Vlad gets played once in lcs - does good - now picked/banned.

Holy fuck, I know they wanna win but these guys are such sheeps. Jesus, nobody played Vlad before that or spoke of him, but he gets played once and now everybody's on his dick. Idk if this bothers anyone else or just me, but I can't stand meta sheeps. Although, if this will continue, I hope riot will finally see that the MYMU wasn't such a great success and left his kit still problematic, in need of full VGU.

they just pick him for the AoE damage amp, not because vlad does much else.

its the same reason they pick maokai, AoE damage reduction.

doodlebob6664 votes

its more than that his entire kit gives power to his pro play, he is a difficult gank because of pool, can split push relatively well and has the ability to deal damage to the back line without the risk of getting pealed off by a tank. Also maokai was mostly picked because he could outpush everyone top and was the most reliable champ in the game

ForgiveColour12 votes

Yeah ignoring his super strong mid and late game xd

Reasons why I can't stand LCS. You could main a champion and the second it's picked professionally, suddenly everyone mains that champ, knows more than you, it's considered broken, etc. feelsgreatman

  • a salty Talon main
Gorgiolio13 votes

I thought Talon was broken way before his update if that makes you feel any better.

Kimmy K6 votes

Pre-rework he was just braindead asf and an aoe suicide bomb. After he one shot someone he was useless, NOW he can still one shot someone but it's easier to not get bursted. >Short Q dash range/Main damage in melee range >W delay and less damage on first proc >Main damage in passive

I haven't played much recently but seeing ahri players in other people games with DFT, No CDR runes, no skill + flash cancel plays all game long and all the other stupid shit they do hurts.

At least get the masteries and runes right ffs.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

3 AS Reds and 10% scaling CDR blues?

2Charmnot2Charm1 votes

Don't have to use 3 AS Reds, i'm just experimenting with the attack speed reds since i seen other ahri mains using it.

What should be used on ahri (and pretty much every mage) 9 magic pen Reds 9 hp per level yellows 6 cdr per level +3 blues of whatever you want 3 flat ap quints if vs AP , If vs AD I take 2 armor quints +1 ap quint instead so i can keep the hp per level yellows.

Instead i see people running full magic resist blues in match ups that arn't even a threat or full ap.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Naw I'm saying that's what I run. I've got 3 pages for her, between my normal 3 AS 6 Mpen Reds, 9 scaling hp yellows, 6 scaling CDR 3 MR blues, 3 AP quints.

Then is the same, but MS quints, and then the third one is the same with Armor quints,

When you have 800 games on Jayce, and then all of a sudden LCS plays them, and now everyone claims Jayce requires no skill.

The meta slaves take on my nerves.

The worst was Misfortune Support; weeks of seen Misfortune support in half the games for no reason just because a pro picked her to counter Zyra.

Maddened King 2 votes

I actually tried to explain this to an MF. You don't pick MF into a tank, you pick it into Malz or Zyra. Didn't care, just flamed that she had a horrible ADC.

Supreme Senpai692 votes

Lol on the other side of that, as a support player, whenever the enemy chooses Zyra the ADC tells me to pick MF. Me: "Um no." Them: "But the pros did it!" Me: "I'm not a pro. And you're Caitlyn." Them: "No it works cuz your E counters her plants"

Even though all Zyra has to do is level her W early on and it's useless. People don't get it was because Ashe had her own CC to combo with the MF ult.

Them: "But the pros did it!" Me: "I'm not a pro. And you're Caitlyn."

Them: "The pros picked X and build Y ítems". Me: "I'm not a pro, you are not a pro, and this is Bronze V. Let me do my thing".

meta slaves ;) the reason the game is fucked

This.

Riot are as much slaves to their enforced meta as the playerbase. The real reason the game is, as you say, "fucked."

I swear to god Vlad just got back to being a good champ again. If he gets gutted again because of the fucking LCS I'm going to lose it.

Yes, Swain is weak. No one touch Swain mid. He is weak guys, please don't touch him. Very, very weak! No one use him in the LCS. Don't try to buff him, just leave him alone.

I've always hated Vlad, I've always thought of him as one of the top 5 most broken champs when ahead, but since he was never picked I never banned him. Now that he was played in LCS I would ban him now cause I know people would play em. I haven't actually banned him yet, I just want you to know that there are people like me out there, who aren't just sheep. lol.

ForeverLaxx1 votes

You say Vlad is "top 5 most broken" and you want to say you're not a sheep.

Okay then.

Just a release-Vlad main, passing through here. Don't mind me.

Aimléss1 votes

He's broken when fed because there isn't much you can do against a fed Vlad. You can't really cc him, like a Kat, you can't just burst him down like an ADC, you can't really even kite em like a fed Tryndamere. If your team can't do the damage to burst him down through his healing and fast enough so he doesn't have time to go back into puddle, you kinda just gotta lose lol. He's one of those champs like Vayne since the stealth changes, or some fed kogmaw with a Lulu and Ivern shielding him. It's BS but you just kinda gotta accept the loss.

