Gage is 52.47% gold efficient without its passive. Sterak's Gage is at least 52.58% gold efficient (due to its base attack damage increasing effect) when bought on a level 1 Orianna Orianna and 86.81% gold efficient when bought on a level 18 Mordekaiser Mordekaiser.

this is before -100 hp.

The thing is that the passive is absurdly powerfull. If you utilze the full shield, it's 30%maxhealth, which even with steraks alone on most champs is an extra ~800hp(worth ~2100g) at 18, on tanky builts often 1000-1500(worth ~2666-4000g)hp, and on top of that doubled base ad aswell.

The passive is easily worth 2-3 times as much as the permanent stats if fully used.

But is it worth it when compared to the other Jaurim's Fist items? Titanic Hydra is 98.6% efficient, Frozen Mallet is 101.08% efficient, and the passives are situationally more valuable.

i would argue that there are few situations in which the other pasives are more usefull, and those are mostly if ahead. Hydra and Mallet give you little if you get bursted down withn cc or or just can't reach a target. The raw tankiness of steraks allows to survive through burst and even if you can't reach a target, you can atleast buy more time for the rest of your team. Also, there isn't much stopping you from getting two or even all 3 of those.

Sterak's provides the buyer with unique interactions is the big thing here. A) It provides squishies an anti-assassin safety net B) It provides bruisers and tanks an incentive to taking damage in order to maximize their own damage output.

Also who says you can't get Titanic AND Sterak's? I usually do with Poppy. Frozen Mallet is still pretty situational though. The slow is typically only useful on heavy AA'ers and is outclassed by item 3025 for almost anybody else, while only being truly useful when you need to slow somebody without dashes and isn't immune to slows (... Not a lot of champions)

We can't just look at Gold Efficiency when you're looking for what counters what. If Zhonya's ONLY had the active and no stats on it, people would still buy it to counter Zed . It just so happens Sterak's is providing that same niche for AD champions.
