Downvoting a Rioter.

Hey,

Why is it even possible to downvote a Rioter? It is clear that Rioter will not most likely say something unimportant or irrelevent (though there are exceptions).

Every downoveted rioter I saw had something constructive to add. And yet... they were below threshold beause people just did not like what they said.

Down/upwotes are not "like" and "dislike" buttons. Hey are more of "important"/"unimportant" buttons.

And if people cannot reckognize that, why should be any rioters input, that will be mostly quite relevenat and infromative, downvoted to hell?

EDIT: as to what voting buttons means. What I sadi above is not actually true. It can mean anything : http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/site-feedback/teko6RP4-psa-you-should-vote-more

People can disagree with Rioters, and Rioters can be wrong, you know. Kissing their asses helps literally nobody involved, and while some might want some good ass-kissing, the ones that take their jobs seriously shouldn't.

What you think the upvote/downvotes should be is not what the upvote/downvote buttons are. Everyone gives them their own meaning. Personally, I view the upvote button to mean "agree/rito pls" and the downvote button to mean "disagree/troll". I also think it is troll to downvote someone's posts if you're in an argument with them.

Off-topic but why are downvoted Rioter's comments hidden now? It wasn't this way back in the old forums. Even -1k votes didn't hide the post.

That said, I miss the days when there were hundreds and thousands of votes. Nowadays it rarely reaches 3 digit, and there is almost 0 original content created by the forums now...

Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.

They aren't gods that are always right. Why should they be immune to community judgement of the allmighty reddit vote?

While I wholeheartedly agree that Riot comments on the open boards should have the up-down- vote capacity, I don't understand why they get allow it to get closed ( below threshold ?).

Also, I wonder what Riot feels the voting system means ?

I have looked a this discussion a few times now and would like to understand what Riot believes the votes mean...Really OP good subject ! Sorry if I took it in a slightly different direction.

So fearless is basically stashu 2.0. Are they just hiring these people off the street now? They deserve every downvote, and if it hurts their feelings, maybe they should take it as a lesson to stop sucking.

I downvote a Rioter post when the content therein reaches 50% bullshit saturation. At that limit there is little use to be had from the post beyond simply being a Red response where they type enough words to remark, "whelp, this was a nice discussion!"

I mostly end up downvoting Stashu, Scruffy (for awhile at least), and Fearless, as well as any of the Narrative devs who were posting during the Great Retcon (it's anything but that).

Oh, and Pendragon, but that's solely from his history as a person.