ForeverLaxx1 votes

"Broken when fed" is a bad argument. Nearly the entire roster of champions can be considered "broken when fed" because they're going to be roaming and shutting down the entire enemy team, helping the rest of their team get ahead.

I will be SO upset if they end up nerfing him because of it.

FastAsHeck5 votes

I used to play Nautilus support before his mini rework, and people called me a troll for it. Then suddenly it started being picked and people called me a meta sheep. I don't even.

ForeverLaxx4 votes

Should just get used to it. No one in this game believes anyone can have an original thought or playstyle. The only thing that works is what the pros do, and you're an idiot until the pros do what you've been doing for months. Then you're a sheep/netdecker/copycat/whatever else.

SweedishGunner4 votes

I just hope he doesn't get nerfed because of it.

Project omen4 votes

Idk man, as someone who's pretty much a Vladimir one trick, I'd say his current state is pretty good. Plus, not only do people not ban him in my games, I rarely see him picked. He's one of those champs that people see and think "oh yeah, this guy exists in the game", but is actually good if you know what you're doing. I remember months ago when he did get banned a lot because of lcs, but that was for a week tops.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

As long as they pick him top and not mid, I don't care how common he is.

Project omen1 votes

I play him in both lanes and have a decent winrate with him.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Yea, but I was saying I get cancer playing against the champ who builds SV and never dies in the mostly AP lane while still doing dumb damage.

Project omen1 votes
  1. Vlad doesn't always build visage.
  2. Most mages can make his early game a nightmare before he builds it. Especially the ones with long range. There's even some of them that can still fight him if he's bought visage. Syndra, Ahri and Orianna come to mind. It's a fair trade.
NineTailedMystic1 votes

Then I must be garbage at my main because I lost to Vlad at every stage of laning phase. Can never fucking fight him because he just incessantly heals.

ForeverLaxx1 votes

You're running into the problem everyone else did that convinced Riot to take out his knees many years ago. You're approaching Vlad like he's already level 9 or 11 and assuming he'll just shrug off harass with the next creep wave. Vlad is weak early on -- abuse the fact.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

He honestly did. Every time I looked at his HP bar, I said "how much did he fucking heal?" He won every trade, even though I avoided the majority of his Es. Any trade I did manage to come out on top of it didn't matter.

After that game I always ban him.

Not sure how Syndra can fight him. His SV will overide her Morello early on easily. Also I am fairly sure he can pool her ult which is where most of the fear of Syndra comes from. After that is done she is basically screwed since she has 0 chance to kill him and he can choose to fight her whenever for the most part.

Ahri is kinda in teh same boat but her damage is more spread out at least so his pool doesn't save him too greatly. I would honestly say this is more a skill match up, if Ahri gets ahead she will get him, if Vlad gets ahead she will have 0 chance at him and very likely not even have a chance to since he will go on her and blow her up. Vlad will shit on an Ori, he will just pool her every ult, so other than her autos and her single poke, she has nothing on him, her shield will help her a bit but as soon as he has SV she can't do shit to him entirely, her ult will always miss, and her only form of poke and damage will do nothing to him, while he can easily wear her down and survive with ease.

Vlad is only weak to things like Ziggs and Xerath and Velkoz since they vastly outrange him and never want to get close to him, so he CAN possibly be worn down, but he can still survive that lane since he can sustain himself forever. Talon and Zed can mess him up though and can't be easily harrassed by him since they got a ranged way of farming, this is why I don't say Yasuo since Vlad will make his life hell everytime he goes for cs, and windwall doesn't help him. Anything that instant burst him or vastly outranges him beats him, anything that has to get close to him generally won't win. I would say its basically similar to how Illaoi is. If you are ranged she will generally be just a glorified minion all laning phase since she is being poked down nonstop and can't get on you. If you are melee you basically lost lane at champ select.

JhamSleaz4 votes

Well I mean there were probably a lot of people that wanted to play Vlad but were scared by his winrate and overall how people talk about him. Seeing him in lcs is enough proof that he's a viable champion. They aren't all sheeps lol

Here's the thing, I don't mind people trying to emulate pros, it makes sense to try to emulate the best.

What pisses me off is when people pick these things without knowing why they were picked in the first place.

Why do people pick Vladimir in LCS? Because of the 10% damage amp on his ultimate, if you're not taking advantage of that, don't play Vladimir.

Why did Gorilla pick Miss Fortune Support? As a counter to Zyra and it was later a counter to Malzahar. It was a situational pick that was innovated for TWO matchups (and originally one).

Why did Malzahar become a support? Because of the cheese and harass that the Voidlings provided (also because Riot loves butchering everything I love).

Why was Mordekaiser picked midlane earlier in EU? A Katarina counter. That's it.

I could go on but you get the point. There's a distinction between opportunists and sheep. I don't mind opportunists, I do mind the sheep.
