Overloaded Abilities In League of Legends

What is, in your opinion, the most overloaded ability in League of Legends?

Things to look for- The ability does 2 or more things at once. The ability has a longer description than most abilities. The ability has aspects of other champions abilities inside of it. The ability might Negate a weakness of the Class/Champion.

My example

Rengar's W- Battle Roar

PASSIVE: Rengar stores 50% of the damage he's taken in the last 1.5 seconds as Grey Health (75% versus monsters)(Tahm Kench Passive)

ACTIVE: Rengar lets out a battle roar, dealing Magic damage to nearby enemies and healing Rengar for his Grey Health.(Pyke Passive)

EMPOWERED ACTIVE: Battle Roar's magic damage is modified and additionally Cleanse Rengar of all crowd control.(Gangplank Orange) Ferocity: Rengar generates 1 Ferocity whenever he casts a basic ability. Reaching 4 Ferocity makes his next ability empowered, granting an additional cast along with 30 / 40 / 50% (based on level) Movement speed icon bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds at the cost of all Ferocity.

This ability does 2 things at once upon cast, 4 things at once upon Empowered Cast, the real kicker is that you can cast his Normal W then his Empowered W to get the Heal and Magic damage Twice.

Massive Heal, Cleanse, Movement Speed Boost and Damage, the only way it could be more overloaded is if it stunned you as well or scaled with AD/Dealt AD Damage.

Pyke R

It's an aoe execute that ignores shields, teleports pyke to the target, resets on kill and gives free gold to assisting teammates. Pretty nuts

King Lego2/24/2020, 1:38:18 PM13 votes

Akali Passive.

  • empowered auto
  • 2 movement speed buffs
  • ranged when empowered
  • restores energy

At least 2 of those can be taken and put into a new champion's passive.

Not sure how no one has yet said Ornn passive: it literally has 4 different LISTED, NAMED passives within it:

  1. Innate: 10% bonus armor and magic resist from all sources
  2. LIving Forge: The ability to buy items when out of base
  3. Master Craftsman: Access to 2 absurdly gold-efficient items that synergize ridiculously well with his kit
  4. **Master Craftsman (Continued):**Provide 1 absurdly gold-efficient item to all teammates.
  5. Temper: Auto attacks against Brittle targets are knocked back
  6. Temper (Continued): All CC effects against Brittle targets take an additional 12% - 20% MAX HP Damage based on Ornn's level

Yasuo ult It is a long range teleport(as in, not a dash, so he won't trigger traps or catch skillshots on the way) It prolongs knockup, deals damage, works in AOE and gives armor pen on crits for a time. It also resets his shield and removes his Q stacks It also positions him outside of turret range if possible

Meanwhile Rengar's W is "deal AOE damage and heal, some more damage and CC removal if stacked", nothing much really.

TahmKench Devour it's arguably the best ability in the game even after 20 nerfs

Illaoi E

  • Creates a clone that transfers damage dealt to it to you
  • Scales with AD
  • Duration extends when the clone is damaged
  • Anyone can attack it
  • Tentacles will automatically attack it
  • Acts as a champion for purposes of her other skills
  • If you run far enough or the clone is killed you get slowed and debuffed
  • Debuff causes tentacles to spawn near you
  • Debuff causes tentacles to automatically attack you
Durzaka2/24/2020, 4:16:04 PM4 votes

I think something that covers what SHOULD be its (or the champions overall)weakness is overloaded.

Yasuo should be vulnerable to poke and burst, but his W and his passive help completely negate than when used right, for example.

So after going through the list, here are some more examples:

Camille E dash towards a wall, optional double range dash towards an enemy (over walls), knockback, stun, attack speed boost for 5 secs

Galio W Passive: magic damage shield with scaling and cooldown Active: Channel with damage reduction and self slow, AoE taunt

Illaoi E Skill shot to create targets for her ult and W, long range damage transfer, massive slow when walking away or the vessel is destroyed. For the next 12 seconds spawn even more tentacles around you and be an auto-target for her tentacles.

