Does anyone build pure AP anymore?

Since and some pure ap items have been nerfed, I don't see glass canon builds anymore. All I see is half tank mages running around with over 3000 hp.

Is there something not seriously wrong with this? It makes mages less of a kill priority because its harder to kill them. Left unchecked they are dishing out tons of damage and CC while taking a fair share of damage.

There is nothing more a annoying than a running around with while having an insane damage immunity passive. Not to mention his insane target lockdown. Even if he doesn't have voidlings to kill you, he has enough health to out sustain you.

I personally enjoyed glass canon builds. High risk high reward.

Nowadays it low risk all reward for mages.

amazing! All of those are mage items! Seriously though. riot specifically made it so that mages have been beefier.

I don't mind mages getting some defense items, just don't give then so much access to health. Health are for tanks. Give them more items like Zhonyas that provide a unique type of defense active/passive.

People didn't like dying quickly. They thought tanks were better for League. Horribly wrong.

That's kind the point though. Riot wants mage to prioritize utility over raw damage. Ideally, burst mages or AP assassins will rely more on the high scaling damage from their kit to achieve their burst. Unfortunately people often built full AP on these champions anyways and tend to become too strong. .. which is a little ironic because that is the idea, .. but there is still such a thing.

it is the same deal with AD carries. they usually opt for a steraks gage/frozen mallet at some point on top of a maw

Yea I've been seeing steraks gage on the likes of MF. I feel like something is wrong when squishy are getting beefy.

There are a couple champs, but you are correct op, most mages are getting an extra 500+ hp most of the time. Only one REALLY coming to mind that doesn't is Veigar and sometimes Morganas don't go RoA.
