So when is AP Ezreal getting nerfed?

Back before Nidalee's "rebalance" (which in reality just made her vastly more powerful by giving her new strengths without touching the old ones) the prime complaint was that her playstyle was entirely "hang back and throw spears forever because they cost nothing, have a low cd, and do 1200+ damage." Now AP Ezreal is the hot new thing and he's literally an even more extreme version. His Q is Nid's old Q but with an even lower cost and cooldown, reduces his other cooldowns, and applies on-hit effects. His W does more damage but is shorter range, but can be used to buff allies. His E is summoner flash with a targeted ap nuke attatched, and his ult is a global 1k+ mixed-scaling nuke that has 40-second cd base which can be lowered near to 20 just by spamming his Q more.

As for "weaknesses," he has no cc which doesn't really count because there are four other members on his team that can cover the role. He's squishy, which again, doesn't count because he has a better version of Flash built right into his kit. His only real weaknesses are Yasuo and Braum blocking his projectiles and you can just ban them out. He's a cancerous champion with a counter-intuitive playstyle but no _counterplay._ He is in serious need of addressing.

Let's see, his Q is entirely physical damage that he can't itemize for, he NEEDS 40% cooldown reduction and multiple items to be effective, he has mainly single target damage (QE), and he brings no utility to his team except for his W's AS buff. In return, he has massive damage when he gets his items because he has nothing else.

So, he'll be nerfed whenever he is actually a problem.

Wow, wrong right off the bat. He can itemize it, Runeglaive turns the next auto (or Ezreal Q) into purely magic damage. 40% CDR isn't difficult for AP champions, especially when every Q he lands reduces all of his cooldowns. He doesn't need utility when one QW combo one-shots anyone squishy and has a grand total of 3 second cooldown. He** is **a problem, an enormous one.

Except Runeglaive changing the attack into magic damage was not intended and is going away in the next patch, 40% cdr requires at LEAST one 20% cooldown reduction item (and due to his Q reducing cooldowns 40% cooldown reduction is required for damage), and unless the squishy is 5+ levels and multiple items behind Ezreal needs multiple combos to kill.

Math. Q does 115 (+1.1 AD, +.4 AP) and procs on hit effects. W does 250 (+.8 AP). Assuming Lichbane, his total ratios are 440.75 (+1.1 AD, +1.2 AP). Assuming base AD as this is AP ezreal, he has 541.75 (+1.2 AP). Base health is generally ~2k at level 18; disregarding magic resistance, Ezreal needs 1216 AP to kill with QW and a Lichbane. After the AP item changes, this would require a Taric ultimate and an entire runepage dedicated to scaling AP among other things. It is almost impossible for Ezreal to one shot a squishy with QW, even with every odd in his favor (after base MR for example the AP needed jumps to ~1400, which is impossible for Ezreal to obtain).

I hadn't heard about Runeglaive. If that's the case, then a major part of the problem is being addressed, which is great. Again, 40% CDR is not difficult to achieve. Put 15% in your Runes, get the 5% from the first tier of the Mastery tree, and then get Morellonomicon. That's 40% CDR with one item. As for a single combo not insta-nuking; I'm not always convinced the numbers displayed play out the way they're supposed to. Even if they do, one Q proccing both Luden's and Runeglaive is a huge chunk out of the opponents ass with no risk, no cost, and no cooldown on Ezreal's end. All he has to do is hang back, throw Nidalee spears and E out when things get hairy. And that certainly isn't addressing the fact that his ult can take 2/3 of multiple targets' hp at immense range, and the Runeglaive changes won't affect it at all.

one Q proccing both Luden's and Runeglaive

Update your client. That was removed this patch.

just because it turns the attack into magic damage doesnt mean it scales purely off of ap it still has a shitty ap scaling it just does magic damage

Slow down just a second.

First, around Thursday Runeglaive is loosing it's convert-to-magic-damage component, meaning everyone will be more resistant to Ezreal Q's. It'll also lose it's AoE, hurting his waveclear and making him take longer to scale up. These two things alone will nerf him back to about where he was, with the biggest difference being more people know his potential.

Second of all, you're throwing around late game damage numbers. Around the time Ezreal is killing people with QW, an equally fed Vayne is killing people in the same amount of time with 2-3 auto attacks, an equally fed Azir is running you down with soilders, an equally fed Riven is diving your team 1v3 and winning, etc. If you're using that standard to tell who's OP or not, you're going to be asking for a lot of nerfs for a lot of champions.

Third, 3/4 of Ezreals abilities are either completely negated by minons/monsters or have their power reduced by them. That should tell you a thing or two about counterplay. DON'T FIGHT HIM IN A CLEARED JUNGLE! Fighting in lane with your minions near by will give you a distinct advantage. That E "targeted nuke" doesn't prioritize champions, just the nearest unit.

If I seem a bit defensive, it's because I've been playing AP Ezreal for the last year. He's strong when he gets going, but useless if he's being held down in gold, and he can't win the game on his own.

He was strong before runeglaive showed up. That's what makes posts like this arrogantly stupid.

He could snipe you from across the map for half-health. AP Ezreal was made to be a fragile, nuke-heavy caster with little defense. He has horrible early game and miserable mana sustain -- Runeglaive only partly fixes that, but it makes his early-game strong enough to suffice better than before.

He could always do this much damage if he was played right. He's entirely skill-shot dependant except for one spell. If you're getting nuked by his entire kit and dying..Learn to not walk in obvious straight lines, or recall in obvious positions. He doesn't need nerfed, he needs to not be able to abuse a 'jungler' item.

Yeah, "His lack of CC doesn't count because other members on his team can have CC" really isn't anything close to valid. If you want to argue that then a champion lacking anything is not a weakness because other members have it instead. If Ezreal isn't weaker than he would be with CC because his teammates can make up for it, then surely he would not be any stronger if his ultimate also stunned everyone it hit?

"Dodge" is not a valid argument. If it was, Nidalee wouldn't have been reworked.

Literally the only thing Runeglaive did to Ez was fix his mana issues
