How to carry a feeding/shit team?

datfatguy··6 votes·12,520 views

Any tips on how to carry a rubbish team? I just failed my promos because I couldn't carry my teams even though I did quite well in both games. I went 14/5 on Ekko but the rest of the team just didn't seem to be good enough for me to carry them. Then I went 5/0 in lane as Draven but I had a trolling Nunu support just because I didn't give away my best role in promos? I ended up only going 9/4/6 and the enemy Ashe (I stomped her in lane) ended up getting a quadra kill just as the game was going to end (I was not involved in the quadra). I'm getting pretty sick of losing my games just because my team wasn't good enough to be carried. Sometimes it can be my fault that we lost, but here I'm just asking for ways to carry a team where everyone apart from you has gone 1/15. I just hate the feeling of becoming really fed and then just losing the game because the rest of the team fed their asses off or are trolling.

I like to break down games into 5 types:

Type 5: 20% of the time the enemy team is way better than your team (this includes games with feeders/trolls on your team.) These games are pretty much automatic losses.

Type 4: 20% of the time the enemy team is, on average, better than your team. In these games the only way you win is if you absolutely hard carry the game (i.e. high cs, high KDA, high kill participation, high number of objectives destroyed.)

Type 3: 20% of the time the teams are evenly matched. Whether or not you win these games is dependent upon whether you play better or worse than the average person at your elo.

Type 2: 20% of the time your team is, on average, better than the enemy team. In these games you just have to play smart and you'll win (i.e. not suicide, flame your team, throw at baron, etc.)

Type 1: 20% of the time your team is way better than the enemy team (this includes games with feeders/troll on the enemy team.) These games are pretty much automatic wins as long as you don't troll/afk.

If you win all of your Type 1 and Type 2 games that puts you automatically at a 40% win rate. Next, if you win the majority of your Type 3 games that will put you above a 50% win rate and you will climb. The reason why so many people have difficulty climbing is they go on tilt after losing a Type 4 or Type 5 game and they carry that anger into subsequent games, play worse than normal, and lose a Type 1, Type 2, or Type 3 game that they could have won had they not been on tilt.

Lol at your math break down. I have played 5 games today and have had MIN 2-3 feeders per game. The other teams weren't even good, they just weren't mentally challenged.

Do you even understand statistics? In small sample sizes statistics aren't valid. I can flip a coin 5 times in a row and 5 times it can wind up heads. Does that mean it will always turn up heads or that in the long term you are more likely to get heads than tails? Absolutely not. I've tracked my stats for thousands of games and those have been the percentages I've seen. I put a lot more weight into my thousands of games played than your 5.

I don't think the statistics was the point of the reply, but the intention was to illustrate how your own mentality and attitude affects your playing ability and your ability to control emotions when things are going bad.

I think the point is that every time you get frustrated/tilted or what ever it affects your play. It's the same with sports-psychology where you have to learn to accept responsibility and not blame others, since "others" are an uncontrollable force and the only thing you can control is how you choose to react to a negative/positive situation.

So when you write " I just hate the feeling of becoming really fed and then just losing the game because the rest of the team fed their asses off or are trolling." I think that illuminates your main issue here, since you place the weight on the scale towards everyone else, which becomes a deeper issue, since it will also determine how you perceive new players in matches. If they die once, twice or even a third time you are already affected emotionally and have categorized them as someone who is hopeless to play with, decreasing your ability to not only carry in KDA but also carry their confidence to start believing in themselves and the match again, which is needed to win.

So this might sound cheesy but if it works it ain't stupid right, but try to change your attitude to persistently shrug off your own negativity and encourage a positive mindset :)

The problem is finding out which game is which like type 4 and 5 are pretty obvious type 3 somewhat but my last 2 games we started off strong good ganks than we just threw the game my Warwick kept rushing in and my dumbass kept trying to save him with shen. And my last game I was Tristana we lost lanes but I knew we had a better team comp than they did. My nautilus kept pushing too hard and my lux went full ap and their yasuo was fed. What categories would u put those 2 games in?

I feel you I mean everyone got shit games but what to do is pick HIGH scaling champions like Kennen make the smartest decisions and avoid drying to getting behind.

Farming is important for scaling champions cause when late comes, flash ulti with Kennen you aced the team and won the game.

datfatguy1 votes

You wanna know the problem with that? You never know if your team is going to feed or not. Kennen might not always be a good option because the enemy team comp might not be in favour of him.

Daxanater1 votes

...

saying kennen isn't good option just tells me you're probably just bad at working around scenarios in the game.

Martensitic2 votes

If you absolutely insist:

Play safe, stay alive, stay farmed enough to be a relevant factor in a fight. Who knows, they might just pull their sht back together and win a big teamfight at 45 minutes, with 1min deathtimers allowing you to end game.

The chances of that happening are next to zero, but hey, you asked what you can do: This is it.

datfatguy6 votes

So basically if the team feeds, I'm screwed?

Martensitic2 votes

Alot of the time, yes.

Why, did you think otherwise? When you win fight ater fight, does that increase or lower your chance of winning? Why should it be any different for the other team

FioraWillCarry2 votes

40% of your games would have uncarriable trash on your team. You have to focus on winning the 60%. That's just the reality.

HawkSh0t2 votes

There is no way to. Enjoy getting hard fucked by riot MMR, because Unless you are SIGNIFICANTLY better than your current ELO, you are hopelessly fucked, Anyone claiming you can just study up and practice is either bullshitting you, or think its normal for you to spend the next 6 months waiting to climb past your idiot teammates.

Step 1: Pick a champion that can actually carry. You can get all the kills you want, but if you have zero control over the direction of the game (assuming your team is going to be of minimal help to you), then those kills mean nothing in the end.

Like, it's cool that you got fed with Ekko and all, but if your teammates aren't capitalizing on the kills your getting and the plays your able to make, then what's the point? Pick a retard-proof tank or bruiser (cough cough MonkeyKing cough cough )with utility (if you picked and got fed with Amumu, your carry potential would have been much higher) or a binary split pusher.

I remember when I was climbing bronze, I always picked oppressive champions with reliable cc and moderate damage; try doing that.

I'm not saying that picking assassins like Ekko does not work. But, if you do want to go the assassin carry route, you need to finish the games as quickly as possible--every play/decision you make counts and kills really start to mean less as time progresses. The longer the game drags on, the less control you will have on the game... teamfights will become closer calls, death timer increases, the enemy will catch up etc.

datfatguy1 votes

The problem is if I was able to get to my full build in that Ekko game I coulda started to do some bullshit. But in my Draven game I could have carried but the top and support were trolling so we didn't really have a chance there.

Do as much damage as you can but never take the kills. Make sure your allies steal all of your kills so they can get into a better place.

Learn to carry yourself then?

I'm bronze 3... What chance do I have? I didn't use a very good boosting service.

Astôlfo1 votes

What makes you think you're any better than them?

datfatguy8 votes

Because I'm not going 1/15 and getting 30 CS in 20 minutes?

Astôlfo1 votes

And I'm sure you've had bad games, just as they've had better games.

ROFL Did you ever consider that no matter how good you are people will always drag you down the chance of me actually being able to carry on TF/GP/ORI is really unrealistic when my jungle still doesn't understand pathing at plat 2 elo.
