Zed's EWQ combo at lvl 3 deals roughly 40% of your health

DropFill··26 votes·3,909 views

Every 18s, assuming no cdr. At lvl 3. Edit: He is not mana gated, his build offers offensive stats while having extremely good MR options, and he can spam his abilities without risk because he uses energy Edit2 : His shadow has 700 range, not 550 as I have said several times. Easy to stay 700 units away from him, also remember he can walk too ok?

Lmao. Your point? It'll take a whole 36 seconds of full spell rotations to kil you. Go figure.

Don't eat both Q's and his E every time he throws his shadow out. It's fairly short range.

Hop off the Zed band wagon, kid. One forms roughly every season and dies off and people always wonder why.

Saying don't eat both Q is easy when he can E while his shadow is still reaching its final range , and the shadow will still mimick it. Easy to dodge without a dash his combo after being slowed.

Nahui2 votes

No, there's no when. His shadow is short range. He and his shadow both throw a Q. If you're in his own Q range sure, but the beauty of being a mage is that you can have range and really should be taking one Q and E at most.

Like the guy under me said. Get better at dodging. Bootless xerath can do it, so can you.

Straw Hat Loki7 votes

Isn't that similar to a full LB combo or Syndra or Vel'koz or Viktor or Fizz or Malzahar combo all at Level 3?

ModWulf Helhammer4 votes

Adding to that: Xerath combo, Katarina combo, Nidalee combo, Viktor combo, Quinn combo, Garen combo, every champion that deals damage's combo

Xerath combo is 3 skillshots, and costs half if not more mana bar. Nidalee is a jungler, not a mid laner. Quinn combo? She E into you, AA, QQ , AA. Half of it are AA ,which doesn't cost mana. Garen is not a mid laner

Voluug133 votes

Mana, Melee, Mana/melee, Mana, Mana, Melee.

Also its not like Garen midlanes. Or Nidalee anymore, for that matter.

Mana restricted, and they skill are way easier to dodge. Also, malzahar Q is one of the most easy to avoid skillshots that don't damage at all early.

What idiot tried to do a full malzahar combo?

Except Malzahar doesn't have a full combo until 6 except if you are blind and don't see you are standing on his W or you can't dodge his Q , which is very , very, VERY easy. Fizz can't farm safely as zed, nor can poke like him. Viktor only deals this amount of dmg after buying his 1k item WHILE being immobile, while zed is fairly mobile and can buy hexdrinker to make viktor obsolete. LB combo takes the exact same amount to do, but lb CAN'T POKE. None of them can except velkoz, that can be easily stomped by you know, zed.

Squishy immobile mana gated without a realiable self peel? Yes, velkoz stomped by zed

Vanic9982 votes

I stomp Zeds all the time as Vel'Koz. I haven't fed a Zed since before I was level 30.

Vistha Kai5 votes

Such a great sample size and quality. Listen, just because you played aganist wimps doesn't mean it happens aganist "normal" players.

For example I've seen people who vouch Orianna counters Zed, while in fact I've never lost this matchup as Zed. Or that Zed can't possibly think about winning the lane aganist Riven, while it's one of the funniest matchups I played (and won) as Zed.

Vanic9983 votes

Weird, I find playing against Zed easier then playing against Heimerdinger.

Vistha Kai2 votes

It's great you have an opinion.

No need to be an ass and say it like if that was a fact, though.

Vanic9981 votes

I'm not being an ass. How am I being an ass when I'm claiming that it's weird? I've never claimed that it was a fact that Zed is easier to deal with than Heimerdinger. I seriously mean that Heimer is harder to deal with to me.

Yeah. Totally.

YCitizenSnipsY1 votes

You say that like he shouldn't be or something. Who else is even going to reach Vel'koz to put him in danger outside of an assassin?

Voluug131 votes

Another long range midlaner.

Vistha Kai1 votes

A mid range one is fine too.

YCitizenSnipsY1 votes

http://champion.gg/champion/Velkoz

Really? Because MId/long range midlaners seem to be some of his best match ups right now. Meanwhile three of his worst match ups are assassins, I wonder if thats a coincidence?

Vistha Kai1 votes

The sample size is very low.

I could easily pick champions like Azir, Karma, Diana, Ziggs or Syndra and wipe the floor with all, but the best Vel'Koz players.

Even so, close range champions like Malzahar, Cho'Gath or Brand still have a statistical advantage over Vel'Koz. Same for mid range ones like Morgana or Cassiopeia.

But we are speaking about 50 games worth of matchups here.

Voluug132 votes

You can run away from Malz. His Q is easy to evade, and only silences. His W is basically an static dot you can walk from. His E is mostly used for farming, and has shitty range.

Literally the only way you can get outtraded or harassed by Malz is by letting yourself be jumped by Es from minions AND he has a stage 2 voidling out.

protoss nub6 votes

only a brain dead retard thinks zed is fair right now

Craft Zeppelin4 votes

with this logic we will be buffing yi because he has only one attack skill

SithesisLord4 votes

So? I can do the same with Kayle and Morde. And Pantheon. And Renekton. And Shyvana. And Elise. And Irelia.

Pretty much every champion i play or have played before is like that at level 3.

The difference is that the only targeted ability on Zed is his ult. All the others can be dodged.

That´s how you turn 40% health damage into less or even nothing.

Zorasama6 votes

"Can be dodge" <<< not really 100% true.

He can places his shadow on top of you and Q+E. He might miss Q (but not likely >.>, he has to aim it really bad.) but he won't miss E since it's almost instant.

