not go near it. Very fun to play against.

They already nerfed it to no set time, just displacing you till the edge of the field, as well as speeding up the displacement. They also already removed the mini-stun afterwards.

and it makes her untargetable for no reason at all...it´s just really really overloaded with power.

Her entire kit is overloeaded ,not just ultimate.Specially her E.

She will be a garbage tier after 2-3 months when they nerf her for dominating LCS....

SSmotzer1 votes

Because they want her to be a game changer for a few more weeks before nerfing her into the ground.

Ahristocats3 votes

they better remove this knock back if they want to nerf her to the ground then

worst champ release i ever saw in years, it's like on ekko's level

ADepressedLeona1 votes

Clearly you forgot the GP and Morde reworks of 2015 making them 100% pick or ban

freeloader251 votes

If you look at her kit in detail you will ask this question (why does camille have ***?) a lot. She has so much "hidden" power which you hardly recognize. I just realized she has 80% bonus as on her e. Why? Dont ever bother to ask.

Ahristocats1 votes

this is so stupid, her E is so stupid, her ulti knock back prevents you from saving a friend if you have a displacement

unless you stay away from her, but the AOE knock back is really stupid

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Just gonna take a wild guess here and say it's so that she has breathing room to take out her target before the enemy team collapses on her.

Sire Hippington1 votes

to be honest, the aoe knockback is the part i understand. My only beef with it is that it's basically like Xins ult. But back to the aoe knockback: Camille is really vulnerable to cc, she has low stickiness if she gets cced right after her E and looses the second Q and with that most of her damage. The aoe knockback gives her a window vs peel in teamfights. What really is unnecessary is the 'you can't escape, ever' part that A) turns any gank, by her or for her, into a save kill and allows her on top of all her existing 1v1 power and chaseing tools a kinda 'you are dead' button if ahead. Also, why does she need extra 1v1 damage from that ult???

LadyRenly1 votes

yeah lets just list exactly what her ult does
