Questions about champ reworks

I noticed when the ADCs were reworked, their power curves were all changed because there wasn't really a 'rework' as much as they just piled a few new mechanics on each champ to deal additional damage with no actual negative to compensate.

The problem with not giving any compensatory changes to make up for these added mechanics is that the champions that are strong, are now EXTREMELY strong so much so that adcs on the bottom end are not THAT much worse by comparison.

This gives rise to an unhealthy situation where only a few champions are strong. Right now, Lucian, Sivir, Kalista are strong. That's fine, the problem with loading more stuff onto already balanced kits is that in order to bring them back, you have to basically gut them. MF was strong, she got gutted after a few nerfs. Quinn was strong, then she got gutted.

With so much front end damage, burst ADCs are champ, this makes late game hypercarries like Jinx and Twitch so unviable as their early game is now that bad. It's harder to get to that dream late state. Kog only viable because guinsoos is a thing.

TLDR: Weak ADCs are so weak theyre unviable, strong ADCs so strong only way to make them not strong is disemboweling them.

Lucian is strong because he's just so good at everything. Some adc's do some things better, but he as a whole just excels at everything.

I kinda feel like you are looking at the situation from too narrow of a perspective.

You have to consider that many, if not all of the champions that are being reworked in these updates are older champions who before their respective reworks were considered to be 'out-dated' and underplayed, compared to newer, stronger champions of the same role. This is often referred to as 'power-creep'. This means they could afford to make these champions stronger without taking much from their kit. I also want to say that you are not exactly correct in saying that there was no negative balancing changes, but it is fair to say that the net changes were to make them stronger.

Also, you need to keep in mind that there was a juggernaut overhaul before the marksman rework. Now we are on the mage rework, and I've heard rumors of an assassin rework before the end of the year. I bet they aren't done there either. And an interesting thing that nobody talks about is the fact that there was definitely a jungle rework before all of this, but it had less to do with direct champion reworks, and it kinda seems to be still in progress. By reworking most, if not all roles, then it will balance in the end.

Actually, there is no single "jungle rework", considering it gets reworked every season.

So, ... you're saying that it is being reworked. ... I'm not saying there was a super event like with the others, I'm just saying that it is also being re-balanced, along with the other roles.

The thing, how do you tone him back? The point of just dumping more stuff onto champ kits is you end up in a situation where Fiora is so strong, she had to be almost gutted to not see her every ranked que. Kalista has had a string of nerfs, the kit is just so fundamentally strong shes still a viable pick. What option do you have except to numerically gut her to oblivion?

When kits were simpler, they were easier to balance, but not so much that they were useless.

its because they felt the need to make kits more complex and have that flash and excitement. That we are exactly in this predicament. Firstly reducing mobility in the game would be helpful to champions that have delay in abilities, IE Karthus. Forcing them to not have reworks, a lot of this stems from riot giving unique traits from one subclass to another. Its been a while since we have seen strong anti assassin champions, like we used to in season 2 and 3.

"No negative compensation" So all the AD and AS lost with lost of stats and base damage/ratio changes with quality of usage nerfs wasn't in order to fit in the power apparently -_-

While I agree utility or caster type marksmen are strong atm I don't feel like hypercarries are unviable and still as strong it's just that you have to rely a bit more on your team and most players obviously don't do that then complain the champ is bad.

Hypercarries thrive when their team listens and plays around them so they can start shredding through an enemy team and you're just not going to have that type of trust when playing solo. So I feel that hypercarries are weak early/mid aside from rageblade trist, ashe and varus but aside from that the main issue is that hypercarries are one of the most team dependant champs in the game and sadly to say most of the playerbase don't treat league as a team-based game until 40mins in when they need to from 1-3minutes in. Hell if the playerbase really tried we should be a team from champion select although that's more of a stretch.
