Riven is a fighter/bruiser that needs that mr yasuo just builds glass canon and is more of a melee adc.

MR per level is a melee thing. Riven is a melee champion.

Compared to a wide range of melee assassin/fighters, there's no reason Riven shouldn't have scaling MR. It's also worth noting her defensive mechanic is an HP shield that requires some bulk, where most fighter/assassins have things like untargetability, 100% dodge chance, projectile-blocking walls, spell-shields, clones, invisibility, or other such mechanics with 100% damage block potential, so Riven is already squishier than most fighters by default.

Also, nerffing consistent things across everyone is pretty sub-optimal design IMO. Riven isn't ever a problem because she has the same exact amount of MR per level as most melee champions after all.

I have no idea why Yasou doesn't have MR per level scaling, as the only other melees that currently lack it are Jayce Kayle Nidalee Gnar Maokai Elise Poppy Yasuo .

Yasou, Mao, and Poppy are the only truely melee champions in that group as well, 5 are ranged champions for most of the game.

It's worth noting Shen Singed Gragas Galio didn't have MR scaling for a while, but everyone was kind of like, WTF? Especially with Galio.

I think the deal with Mao is he's pretty much always been around top-tier and Riot's never had a reason to put him in line with other melees by reverting that nerf from his past dominance nerfing phases. Poppy I don't think they want to touch until her rework or unless they absolutly have to.

Yasou? No idea. Any reason you could come up with someone with MR also fits. If anything, Yasou should get MR.

It's probably due to the overall fact that he has a passive shield that recharges from moving, massive in lane mobility with E, and a projectile destroying wall which hurts mages the most (due to blocking most if not all of their entire combos). He already has massive mobility and a windwall, which when combined with his passive shield makes him very strong (if not overbearing) against mages.

As far as I know no other melee champion has a projectile destroying wall and massive mobility; heck, the only other person WITH a projectile blocking wall is Braum, and his only blocks one.
