Can we just revert Akali to pre mini rework?
The champion has managed to have the highest ban rate while having one of, if not the lowest win rate in the game.
“But Pierce The Veal,” you exclaim,” winrate doesn’t mean anything!”
When the champion’s mains are quitting her/the game because of the rework, when the irelia rework is literally a better akali than akali herself, when the rework is just toxic to play against while simultaneously being weak, and when a mid-late game champion gets shafted to early game by a rework, you know there’s a problem.
Akali used to be a teamfight assassin that sucked in lane. Before you jump me for saying this, I want you to think back to/go back to the akali BEFORE the mini rework. Back when akali’s passive wasn’t some wonky free massive heal massive damage two hit passive. That is what made her strong in lane before the rework. Prior to that she only played to scale. Her passive gave her spell vamp based on her bonus AD and %bonus damage on autos based on her AP.
Riot has turned what was a scaling late game assassin into an early game fancy early game lcs big plays gimmick.
All in all, we have everyone complaining about new akali. Even the mains want her reverted, but Riot is holding firm on their silly rework because it is a “new mechanic” and “high skill, flashy gameplay.”
All in all, the old, old Akali should be reinstated. Heck, turn her old Q into a skillshot, maybe take something from the new akali’s Q or e or something and merge it into a new E. Give her back her old unclunky ult prior to when they randomly made its cooldown a static 2 seconds between dashes. And give her back her old spell vamp and %bonus damage on autos passive. Bam! We have a balanceable Akali who no longer lacks skillful gameplay while still maintaining potential for counterplay. She regains her identity as a sustain assassin.
The truth of the matter is Akali mains liked Akali for everything except the shroud, the shroud was the cherry on the top prior to the rework. But the rework made it the centerpiece, and focused on her ability to outplay a single opponent rather than her identity of the champion who flitted from one side of the teamfight to another. This has left both the Akali mains and the people facing them sore.
