My best Aatrox rework idea so far. Take a look!

Hey Meddler! Is this going in the direction you guys are thinking of taking Aatrox? Too many reworks are just making him stronger in different ways. There tons of divers assassins and fighters and juggernauts. We don't need more of the same. We need a dark commander, someone that plays different.

Passive Original: Whenever Aatrox consumes health, he stores it into his Blood Well, which can hold up to 105 - 870 (based on level) health. The Blood Well depletes by 2% per second if Aatrox hasn't dealt or received damage in the last 5 seconds.

Aatrox gains 0.3 - 0.55 (based on level)% bonus attack speed for every 1% in his Blood Well, up to a maximum of 30 - 55 (based on level)% bonus attack speed.

Upon taking fatal damage, Aatrox is cleansed of all debuffs, enters Stasis icon stasis and drains his Blood Well, healing himself over the next 3 seconds for 36.75 - 304.5 (based on level) health (+ 100% of Blood Well's stored health) up to a maximum of 141.75 - 1174.5 (based on level) health. ** New Passive: Aatrox has 50% Tenacity against Fears and Taunts. Bloodwell--Whenever Aatrox consumes health, he stores it into his Blood Well, which can hold up to 105 - 870 (based on level) health. The Blood Well depletes by 1% per second if Aatrox hasn't dealt or received damage in the last 10 seconds.**

Aatrox gains 0.5 - 0.75 (based on level)% bonus attack speed for every 1% in his Blood Well, up to a maximum of 50 - 75 (based on level)% bonus attack speed.

Upon taking fatal damage, Aatrox is cleansed of all debuffs, enters Stasis icon stasis and drains his Blood Well, healing himself over the next 3 seconds for 36.75 - 304.5 (based on level) health (+ 100% of Blood Well's stored health) up to a maximum of 141.75 - 1174.5 (based on level) health**

Dark Flight Original:

Active: Aatrox dashes to the target area after a brief delay, dealing physical damage to nearby units upon landing and knocking up all units in the epicenter for 1 second Physical Damage: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 60% bonus AD)_

New Dark Flight: Aatrox dashes to the target area after a brief delay, dealing physical damage to nearby units upon landing and Airborne icon knocking up all units in the epicenter for 1 second and slowing units outside of the epicenter for 20% and dealing Physical Damage: 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 60% bonus AD)Slow Duration .25/.50/.75/1/1.25

Blood Thirst/Blood Price Original: Passive: Aatrox applies a bonus on-hit effect on every third hit against non-structures.

Toggle Off: Blood Thirst: Aatrox heals himself on-hit. While Aatrox is below 50% maximum health, heal is tripled.Heal: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 (+ 25% bonus AD) Blood Price Toggle On: Blood Price: Aatrox consumes health to deal quadruple the amount as bonus on-hit physical damage./Physical Damage: 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+ 100% bonus AD)

**New W--Living Blade. Passive: Aatrox heals himself on-hit (every hit). While Aatrox is below 50% maximum health, heal is tripled.Heal: 5/ 10/15/20/25 (+20% Bonus AD)(+1% Bonus Health) ** Active-Blood Brother--for 6 seconds Aatrox Heals are redirected towards nearby allied champions and Aatrox gains a blood shield of 50/100/150/200/250 (+25% of current Blood Well) (+10% Bonus Health)

Blades of Torment Original: Aatrox unleashes two converging energy waves in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all units hit and Slow icon slowing them by 40%. Magic Damage: 75 / 110 / 145 / 180 / 215 (+ 60% AP) (+ 60% bonus AD) Slow Duration: 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 2.75 ** Blades of Torment New: Aatrox unleashes two converging energy waves in the target direction, dealing magic damage to all units hit granting vision on the target and slowing them by 40%. Magic Damage: 75 / 110 / 145 / 180 / 215 (+ 75% bonus AD) Slow Duration: 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 2.75 Vision Duration: 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2**

Massacre Original:Active: Aatrox draws in the blood of his foes, dealing magic damage to nearby enemy champions and filling his Blood Well.png Blood Well by 20% of its maximum value for each enemy champion hit.Magic Damage: 200 / 300 / 400 (+ 100% AP)Additionally, Aatrox gains bonus attack speed and attack range for 12 seconds.Attack Speed: 40 / 50 / 60%

New Ultimate: Fearless Commander: Aatrox takes flight and at target location near any allied champion in combat. Upon landing nearby enemy champions are feared for 1 second. Range of teleport is based on % full of Blood Well, and costs half of the current Blood Well to cast. For 8 seconds allied champions nearby gain 30/40/50 Tenacity and 20/30/40% Attack Speed and Aatrox gains 50/60/70 tenacity and 10/15/20 bonus armor and magic resist per nearby allied Champion. All allied champions moving towards Aatrox who are not in his ult range gain 20/30/40% movement speed.