Ackelope

don't stand so damn close to him if he's throwing the shadow on top of you, then...

Zorasama5 votes

HIs shadow has 700 Range, plus 290 E radius. And he can use this combo in less than half second.

Not so "Damn close".

Ackelope1 votes

maybe he can cast his whole combo in less than a second, but there are certainly visual cues put on his spells that allow you to know he's about to cast them. look, i don't think zed is balanced right now, but people are definitely exaggerating his strength.

Zorasama4 votes

I didn't exaggerating his strength at all. His laning power is too strong. Too safe, strong poke, no mana, lv6 all-in easy kill.

DropFill2 votes

{quoted}

His shadow has a 550 range. Which is equal or greater to any mid lane champion AA range. So stop saying " don't stand so damn close ". I am at my AA range, can't stay any longer without losing tons of farm

Ackelope1 votes

Honestly I didn't mean to come across as rough with my first comment, but of course obviously did, so I apologize for that. Nevertheless, I don't think Zed is balanced, but I do think that people are exaggerating how strong he really is. He can do a lot of potential dmg, and until you get counters to his burst, that potential dmg is always there, but once you actually get zhonya's and qss and the likes, he becomes much less annoying. armor pen is also weaker than it has been. I'm pretty sure Zed has a truckload of dmg in his kit and far too much, but simply because he becomes much harder to use the longer the game goes, his winrate won't go too high above 50%. Also, I realize this is a completely different subject than his lane harass power, but I think it sums up my ideas better, seeing as I myself have experienced how annoying his harass is (aka i contradict myself far too often)

Yeaaaaaa NO. When you have been one shotted with a Q after QSSing his ult and deathblade marks while dashing away, then come back and try to argue that he's less "annoying." He is annoying in every part of the game, even when you build every defensive item you can against him.

nymtheraven1 votes

Zed's ult is completely countered by two items. Zonya's and the bandana. Without his ult he is hardly much of a threat. He doesn't need to be nerfed. If he is nerfed anymore he will basically be useless. His early game and lane presence are strong. So? what about La Blanc who can take half your health at level 3? What about Anivia who can slow and kill you at level 3? There are so many champs with ridiculous kits to complain about. Zed is easy to outplay with items and some brain power.

Not everyone can buy bandana, buying zhonyas early heavily cripples you only for SURVIVING zed ULTIMATE. Anivia can slow you and kill you at lvl 3 what? Lb doesn't have poke nor zed waveclear, and is also mana gated.

Baunjo1 votes

Why WOULDNT you want to survive zed's ultimate? He loses the majority of his kill pressure when he has it on cool down. Play aggressive when it is and fuck him up if he doesn't play safe. People need to learn how to play around cool downs and they won't have these issues.

MissMikasa1 votes

Yea, try "fucking him up" after he ults you, when he's already blinked back to god knows what awful distance away from you. Have fun trying to do that. Unless he comes back to wave clear, maybe then you can but by that time his spells are probably off CD. So basically he's too hard to kill.

Baunjo1 votes

The point is he doesn't have even close to the same pressure in lane as he did before. And by the way, at level 6 his ult has a 120 second cooldown, and unless they put points into W early like a fking noob his W has an 18 SECOND LONG COOLDOWN. If you cannot play around that window, zed should be that last champion you should worry about.

MissMikasa2 votes

He can still Q and E as they are shorter cooldowns. So after he ults you, you Zhonya, he blinks back, therefore you are out of range depending on what champion you are playing to try to harass him back, therefore making you have to move up to get in range, and by then his Q and E are off CD and his W is close, so if you are a slow mage with no dash for example, try getting into range to poke only to get slapped in the face with a Q combo because you are to slow to dodge unless you have boots or are playing an assassin that can dash away to dodge.

I'm just saying it's really hard to punish Zed for trying to kill you, that's all.

Baunjo1 votes

You're such a basket case man, Im sorry but I'm trying not to get upset with you and it is not working. Zed was my most played champ s5 with an 81% win rate. I am not just guessing, hypothesizing, that 19% loss was from people who knew how to do exactly what I just told you. The best way to learn how to play against a champion is to play them yourself, or at the VERY LEAST LISTEN to the people who play them when they tell you what you are doing wrong.

MissMikasa1 votes

Me? A basket case? Wow. You sound more like one than me.

Anyway, yes I have played Zed, and in fact hate him. I'm better with AP mages and assassins. Also, I have played many matchups against him. I still hate him. He's still a broken piece of shit.

I do listen, but also know when people are wrong or know when I'm doing things right.

Calm down, man.

120 CD. With new deathtimers, by the time you come back to the lane, the CD will probably be at 90s. This assuming he has no cdr. So every 1min and half he can engage and kill you. Fun. 18s long CD? Not like he can use his Q while that shit is on CD

Zed late game is not weak, is only weaker than his early game. Also, a single 3500 purchase that makes you stay static only makes him ult someone else. Basically all your carries have to buy items only to counter zed. And QSS gives mr, which doesn't reduce his damage at all.

so everyone has 0 armor now? and are all his attacks magically enchanted in such a way that he never misses? almost every damage dealer has a combo that can take out a stupid amount of HP if they land their full combo. The plan is to dodge the combos and not eat it every single time he has it available. Learn to predict when the enemy is about to combo you, learn to use your defensive abilities to your advantage and learn to use your ranged abilities to your advantage. Learn to play your champion and not counterpick yourself and if you get counterpicked then be sure to ask your jungler for help.

Asking help to your jungler all the time is bad advice. Also, zed can lose his combo as much as he wants because he doesn't lose much by missing it.
