Opinion: Supports should take blue wards; junglers get sweeper

This isn't the meta, and it doesn't seem to be what people believe is good, but I'm pitching it because I'd like to see where I'm wrong. I'm basing this on the outlandish lack of vision in most of my games, and the lingering cultural imperative that the support is the warder (exacerbated by the fact that Riot made their icon...a ward).

With Ruby SS, the blue ward is going to be up for use a lot more often. Furthermore, it's existing vision someone has to physically remove. So us warding I would guess leaves the map lit up more consistently than our traditional wards, and relying on others to ward period.

Furthermore, we tend to be squishy. The nerf to ZZ'rot only hurts tank support more than it had already. So your support is likely to be a mage, and it's better to give them ward range, and let the jungler sweep, given that they're often melee, rarely utility, and tankier in general.

Thoughts?

You actually have me wanting to try blue ward so I can ward further out without leaving lane. Gonna get attacked by my team I'm sure but why not.

I've been doing it in games, and no one so far has said anything.

The economics I need to figure out is this:

Is vision for our team greater than vision denial for their team? If so, is the ability to guess where to sweep as large as I assume, since a ward is a guaranteed ward, but a sweep is not guaranteed removal.

Sweeper also assumes the enemy is warding, where as blue ward does not. All of this would be interchangable with the jungler/other roles except:

  1. That other role is assumed to be taking the blue ward
  2. They don't have Ruby SS, so the uptime is different
  3. Where do we want the 20% reduction? On sweeper or blue since, again, blue is a guaranteed ward, and sweeper isn't guaranteed removal.

This problem is inevidably going to be on an Elo to Elo basis. And I imagine that in a professional environment, the vision game is calculated enough that one really would miss out if they didn't have that vision denial.

Sweeping lenses by no means have to be perfect at finding wards. Just insuring that a particular place isn't warded is useful in of itself. And without a sweeping lens, you would need to purchase control wards to accomplish this.

You're assuming that no one takes Sweeper. As I've stated, the jungler would be sweeping.