So let me summarize: I removed the passive revive and his ult no longer deals any damage or gives any attack speed buffs. To compensate he gains more attack speed from his Blood Well and it drains at a slower rate. He has a little more CC with this dive, a little more utility and damage with this poke. His W heal is toned down slightly, and he no longer has bonus damage, but instead can shield himself and heal allies as an active while he ceased to heal himself for the duration of the active. His ult can only be activated when an ally is in combat and close enough (depending on how full blood well is), and truly lives up to his lore--appearing out of nowhere, inspiring his allies to fight and being a fearful presence to enemies. And while I am hesitant to give him a semi-global ult just because of how often Riot seems to be doing that recently, I feel it fits his lore. It is also unique--its an ult that does no damage, nor grants any bonus damage but clearly could be very devastating to a team fight. These changes make Aatrox a viable top laner, jungler AND even support because of his ability to heal allies, shield himself and grant vision on poked targets.

This needs some better formatting. I'd suggest editing it to make the distinction between old and new a bit more clear. (At first I thought you double copy pasted.)

Also I don't think "Blood Portal" would fit his thematic as an avatar of war, it sounds more like something that belongs to Vlad, also his current ultimate fits him very well, drawing in enemies and extending the range of his carnage. Also making him more team oriented in my opinion isn't the right way to go, especially with the top lane neglect.

Check again, I was editing it after I posted it. Also, don't fucking knit pick at the names like Blood Portal--they are just working titles. Geez.

I wasn't nitpicking at the -name- I was nitpicking at how it -works-, a teleportation ability like ryze just wouldn't fit him.

Haha why not? hes a winged demon with a living weapon....but him being able to channel the blood into magic to teleport is a stretch? Really?? I mean, geez, Panth can basically jump halfway across the map...how does that fit thematically? Some sandal wearing Roman..of all things, jumps super far?

Ight let me just put it this way.

He has wings... then he's gonna go into a body of liquid, thats in the ground.

Sounds like a dead bird to me.

Aatrox was also inspired by Balrog and Sauron,

Also aatrox isn't "Mystical" in any sense, once again his thematic is a "Cruel, Bloody, and Savage" character, focusing on pure physical violence.

Also yes that fits Pantheon PERFECTLY,

(From his lore page)

The peerless warrior known as Pantheon is a nigh-unstoppable paragon of battle. He was born among the Rakkor, a warlike people living on the flanks of Mount Targon, and after climbing the mountain's treacherous peak and being deemed worthy, he was chosen to become the earthly incarnation of the celestial Aspect of War. Imbued with inhuman power, he relentlessly seeks the enemies of Targon, leaving only corpses in his wake.

Also he's based off of Roman Mythology it's not uncommon... Often the pantheon is depicted as place amongst the clouds atop the mountain, shrouded in mystery a place where only those with god like strength could reach.

He could fly and lane at the location. Lets talk about the ult, not the mechanism or name, but the effect on game play.

How an ultimate works and the mechanic is part of the ult (And once again no one is complaining about the name)

The problem with his ult being another movement ability though is it just degrades his kit, essentially there would be a lesser and greater form. His ult right now is perfectly fine, the thing he needs most is just changes to his Q and W (Rito is really against on hit effects now)

Great. So Aatrox takes flight lands at the battle. Happy?

Obviously you did not read what I just stated... But I shall reiterate.

"The problem with his ult being another movement ability though is it just degrades his kit, essentially there would be a lesser and greater form."

This would be the same thing as blitz having a pull with damage, and one without. It's just a bad kit and would feel clunky.

DarkinPrime1 votes

Obviously you didn't read my entire post. His kit is a bit stronger overall, just without the same ult. Also, an AOE team effect ult is not a good comparison for blittzs pull

MadManApocalypse1 votes

Overall it's not stronger it's horribly fucking busted.. Losing his revive is crucial to his gameplay. giving him that much healing to allies would not be healthy. Giving him vision on his blades is nice, i'll admit that.

Not to mention the new ultimate is a wet dream combination of Olaf, Kled, and Ryze. The amount of power in that thing is way to strong with a team, and without a team he loses his power spike in top lane and would be even weaker in lane.

A teamfight ult could fit his thematic, but the problem is it will destroy his lane phase, leaving him further oppressed in lane.

Aatrox's' style is being the first into battle and just decimating people before they decide to join in. The reason why his current ultimate fits so well is because he leaps into the fray then pulls people near (Granted it's a small radius) before unleashing an onslaught onto the enemy.

Remember aatrox is a drain tank, all about extended trades and out living the enemy

DarkinPrime1 votes

The ult can be scaled down, OBVIOUSLY.

Who cares if he loses a power spike in top lane? Why doe every champ have to be the same? This would be champ that gives up a level 6 power spike in lane for stronger team fighting. So what?