Malzahar E (in the context of all the interactions) DoT damage, i.e. 4 second slow, damage increase on W, cast adds one voidling for w, mana regeneration on kill, refreshed by Q and R

Mordekaiser W Passive: store damage taken as a potential shield Active: Start decaying shield Second active: Consume rest of the shield to heal

Senna Q targeted (on anything) AoE damage and heal (both scaling with AD), counts as AA for her passive damage, applies on-hits, CD gets reduced by AAs, two different widths, can also damage turrets, collects wraiths

Warwick W Passive: globally sensing anyone below 50% hp, bonus MS, bonus AS, increased effect if <20% HP Active: sensing nearby enemy, halfed cooldown when nobody is hunted, completely irrelevant effects (see lol wiki)

Warwick R long range (based on MS, but see W) dash, suppression, counts as AAs with on-hit effects, heals for damage dealt

Zoe W Passive 1: steal enemies summoners and active items (anytime they cast it) Passive 2: casting her own summoners triggers the active Active: cast the stolen summoner spell or item active, gain movement speed and ALSO cast Ahri W

I did not count things which have a huge text but are pretty much the only "special" thing about the kit, e.g. Jhin or Aphelios or fiora passive

Pretty much every ability any assassin has.

ContDeCaterinca12/24/2020, 5:49:21 PM3 votes

What about Senna passive?

Or Soraka Q for a basic ability: decent damage, slow, self speed-up, regen for herself and 1 person, virtually no CD midgame

Moretcher2/25/2020, 1:24:57 AM3 votes

Neeko Her ult giving a shield, momentary invulnerability, stun, and massive burst. Hardly the worst thing about her but it is a lot of clutter

Rengar's is not the way you're stating.

His W only shows the grey health as an indication of how much HP you'd recover by pressing W at that instant, it doesn't regen by itself as tahm's or pyke's His empowered W has an extra stat as all his other abilities: eQ has bonus AS, eE roots instead of slows, eW cleanses CC with a burst of movement speed (which makes him sacrifice damage). Yes he can still one shot your AD with ult duskblade Q combo, but that's almost every assassin since enchanter supports have fell out of meta.

Now for example, reworked akali, reworked irelia, reworked pantheon, reworked mordekaiser, aphelios, sylas, pre nerfs tahm, and basically every new rework or champ they have been launching start with overloaded kits. (Which fucking annoys me because HOW DAFUQ HAS THE BALANCE TEAM STILL NOT LEARNT AFTER HAVING TO NERF EVERY SINGLE REWORK AND NEW CHAMPION'S MECHANICS OVER AND OVER THAT OVERLOADING THEIR KITS IS AWFULL)

Śhunpo2/25/2020, 4:02:19 AM2 votes

That's LoL's main problem imo. Back in the day champ's abilities only did one thing, besides Lee Sin and Riven (who surprise surprise are issues now). You pressed a button and ONE thing happened.

Now, it's like, "I press this button which procs my passive, which also procs on-hit effects, can crit, stuns you, gives me movement speed and resets upon killing an enemy champion". We've come a long way...

[sg-lulu]

But to answer your post, I personally think that Aphelios ult (R) is the single most overloaded ability in the game. It's stupid.

Kenneky2/24/2020, 5:27:52 PM2 votes

Sett's W or Ekko's W. AoE abilities that can be used both offensively and defensively, love them...

fire2632/24/2020, 9:30:12 PM2 votes

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but Aphelios passive.

5 guns, each with different effects, damage, aoe, waveclear, sustain, range, utility, and shit load of damage (especially on his chakrams or whatever they're called). The only real counterargument to this is that he only has access to two at a time and those two are semi-random.

I would include his other two abilities, but those are more tied to his passive so that would make the passive the overloaded part, not really his Q or R.

Sucction2/25/2020, 7:35:48 AM1 votes

If it counts, Aphelios' passive? Kinda a cheat-answer though.

