Anyone else feel like AP junglers can't compete?

Seems like if you're not AD, you can't really jungle. You clear at like quarter health, have weaker ganks (unless you're someone like Sej, Zac or Eve), and have much more counterplay than the AD junglers.

But then, AD is stronger in general, so I'm not really surprised.

What would make non-tank AP junglers able to compete?

its because they just cant, their clears are significantly slower, nearly on par with tank junglers.

its not that what they offer isn't desirable (between their utility or their mixed damage) its just that a lot of AD's are significantly better.

AP's need way more bonus damage to monsters, when they build damage, like raw ap damage, they still clear slower than AD's, and most of them build hybrid anyway.

Which AP junglers are you referring to?

Diana clears extremely well. Fiddle sort of clears well. I think Sejuani's clear is actually really weak, but technically she's a tank.

All AP junglers that aren't named Diana and aren't tanks. Compare them to literally any AD jungler, even AD tanks.

Ad junglers are pretty strong in general right now. They are mostly early game junglers and how the jungle is designed will always promote early game Jglers.

It goes beyond that. Look at any AD jungler -- they just have more damage, more sustain, more everything. AP people can assassinate one person, but ADs can do that too, as well as AoE damage, as well as a lot of CC, as well as a lot of sustain... I feel like it's just champs in general. AD champs have too many strengths, AP champs can't even compete in their "strong" areas.

Can you name the AP junglers you're referring to? I'm having a mind block but all I can think of is Fiddle and Diana as true AP junglers.

And the biggest issue isn't that they don't do good damage or that itemization sucks, the real issue is jungle clearing, similarly to the issue tanks are having. Diana circumvents that with attack speed+her shield, which is nice.

AP, capable of jungling (or classic junglers), all struggling.

And then Rumble isn't struggling to clear, but his ganks just can't compare to any AD clicker.

Amumu is more tank than AP, and he actually clears fine.

Ekko is intended for mid-lane.

Eve is fine? I didn't know she had issues.

Fizz intended for mid-lane. When he became a popular jungle(when jungle item was sheen proc) they quickly nerfed it.

Maokai is a top laner?

Fiddle clears fine.

Nidalee is really the only one on that list I think is struggling with actual clears and that is intended to be a jungler in her current state.

There really aren't many AP champs intended for the jungle, so expecting any AP champ to be able to clear isn't realistic. If you're really desperate for an AP jungler just play Diana. She's incredibly strong atm.