FYI. He doesn't pull people near when he ults. He just does damage and fills his blood well. Not sure how or why you think that. But its nice to see someone who doesn't even know the champion in question being so passionate about his opinion.

"aatrox is a drain tank"

So what? Riot is going to rework him, and most likely move away from the drain tank concept. So my idea not fitting with his drain tank theme is not unreasonable

Also "Imbued with inhuman power"

Dude, most of these champions have inhuman power. Doesn't mean they can jump across a map.

AurelionSol Nocturne TwistedFate Warwick

Noteable mentions for long distance jumps

Katarina Zed Ryze RekSai Leblanc

The thing is though it fits Pantheons' thematic. It's how he was designed to be. A warrior that falls from the heavens like a comet to strike down those in the name of justice.

DarkinPrime1 votes

Okay great. So Aatrox who has wings can take flight and land at the target location. Problem solved.

SeaGodUrronuos2 votes

Well yea its a stretch Vladimir would be better for that but he doesn't seem like the person who would need a teleport for any reason, his wings are for his q and you seem pretty mad that someone called out that something doesn't fit with his character, its not like he was like " god your such a idiot you should scrap the whole thing because this name sucks gosh" like seriously take some constructive criticism.

DarkinPrime1 votes

It not constructive criticism. We could have him just fly there too if that makes people happy. He isn't commenting on 95 percent of the rework, just focusing in on one thing so he can give his 2 cents.

SeaGodUrronuos1 votes

Are you just ignorant or what? Hes telling you because it doesnt seem to fit the rest of his kit so chill.

Passive fear immunization is too strong against Fiddle's, WW, etc, while useless against anything else. It'll take it's place in his power budget though, weakening him overall.

W's on hit applying against minions and the active have me worried, as he could be slapping jungle monsters or minions and healing his allies. Would be sweet seeing an Aatrox tank Baron and be healing his allies while they fight off the contest with this, though. Not sure if him slapping minions to heal allies is ok... 6 seconds is a lot, and with lifesteal he could potentially heal an ally to full from nothing. Is it fully applied to all allies? What %? I'm also not liking how it'd enforce the ADC draintank thing we have going on.

Ult sh ould give movespeed.

Having a non-combat ult which works with allies means top lane is even more jungler decided. Also, no level 6 spike is painful as hell. I feel like these changes could make into the next Shen - go full tank + Tiamat, split push, ult to fights and protect allies with the %bonus health scaling, although that a tiny scaling. Changing it to be only in combat with champions would help him out a lot, as it would mean it could be stronger while not making him a sustain bot. Anyway, back to Shen analogy. Attack speed + Tiamat + bases means he still does damage to the back line, and depending on how big the range is would depend on whether he'd want to slap the front line and tank or zone the back line.

Honestly I think some %health damage is in order for Aatrox, he really can't deal with tanks well rn. He is also so squishy as of now, if building lifesteal items...

DarkinPrime1 votes

If you build item 3812 item 3046 as your core build with Aatox both of those items reduce or delay damage. It makes him very strong, and not so easily bursted down.

Fear immunization fits him thematically--his talk of courage etc. Why should he be feared? And why not have him be able to actually be a real counter pick sometimes? Fucking champions get all sorts of passives the block and negate abilities...what Aatrox can't have anything?

Yes but no one gets a passive thats a direct "Fuck you"

Okay I changed it to Aatrox has 50% tenacity against Fears and Taunts, and removed the fear immunity from his ult, but gave allied champions bonus attack speed as well. Better?

all he needs is a passive attack speed bonus starting at 2% adding 1% per lvl. giving him lifesteal every hit would ruin rageblade. not being able to be feared would be unfair to squishy shaco/nocturne/volibear. Give him a stun release on his ult would make things fair he would lose the damage from ult but give him a chance to live.Giving him a higher heal amount like he should have would help also.

DarkinPrime1 votes

Yes, it would make Aatrox a strong counter pick against champions that fear. Why cant Aatrox be a counterpick? Everyone had counter picks.

The thing is anti-fear is good against

Fiddlesticks Hecarim Nocturne Shaco Warwick

What do these all have in common? They're mainly junglers, now don't get me wrong seeing jg aatrox again would be nice.

Also that's a very NICHE passive, also passives that directly counter an enemy champion isn't good counterplay, it's boring, stale, and dumb.

But yeah a passive where he has extra tenacity would for sure be a good replacement, making him less of a niche pick.

I really like the new ultimate and the lorewise interactions. but why would you remove the revive?

DarkinPrime1 votes

Because he would have an active shield from his W instead, and instead of dying and losing all of his attack speed, he would be able to store more attack speed and have it drain slower. Also, being immune to fear is very strong, and may be too strong. In I changed it to Aatrox has 50% tenacity against Fears and Taunts, and removed the fear immunity from his ult, but gave allied champions bonus attack speed as well.
