Is it me, or are mages harder to kill now?

I say this because, mages as a class now build ap/health items ever since item 3089 and pure ap items were gutted. It's not uncommon to see a mage with over 3000 hp while providing tons of utility from item 3116 and their kit.

It almost like all mages have falling into the sub class of tank as they are no long prime targets for assassins.

This leaves assassins inherently strong against only adcs as they cant burst a mage like before.

Is this healthy for the game? Are mages too tanky in general?

Rabadon's Deathcap and Luden's Echo are still very strong glasscannon AP items, as is Morellonomicon (which now gives 100 AP) and Void Staff.

The mages building those tanky-utility items like Rylai's, Liandry's, Abyssal, Hextech items, etc. are certainly sacrificing their overall burst / damage output to do so.

Not really. item 3027 item 3003 item 3116 give just as much ap as pure ap items, but they also have health and shield. They are not losing a lot. The damage for ludens is almost negligible late game.

Don't make these kind of thread on Gameplay. Most of the community here are mage circle jerkers that will downvote you for being against mages. Hell they fucking upvoted a thread crying about how mages need more "lifesteal" for sustain and was upvoted to nearly 100 upvotes.
