Cleaning Up the Rift Fastest – Create Guilds
We all agree that trolls need to be dealt with. AFKers are a problem. And that “bads” are keeping us in ELO. (ELO hell, in this case, being every bracket ever occupied.) But our methods always have problems. The tribunal was rife with people blindly click the answers depending on what end of a trolling/ban they were on. The rash chat bans lacked nuance, and the recent wave of bans from cheating were “so unfair.”
**The answer to these problems is “guilds.” Guilds, in this case, are just player chosen sets of rules that operate within the Terms of Use. And for players who join those guilds, it’s an agreement to a select handful of outlooks on game play that they like. **
For example, if you like meta-breaking gameplay, join a guild that celebrates that. No more accusations of newb-ary for running a Malzhar top lane, or a Tryndamere support. Do you think getting aggressive with other players is fine so long as you can take it? I don’t, but find a guild that does. The solution is not to create more rules, nor is the currently authority ineffective, it’s just that when you have 10 million players you’re going to get a wide span of player preferences. Let many of these disputes be settled within the ranks.
To be clear, this wouldn’t change solo queue. If you want to log in and roll the dice like usual, go for it. But by building in an in-game social aspect that allows quick access to players who know what they’re signing up for .
