Any malzahar main here who could explain his current state? I find his ult dealing good amount of damage, and his W is fine when combined with high CD

His early lane phase before Lost Chapter is extremely weak, after that it gets better.

He feels like old malzahar again, but way easier.

His flat damage isn't dependent on his combo, and his passive provides extra protection. So he is much better at trading than he was even pre-MYMU. It's annoying to farm, because you are still pretty reliant on your voidlings, but because you can summon multiple of them for farming now, just E + W, tends to be enough to farm the whole wave, even just at level 4.

He likes CDR more, because it allows for faster voidlings (who now have a significantly lower duration), but i wouldn't aim for 40%, just item 3165 + 10% item.

Oh yeah, and AD is dead... There wasn't really a reason behind it, they just changed it so that his voildings deal pure magic damage ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

His voidlings are still too squishy to really be used reliably as a mid laner though... he's much better in top lane, similar to rumble or vlad.

Though, because his voidlings still scale with AD, there might be some validity in item 3146 , but probably as a more sustain item in the mid-late game, rather than a rush item. Haven't had time to try it.
