Lets talk Velkoz

As someone who likes to play Velkoz support I noticed that Velkoz is pretty monstrously strong even with low AP build.

I often end up with highest damage dealt in game as support. Thats caused by true damage and high base stats.

The thing is that Velkoz is somewhere between Mid and Support. Because he is immobile and does not have really chance to win the lane against most Mid champs. And also his support games are not that easy to pull in early game, but then he is almost unfairly strong. Should really be support able to pop enemy ADC wiht one combo?

So I believe that we stand before decision either make him Mid champ or Support. I know that there was attempt a while back (a year now?) to nerf his base damage to make him less strong as Support, but that would limit him only on Mid and that would destroy his pick rate pretty awfully.

Therfore I think that he would appreciate some light kit changes (in sense of Ahri changes) to either make him more viable against more variety of champs or lesse his damage and add some more utility and make him into full-time support.

I have no specific changes in mind.

If I remember correctly, he was created the way he was because they didn't want to make the same kind of long range AP scaling mage that already exists in the game like Ziggs Xerath . He adds a new twist on it as he doesn't actually benefit much from rushing item 3089 and benefits more from Penetration because of his high base values. This does come with the trade off, though, that his damage can be less in the late endgame, but you will still output a decent amount of damage regardless.

Also, there are plenty of supports who can pop enemy ADC's if they actually build AP. Zyra Annie both have the ability to do this, so its not like it doesn't exist exclusively for Velkoz

I don't think there is any problem with him. Maybe we should appreciate he can actually do both?
