Fun game but is this really the only viable strategy now? They literally just fought around Baron for 30 minutes. Nothing else matters. No split pushing, no wave control... just ONE objective (that steal was CLUTCH though). To have the whole game decided by who secures Baron seems kind of like one big dice roll. Oddly enough, it actually looks like it PREVENTS people from making progress because they're afraid to do anything else. CG tried trading for Elder and it definitely didn't work out.

I might be really wrong about this and maybe it's just these teams and their comps. The most interesting competitive games I watched were back when CLG was doing split push strategies. I like that so much more than the deathball style (although, tense long games where anyone can win are also interesting). I think part of the reason is because it makes the game so hectic and you don't know which strategy will win out. Even the gold lead doesn't matter that much sometimes in those split push comps.

On the downside, I HATED playing against split push strategies. They were so annoying and felt almost unfair because even when massively ahead, we couldn't just push to end. We always had to have 2 backing trying to catch some Tryndamere or Jax... who would get away most of the time. Even if we killed them, sometimes the other team took Baron or we were just so disorganized and far that any push attempt was stalled.

No as usual the only valid strategy is have the braindead adc sit in the back and auto for over 1000 damage with unmissable right clicks.

The "wave" control they did was with banner of command on minions in order to push.

Red team's Ornn secured 3 turrets and an inhib by doing this.

They also play on a previous patch so the minion changes that are going to hit soon™ won't be in the lcs for a while.

No, if dancing 30 min around the baron without fighting was the only viable strategy you will see it in more games and this 5th game was an exception.

That was like one game of a 5 game series with more on the line than anyone's promos can amount to. I mean think about the pressure they had to be in.

There aren't even a dozen recent games that stalled out like that!

I just watched 5 Soraka secure baron and take 3 turrets, inhibs, and nexus, with their nexus at half HP.

There was a Wind Drake until.. past 50-60 minutes? So they both had to contest baron, because they couldn't trade Baron for Drake. It's.. Pretty obvious that this game would last this long. Guess pro play is just camping baron. Minus every other game that happened.

Thats what happens when tanks and supports are overbuffed so much and split is dead.

It means the only way to play the game is 5 man deathball with baron, with multiple tanks + support + adc, nothing beats that now.

If tanks were nerfed out of god tier from competitive play a lot more comps would open up.

Well baron buff is so strong that its normal they want to win because it become basically impossible to siege against baron buff .

League pro play has always been dull. This game dials it up to 11 a bit, but it's always so passive and filled with players too afraid to make mistakes and thus too afraid to make plays.

Unfortunately thats the game right now even in solo queue. Even if just one person without tp shows bot, you lose baron and the game.

Because the game is so snowbally everyone is scared to make a play incase they fuck up but at the same time they can't afford to give baron away for free. So you just get the 'Baron dance' where 2 teams tanks have a little fight, heal up from Warmogs and repeat.

Baron always was a Game Winning Buff, so many games are either thrown or won on barons, same goes for Elder Dragon.

These buffs are high risk high rewards, I don't see what is different and what is wrong with it.

maybe if the team that isnt going for baron had two options like we fight them there, even if we dont take the buff they will be low and we take some kills (which isnt true at all since it seems that baron dont do enough damage at all)

or we take two turrets for our troubles, if we manage to defend our own and dont loss too much when we call it even

This is what happens when both teams have banner of command, and the only way to make progress in a side lane was to... not be there? Every single time somebody went to a side lane it was one wave then immediate TP baron oh god they are starting baron. Aaaaaaand then the snooze fest again. I don't understand it - in meta gone by, ADC's were still this strong late as far as how team comps were built. The problem is how easy it is to reach high levels of crit, high levels of attack speed, and have multiple summoners and items still defending you from your Knight's Vows, your redemptions, your ardents... when power was equalized to the support, it shouldn't have coincided with a massive increase in power for the ADC role as well. It's like Solo and Ssumday literally don't even exist, they're just here to press banner and die first.

One of the best series became one of the worst, in game 5 of all places.
