Why would I pick Lucian over any other ADC?

Currently, Lucian is an ADC that has no real identity among the ADCs. In mobility, vayne and kalista are better, in burst, Graves and corki are better, in poke and range, you have Caitlyn and Varus. He has no cc and lacks the raw damage to compensate for it. His poke though is good in lane, falls of in damage and reliability once out of lane as his q requires minions to use safely and his ult is hard to land.

Why would I pick Lucian?

I am only a gold 2 support main for reference.

He is picked for not being the best of any of those positions, but because he brings a bit of all of that too his kit. He is not as mobile as Kalista but has more burst and poke. He is not as bursty as Graves but has more mobility and poke than he does. Same goes for the poke champs, he is just more mobile and bursty compard to them.

I believe he is ment to be a balance between Burst/DPS/Mobile/Poke champ.

It also gives you slow resistance, right? So I'd say that it's also good for escapes.

I thought when he was ulting he was immune to any CC that wouldn't inhibit his ability to AA?

Lucian gets no immunity. He use to get a cleanse on his dash, but that was removed. furthermore, any displacment like vayne condemn will cancel it.

Riot nerf his ult so hard the I doubt it is still used for wave clear.

What I'm trying to say is, maybe the ult does not do enough damage to champs, and is more valuable as a farm tool as his auto attacks do more damage. I mean, when a champ uses a 50-90 second cooldown ult to farm.. something is wrong.

He has a unique combination of mobility and poke. He is a relic from the days when Riot believed that mobility and damage should be tied together. Lucian definitely has one of the most cohesive, well designed kits in the game, even if his numbers are a bit low right now. He is very fun to play and experience, and that really is why you should bring him. He's fun.

Farm well and your damage won't fall off too hard.

Why would I pick Lucian?

This is bringing back memories from when Lucian was released.

As for not being as mobile as X, bursty as Y, or ranged as Z; Being a jack-of-all-trades, master of none can be a significant advantage on it's own. Rather than trying to set up your plays so they favor 1 specific strength, you just set up plays so they don't favor 1 specific strength of your opponents. In other words - being solid in 9/10 situations while weak in 1 is a lot better than being really OP in 1/10 situations and weak in 9. LeeSin <---

Main reason to run with Lucian is his early, mid, and late game phases are all reasonably strong. He has decent dueling potential and team-fight potential, self-peel and poke, burst and sustained damage. He doesn't have a 5 star rating in any particular area, but he also doesn't have any noteworthy 1 star weaknesses that can be easily exploited.

Because Lucian just got buffed and is badass? His kit is really fun, with 40% cdr you can E every other spell if you are hitting champions with your passive. His mobility is better than vaynes, as for kalista, he is more of a caster. So he doesn't have to sit and auto he can cast a spell, double tap, E dash, double tap etc. If you get enough cdr you can kite super hard.

He's a far superior Miss Fortune that actually scales well?

Only reason why he isn't contested is because Vayne and Jinx are top tier while a good Caitlyn can keep him in check early game.

Miss Fortune and Lucian are completely different champions. Neither one is superior over the other, they both have different strengths and weaknesses.

Both have harasses that punish you if you're hiding in the minion wave, similar long range ultimates, except one actually scales (Lucian) while MF falls flat on her ass)

Miss fortune's ult applies her w passive, which scales off ad. Lucian shoots in a line, miss fortune shoots in a cone. Can hit one champion at a time with Lucian, can hit their whole team with miss fortune. A good mf ult will devastate a team, people that says it doesn't are positioning wrong or trying to use it like her old ult that did high damage the whole time vs ramping up like it does now.

Lucian doesn't roam as well as miss fortune (is mobile but a dash doesn't compete with 70ms), and she can take turrets much faster more reliably (lucian needs to waste abillities mf just uses w.)

Lucian has more fight mobility, miss fortune has better hybrid damage, mf never falls off, and both work well with different comps.

He's not superior to MF, he's different. In that lies his strength, he's so different than the rest of ADC-ish ranged champs that often his mobility is a new, surprising issue for the other team. I run him mid and top sometimes, usually with good results, because they weren't exactly expecting a mobile ranged to be harassing them until they have a stroke. He's great for drawing the enemy jungle to camp mid, allowing your lanes to push and snowball, but you better be on the ball and warded up tight. Good luck, sometimes he's worth the hassle of playing. Gnar

Before he was nerfed, lucian had it all pretty much. Nowadays, I supposed he's a good generalist pick with mobility to either get in or to get out as needed as well as having poke.

He's one of the few champions with a specific exception built into Muramana. His Ult can't proc it, otherwise it might actually deal some damage.

I've always felt Lucian and Ezreal were fairly similar, but nowadays he fills a niche somewhere between being someone who can get in your face and poke you a bit before backing off (like Ezreal) and someone who can just infinitely reposition and deal good damage (like Vayne) but gets outclassed in both of those niches by Ezreal and Vayne respectively.
