Adc is supposed to beat tank

Heckin Support··9 votes·2,733 views

Do people forget this? This seems to be something that a lot of people on the forums are forgetting. The league of legends role triangle:

1.Tankiness beats Burst: Tanks tend to outscale Burst in effective health vs burst damage. Combine this with how most tanks are given tools to disrupt Assassins and Mages, and you have the first piece of the triangle.

2.Burst beats DPS: DPS needs time to scale up their damage. Burst on the other hand, doesn't. By front loading their damage, a Burst champion has virtually every advantage over DPS.

3.DPS beats Tankiness: Because DPS scales on time rather than flat numbers, it's far more difficult for a tank to simply outscale a DPS if the DPS in question can fight for long enough.

I feel like this whole thing has been lost somehow in the game...And people forget that this is actually how the role flowchart is supposed to go.

ADCs are supposed to beat tanks if they have their team to protect them

An ADC who can't kite a tank should not beat the tank.

Im so glad ADCs literally cant 1v1 anything in the game

Big Lincoln2 votes

That's "literally" how they've been for the better part of the game's existence

that's exactly how a glass cannon works

  1. Yes.

  2. That triangle is dumb. Teamfight success is about concentrating gold on (ranged) damage dealers then surrounding them with champions that can provide cc, utility, and sight to enable them to safely kill enemies. These supportive champions work better when durable. 1v1s are for splitpushers.

Where do Juggernauts or supports fit into that triangle

JavelinJoe1 votes

Supports usually are on the side of tankiness (like Leona and Alistar) or burst (like Brand and Karma. But some do fall under DPS (like Lulu and Zyra). However, supports are not usually the primary AP or AD damage dealers, so they can have a "4th" section of the triangle somewhere in the middle of all 3. Where they have some tankiness, some burst, and some DPS (a good example being Thresh).

Juggernauts were never suppose to fit into the triangle or even be part of the game for that matter if we look at the game from a rock/paper/scissors balancing POV. They are strong in 2 or more of the 3 (4) categories. Usually tankiness and burst, but some also have DPS (Darius is a good example).

Champions should only either be very adept in one part, or fall somewhere in the middle "4th" section where they have a bit of everything, but really cannot excel in any one of them like those within one of the 3 sections.

Thank you for your in depth reply. My comment however was simply to highlight the fact that league isn't rock paper scissors.

Lol, it use to be a ways back, but then they ran out of "excitingly unique" champions in their endless quest to update, change and rework the game every 2 weeks to keep it interesting. I like that they have invested the time into maintaining a consistently changing game with bi-weekly updates/patches, but they also love new champions, and 130+ champions is a lot to fit into only 3 categories lol.

This hasn't been lost to the game, some people are just acting like jackasses and think ADCs have no place in the game.

fuffychan2 votes

Tank mains think they should they should be able to tank 5 people for 30 seconds while simultaneously being able to dive and solo kill ADCs

Warlord Scrap1 votes

it was lost when theres 136 champs because doing cookie cutter champs gets boring

item 3153 > ? < item 3110 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

JavelinJoe1 votes

in a 1v1 I would say item 3153 > item 3110 because of the sustain and % health damage, but in a team fight I can see it going the other way.

Yes, he was never dead. People who play him maintain a 50%+ winrate

Except DPS can have the health to outlast burst thanks to item 3107 item 3190 item 3401 item 3504 item 3072.

That seems like an AMAZING Soraka build. Heals upon heals for days. Just add item 3083 or item 3065 and you are set lol.

Lol, it was a combination of ADC items and support items added together since they're pretty much one unit, but I could imagine that being hilarious if it worked. You'd actually have the auto attacks able to kill minions with a bloodthirster for Face of Mountain, lol.

JavelinJoe1 votes

Not to mention actually having offensive stats for fights, which would also return some of your missing health, so you can heal your team even more.

I feel kind of sad reading this because it honestly doesn't feel like this unless you flat out ignore damage through your kit.

An ADC's task is to scale into the best on the team for destroying enemy structures.

It isn't to rip through every single role, regain hundreds of health in doing so, then have a second life with GA should lifesteal not be enough.

LankPants1 votes

There's a little something called "nuance" which you seem to be completely ignoring.

In the same way it's unreasonable to expect an assassin who fails to get on top of an ADC to beat the ADC it's also unreasonable to expect the ADC who fails to kite out the tank to beat them.