Jhin's passive is a boatload of information, though ends up being fine and balanced, just different.

For an actual active ability just packed with effects, perhaps Senna's E. Not really sure. I'd need to look through like everything :c

Troll Slaiyer2/24/2020, 6:42:21 PM1 votes

Jhin i dont think its op. just overloaded. it is an essay and does many things. senna too. for her case, it is op.

Get Outscaled2/24/2020, 7:47:10 PM1 votes

Yes, overloaded kits are big problem o this modern league of legends because it kills it's core gameplay and rules but your example is absolute bs I can't even describe it.

Ryze Q

:)

LanceTheJungler2/24/2020, 8:15:14 PM1 votes

Evelynn Q She activates it, shoots a dart, which lets her recast it 3 times. If enemies are hit by the dart they take bonus damage from the next three Q's. It gives back CD against monsters. Reactivation Q's auto target meaning she doesn't even have to hit her one skill shot. If she does hit it she gets rewarded with a total of 330 base damage with 195% AP ratio in one ability.

Modl Ryden l2/25/2020, 12:13:23 AM1 votes

Ashe:

W - Volley

Does damage in a cone, applies a slow. Overloaded AF.

Reksee2/25/2020, 2:20:26 AM1 votes

Neeko ult Shield LOTS of damage stun AOE

I'd say that's pretty overloaded

PopcornBunni2/25/2020, 5:06:05 AM1 votes

I think I'll go by each ability slot for this

P: Ornn Yasuo Rengar Senna It's a hard choice here, but I'll give it to Ornn. His passive does all of the following

ahem:

-Gives Ornn 10% bonus AR and MR from all sources -Allows Ornn to craft nonconsumable items outside of the shop which: --Give him access to permanent 150 heals and 125 mana restores in laning phase -Automatically upgrades two masterwork enabled items in Ornn's inventory at level 12, giving ~ 2000g of free stats on top of his AR and MR bonus -Allows Ornn to give ~ 1000g of stats to allies with masterwork items, one ally per level starting at level 13 -Gives Ornn followup %health damage and hard CC on enemies marked by W and R

Q: Yasuo Riven Aatrox Warwick LeeSin Qiyana Another tough choice. The recurring theme on this slot is abilities with multiple recasts and different mechanics in different situations, except Warwick, who just does a lot on a single-cast.

That said, I'll go with Qiyana. Aphelios may have different guns and thus different Qs (I would consider them all entirely different abilities rather than a single one) but Qiyana has 3 entirely different projectiles with different effects, any one of which would be enough to constitute an entire ability on another champion:

-Projectile (all) -AoE damage (all) -CD refresh mechanic (all) -Execute damage (earth) -Long-lasting stealth (brush) -MS buff (brush) -Hard CC in the form of a root (water) -Slow following hit (water)

The only thing the ability is missing is hybrid ratios and a shield/heal, considering she has two other hard CCs and two dashes, one with an extremely low CD, in her kit

W: Zoe

E: Illaoi runner up Yasuo The ability has as much going on as a typical ultimate, and would certainly be one with numbers adjusted and cast type changed to unit-targeted.

R: Swain Neeko Kaisa Senna Mordekaiser XinZhao Zed Vayne Yasuo Pyke Qiyana Nocturne Gangplank Ahri Akali Aatrox Aphelios

So many choices here, since the ult is obviously where the largest portion of power budget goes on 99% of characters. Technically characters like Leblanc and Heimerdinger have the most that can be done with their ults, but they amount to "suped up normal ability."

All that said, I'll go with Pyke for having a recastable AoE execute blink with lethality scaling that shares kill gold with an ally and gives triple kill gold (double for pyke, single for the ally) if an ally kills a target Pyke would kill, if his ult would hit them, but be-, before the ult hits, but while-, while he's casting it, and the X is over them, and-, b-, but not when they kill after it hits, but if they do kill, still give him the double gold, and still resets his cooldown. yeah.
