Why does Veigar's ultimate cost 175 mana?!

I thought they were normalizing every mages ult mana costs to 100? As one of the most mana hungry champs in the game, why was this overlooked?!

Not like Veigar. Something about infinite scaling probably has something to do with it.

It scales based on enemy AP's - 80% of their AP. That's ridiculous. A lategame Ahri with 600 AP gets applied 480 bonus damage just for being a mage. Then, with a base of 500 damage.

That means, a level 16 Veigar with no AP can instantly put 980 damage onto an Ahri with one spell.

But it scales 120% of his AP. So let's say you're a decent Veigar and have 600 AP. That's 720 damage from his AP scalings. One spell has now done 1700 damage by just tapping the R button. This completely disregards his AOE stun, and his Q damage, along with his E damage.

Something that powerful needs to have its limits.

Well...that the whole point of veigar. If you knowingly choose a squishy AP mage against him, you sorta deserve it. I mean....you are aware of what his ult does.

The point of Veigar is to toxic-ly nuke anyone as long as the game lasts 30+ minutes?

He kind of stands his own in lane versus a fair amount of matchups. Not a ton of matchups hard counter him because he has an AoE stun.

Most champions can easily bully Nasus into poorly farming. But Veigar sort of holds his own.
