Someone explain to me why a little girl who shoots fire out of her hands has more range than a "battle mistress" wielding a spinning blade....

As I recall they actually nerfed Annie's range at some point. Seeing as all her spells are extremely short ranged makes her effectively short ranged too, so it really doesn't matter.

Has anyone ever been truly afraid of that Annie auto? I mean she can harass some with it, but c'mon, don't get hit enough for it to matter.

Sivir's range is low, but she gets movespeed whenever she damages something. Not the ideal solution but its something. Plus her ult and her waveclear are strong.

They tried to nerf Annie's range, but it never went through. She still has 25 range less than Caitlyn.

For the OP, Riot has actively tried to keep Sivir's attack range low. When she got a rework, they outright refused to budge there, with the hope that they could stick unique power elsewhere in her kit to make up for it. Whether that's currently functional or not is up to debate.

Annie on the other hand was designed to be the premier entry level, training mage. Her auto attack is ridiculously high because they wanted to double down on making her laning easy. It makes little difference later on, but 625 actually is pretty potent at the start of the game.

SHE NEEDS THE RANGE FOR HARASSMENT! ... Yeah I don't buy that either. Her Q hits like a truck and is intended to be her primary farming tool anyways.

Sivir has lower than average range because of her passive, which allows for easier kiting and chasing, her boomerang, a very long range penetrating skill shot, and her ricochet, which effectively increases her AA range. Having a larger range would make trading with her unfair.

Annie has none of those things, low range and no mobility - not even a speed boost - to keep her safe, so she is allowed a larger AA range.

I remember her getting a range decrease some time ago. I can't find it on the lolwiki. Was that Thresh?
