I'm honestly confused, why does ryze have a garbage winrate?

I've played a bunch of ryze, and I can't think of why his winrate is so low. Pros:

  • Nice waveclear with spell flux

  • He's a lane bully, using spell flux and q to deal massive damage to enemies who go near minions, or able to combo those down who don't

  • insane trading potential, with his full damage combo being able to chunk for an insane amount of damage

  • able to counter any burst (e.g. can qweq to shield from syndra's ult while dealing a bunch of damage)

  • able to one shot squishies from mid game on

Yet, he still sits at a low winrate. Can someone explain to me why?

Because he's shit

I think it's because he's balanced around being able to use the right combo at the right time, which can be pretty tricky, and being able to use that combo fast. He has a lot of versatility so some direct power has been taken from him. Also, his ultimate is really hard to use.

Difficulty in actually winning with him.

People won't necessarily use the right combo for the job, and people will often either entirely neglect his ultimate, or use his ultimate to inadvertently get himself and/or his team killed as he goes in a little too deep with it.

While you do have a good win rate and KDA with Ryze, it's still difficult to tell how well you'll do competitively aka ranked since all your games show up as normal. He was the first champion I mained but also the first to be forgotten, due to his large skill cap.
