She's always been a more annoying Jayce to me. At least when Jayce goes to melee form, he has no escape, nid meanwhile has infinite manaless escapes. Can't see her staying as she currently is though, as she's too dominant.

Dominant? Are you serious? Nidalee is a mediocre jungler at best because she has to take kills instead of donating them to her laners in order to remain relevant, while J4 and Lee Sin have utility built into their kits so it doesn't matter if they hand over the kills. Nidalee is also very reliant on blue buff, so she can't donate that to the midlaner, and with Nidalee as your jungler, you don't have an initiator.

I'm pretty sure landing a spear from the jungle is enough of an initiate, because those spears do crazy damage at the end of their flight

Nidalee is squishy, and if she follows up on a spear in a teamfight, she's going to get deleted.

Who said anything about following up? Her follow up dash is an execution, not an initiation.

She can't kill with her spears from ranged unless the enemy is very close to death like in smite range. Her dash is initiation and if she dashes into a large group of enemies to try to kill the one she landed the spear on she is going to die.

AP Nid still maintains largely the same play patterns as she did before the rework. She floats around the edge of fights, chucking high damage spears, hoping to land just one of them. Knowing that the damage on her spears is still ridiculous - especially at max range.

The biggest change from before is instead of 1-shotting the carries and 2-shotting the tanks, she can dive in at the end of the team fight and play clean-up crew.

AP Nid doesn't jump into the front line. Bruiser Nid, maybe. But then she's forced to build tanky anyways.

Nidalee is straight up my least favorite champion to play against. Her kit is horribly designed. I don't like playing against the spear chucking nidalee pre-rework and I really don't like playing against the spear chucking nidalee with a Garen ultimate on a 4 second cooldown in cougar form.

This always existed. Nidalee has counterplay, its called sidestepping her spears. Exactly she only needs to land one spear but that also has a downside. The spear speed is very slow, which is another reason why Nidalee jungle is getting so good. Just ward to prevent blind spears. She also gets screwed by hard CC

Except one of her skins is broken. I fkn hate Headhunter Nidalee's spear. It's looks tinier/skinnier in width and it's just red compared to her original skin which is brown + orange. I feel like this is harder for some people to see.

I agree that it looks thinner, but being red makes it contrast with the ground more. In my personal experience, this makes it easier to see, if anything.

They have counterplay beyond just having more stats than them, granted Yasuo sometimes doesn't seem to have much, and Kalista forces melees to work their asses off for minimum wage chasing her.

I don't remember BotRK being available when AD Nid was queen of top lane. But that was a long time ago when cougar form's AD scaling and defense bonuses were truly outrages.
