Support item suggestion: Shield of Zeonia
Stats: Some amount of armor and HP, obviously negotiable. Maybe 10% CDR as well.
Passive: Basic attacks grant stacks of Protection, at 10 stacks you can cast Zeonia's Protection.
Active: Zeonia's Protection -- For the next 5 seconds, target ally takes 30% less damage from the first 8 auto attacks that hit them and cancel on-hits as if the attack were blocked.
I just feel like this is the sort of thing we've needed for a long time, but especially so now that it's so easy for on-hit champions to deal a lot of true damage.
My reasoning for the numbers on the effect is that it'd be way too strong to just block all attacks for a certain period or set number of attacks, so setting it to a hit-capped reduction with a pseudo-block makes more sense. And why it's 8 attacks for 5 seconds is so that you can't just rush it early game to reduce 8 attacks occurring over 10+ seconds, but can still block the full 8 attacks later in the game when people have around 2 AS. Of course, it wouldn't be intended as a core item, just a mid/late game option if the enemy team is heavy in auto-attackers.
I figure the more interactive Support items we have, the more Support play we'll see. And the less we'll have to worry about people messing up a team comp because they didn't like getting autofilled.
Since all the tank supports have interactions with autos in their kits already (Thresh E, Leona Q, Braum passive, Taric passive, Alistar E, Blitz E and W), it wouldn't be too difficult to stack up.
