If I were to Rework Taric

Firstly, yes, the original (ugly) image of Taric will go. (Taric doesn't need a shield as long as none of abilities use the shield. It kind of ruins the animation.)

Kit

[P] Taric's passive is strong and I like this passive but this is a passive for a fighter not a support. Yet it at the same time doesn't do well. So here's what could be done: we could either change it or make it better. The better version would have stacks. This version allows the player to stack up to 4 times this ability. The same rules apply; he must use a spell, the time for the attack is long, and the effect is lost after using it. It can be used on even turrents. This way, if you can only get a bonus of 14, you can stack it to be 56. This effect will have its costs so be wary of it. Taric's new passive should do something. He should get his W passive moved to this. The bonus is at max level W passive and the range is grown to 970. This makes him more viable as a support and a more likable support too.

[Q] Taric's heal is great, but doesn't do it's justice. Why not make it an area effect? You know, like Alister's only with more time in-between. As I look at it, we can give him a 500 radius for the spell. It can heal all things in the small area (and himself) for 5%/8%/11%/14%/17% (+0.06% AP). The effect has a 10/9/8/7/6 second cool down. The cost will be 60/70/80/90/100 mana per use. (The animation is reused for this.)

[W] Taric's shatter is actually usable. And I like it. The passive for others can stay in here or move to his main passive but greater. His other passive is a nice plus. Up to 30 bonus armor. And the fact he can deal good true damage while lowering opponents armor is just (as Taric would say) nice. I can't think of a good change for this one.

[E] Taric's stun is useless as it is. So there are two ways to do this: we either change this one or make it better. The change would have Taric send out a ball of light in a straight line that damages the opponent for 60/105/150/195/240 (+30% ability power). The time of the stun remains at 1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5/1.6. The ball of light does not float around like a crazy fairy but travels like any other light, straight and a good 1% faster. The damage fluctuation is demeaning so a nice constant would be fine. Not many ideas for any other ability.

[R] Taric's ultimate is what really defines him. Gives out a small damage and gives bonus attack to nearby allies. That's nice but here's somethings can be done. We need to give Taric something he can use for this. Not saying Taric needs the ultimate kit but he can use this. Taric smacks the ground to deal an amount of 150/250/350 (+55% ability power) damage and gives his regular bonus. He also has one more passive when he gets his ultimate. Taric can decrease incoming damage by 2%/4%/6%. This passive becomes inactive until the ultimate is available again.

Taric's passive is actually really strong later in the game when you have CDR.

You basically guard your carries, therefore anyone you are fighting has to go through you (so they can't really kite you) and it severely reduces the cooldown on your heal and stun. If you weave an AA between each ability cast, you have essentially no downtime between spell casts.

I know what you're trying to say. And yes, I've seen it. The passive (if used right) can get above 100(+) bonus damage making this seem unfair. giving him the total stack of somewhere above 400(+) damage. But I must say, Riot made him strangely in the attempt as a fighter. So Taric getting a lot in return for his abilities would be better than it is now.

The cool down for the heal was made differently as I put above. I made it have less time than it use to for a heal. And the big passive for stacks is for the Fighter/Tank Taric, not the support so if he was to support, he would rather use the cool down effect to help his ADC. (The cool down effect slipped my mind when I made this. It also is barely effective if your ADC demands no help when farming.) The stun though is strong and in general will just be left with the same cool down. But the fluctuating damage had to go. I'm so tired of using it just for someone to flash away and get dealt 60-160 damage.

I don't know; even as a support I build Taric as a fighter. My normal build is: item 3117 item 3401 item 2045 item 3025 item 3190 item 3143 Which gives a nice mix of damage, utility, and tankiness.

Not sure if you down voted me because of my comment but; this is not a fighter build...

This is a tank/support build. Even the boots scream, "I will hurry to support you". Not one thing in here raises his AD.

Not saying it would be good on Taric (if we ever will know) but this is something I would see on Braum who is classified as a tank.

I'm not saying we should break away form the META but the META has torn Taric from what he use to be; a fighter. If I were to build Taric as a fighter, I would get.

item 3047 item 3025 item 3110 item 3157 item 3115 and item 3143

These items would seem tanky and that is how Taric will seem to be but with the passives he has, he will need some armor. But he also needs some AP for his abilities and something for his slow attack speed.

I didn't downvote you. Probably someone who just didn't bother commenting.

You don't need AD or attack speed for Taric to be a fighter. You just need the spellblade passive and CDR to make use of your passive. He doesn't really scale well enough with CDR or attack speed for me to justify building it.

Yeah, I know that my build is closer to a support/tank build, but it's Taric's passive which allows him to be a fighter due to how well he can use Spellblade and rotating through his abilities repeatedly.

Anyways,, that was my support build. If I'm actually taking him to a solo lane, I'd get: item 3111 item 3025 item 3068 item 3190 item 3143 item 3075

I'm just different I guess. He has AP there and I don't want to waist it.

His AS is so slow. I hate that when he uses his ultimate (as a fighter in top lane) he only does so many swings. A waist of a ultimate to me.

You are more on the lines of a support Taric. You don't think he can do much else?

Oh no, I've taken him solo top a lot. Especially when AD casters were common top picks.

His most common role is support and a lot of top laners scale with the experience and gold better than he does, but I have a lot of run playing him.

I find his AP ratio's are pretty low and I tend to use a spell between every autoattack, so I don't really bother with building attack speed or AP on him. I find that I'm better off building defensive items to survive and help my team.

For solo lane Taric, I view Iceborn Gauntlet as a core item for the mana, armor, spellblade, and slow. I get Sunfire Cape for the health and waveclear, though the additional damage is nice. Locket of the Iron Solari gives me health, CDR, and MR to round out my defenses while also providing a shield and MR aura for my team. Randuin's Omen gives me more health and another slow. Thornmail stops autoattackers from being able to heal off of me and lets me solo them easily.

I find that I mostly use his ultimate for burst and another passive proc during all-ins rather than for the bonus stats. Not that the stats aren't useful, but I just value it more for the damage when solo laning to burst an opponent for a kill. Or even as harass, since the cooldown is pretty low.

It's fine if you disagree though. I'm quite happy with my current builds and playstyles as Taric.
