Look at his kit.

Q enhances auto attacks. W prevents a single spell and increases AS. E takes time until the CC happens.

The only burst damage he has in his kit is his ult, but come on, do you really think a semi-global point and click ability that can instantly kill someone on the enemy team is a good idea? Buffing the damage on that is the only way to make him an assassin without reworking him. That's the only real way to do burst damage with Nocturne mechanically, and even so you're still diving into their team, which requires you to build tanky to be able to live afterwards. Nocturne has never been an assassin, he's been a high damage fighter with an amazing gank. Build a Randuin's, it's quite literally not going to kill you.

his Q enhances his ulti due to the bonus AD he has his passive to burst his ulti

You make it sound as if Riot doesn't repeatedly release champions strong, only to nerf them later unless they bring in a lot of DOLLAHS.

IDK but nocturne has been released as an assassin, that's what phreak said. Now he is built as a bruiser because his squichiness isn't compensated by his assassin competence

full ad nocturne is still strong, it's just that within this meta, the jungler is often cemented as the initiator and/or tank but nocturne doesn't fit this roles well. Sure he can initiate with his ulti, but he wont be able to withstand the cc or damage from other sources. I don't think we will ever see a rise in nocturne players until the jungling meta changes or he gets buffs that allow him to play well in other lanes.

Doesn't really matter what the champion spot light says. Noc was never played as an assassin, the only people that did didn't really understand the champ. His primary role is ganking jungler and back row diver. Any champ that dives to the back row needs to build bruiser unless they can instantly blow up a squishy, which noc could never do.

Why did Nocturne get nerfed anyway? Back when he was in the meta I never found him to be insanely overwhelming. Personally I don't like nocturne or his kit but I didn't see a reason to nerf him

his fear range and his early game were insane

ive been playing a lot of nocturne lately and i still think the AD assassin route is pretty strong, you just kinda pretend your Rengar (thats my experiene at least)

I've found in solo queue, being tanky is more beneficial than damaging. It's mostly due to team fights. That being said, I've still played a little Nocturne and haven't had too many issues going HAM.

Look at their level advantage. Seriously.
