AD heavy fighter Renekton middle

I have tried some different Renekton builds in middle, including tank, tanky bruiser, and pure AD assassin, and I think that an AD heavy fighter (think Fiora or AD leaning Darius) Renekton in mid lane is quite strong. With a simple Maw rush, he can sustain and outduel any AP mid. He has 2 dashes, great base damages, good AD Scalings, 4 damage abilities, an ultimate that buffs his tankiness to give him survivability even without any/many defense items, etc. He is an overall good pick for mid lane, it seems. I, personally, think that I want to practice him and main him. With him being a manaless AD champion that has gotten buffed a few patches back, I think he is a perfect fit for the mid role; especially because of all of the other champions getting nerfed (along with DFG being removed, so he doesn't have to worry about cheese).

So yeah, try him out. I highly recommend him. If you get rolling, you get snowballing, due to his innate tankiness mixed with his massive damage. Just remember to level up your Q, then E, then W to max in that order; not Q, W, then E. The second E proc is much stronger, damage wise, than his W, and in mid you want that burst (plus the cooldown on his mobility spell).

I have been doing this if they pick yas or zed with mixed results. Things like teammates getting upset because I have somehow broken their precious meta is the biggest problem.

ehhh

the main reason to send someone mid-lane is the EXP. Base damage on abilities tends to stick pretty close 1/2 average HP per level gains (or average mana per level gains), which is 40 per level. 40 damage is pretty high compared to the 3 per level AA damage, and with a 12 level advantage: being 80 damage over your opponent's level when they're 160 HP down can be pretty significant.

The other main reason is access to the entire map. Nifty for epic assassinations or for adding a ton of weight behind team-fights.

In earlier seasons mid lane was also nice due to being arguably the safest lane where you could send someone weak early, strong late like Karthus.

Renekton's solid with burst - though he lacks the finesse of most assassins/mages in actually applying it.

His team fight potential and assassination potential, while ok, don't scale that well into the game. Generally speaking dueling potential and team-fight prowess are counter-balanced against one-another, and Renekton is an amazing duelist. You'll probably get a kill or 2 against your lane opponent, but then they can out-scale you and out-perform you in all the important, decisive battles: which means you essentially can't fail, where someone like Katarina can easily bounce back and then carry her team.

Also, Renekton's early game is extremely solid. While the pro meta generally favors strong lanners now, Renekton's early game is so dominant you're probably wasting the lane's safety by sending him there over anyone else on your team.

Renekton's sustain and 1v1 prowess makes him really strong in top-lane, which also gives him the map positioning to constantly force 1v1s through split-push tactics. I don't really see those strengths translating that strongly into a good mid-lane pick.

Also - I've seen my top-lane main friend try it out in multiple games. You're pretty much screwed and dead weight to your team if you loose lane. It plays out a lot like LeBlanc mid; you either go so hard in the paint you could start with Mejai's/Occult or you faceplant.
