Why is 'Giving up' reportable?

Hibeki··7 votes·1,650 views

If you've noticed, under the report section "Giving Up" is now under negative attitude.

In a game that power creep is SO prevalent games can be over in the 7 minute mark

In a game where an entire region, arguably the strongest region in the world when it comes to league of legends (korea) unanimously give up when they recognize that they lost already,

Why is THIS, of all things, reportable?

I can see in maybe season 2 where games were not so decided that early, but why is THAT of all things reportable?

There's no way this can be misconstrued. If he gives up in sits in base, well AFK is already reportable! If he gives up and starts inting, that's reportable too! If he starts to flame and play poorly, verbal abuse is already reportable as well!

So why?

That's a few minutes too many.

It usually starts with Picks non-top tier champion

"gg ff, troll pick"

It's not just first blood but there are times where people will pick underwhelming champions that have no chance in making a team comeback, troll pickers.

Also if the objectives have been overwhelmingly claimed by the enemy and if there is constant poor coordination with your team in team fights and if people fail to listen to CS more than get kills to win the late game then it is very meaningless to go on.

This is often around the 15 minute mark where we lose alot of towers and haven't got any enemy towers or any map or objective control (even if the support uses's all of her/his wards).

Alot of people don't do their part to ward, they don't upgrade to Oracle, Sweeper, Farsight trinkets.

When people do upgrade to Farsight trinket (blue ward) they place those wards in the most commonly player walking spots. I always use those trinkets to put them in bushes where players will likely be in late game team fights since alot of players don't expect it when they juke into a bush only for an adc auto attack to finish em off thanks to that trinket.

Because by starting a queue, you agreed to play AT LEAST 20 minuts, and then you agreed that if 2 people do not want to surrender you will keep playing and trying to win.

In low elo particularly I've seen a lot of games where there were 3 surrender votes at 20minuts, when the game was far from being lost. I ended up winning HALF these games.

You know theres a reason surrender is being lowered to 15, right?

Ye, Riot making yet another mistake in the direction of the game which they won't admit to later on because of pride.

Surrender is not "being lowered to 15" unconditionally. 15-20 surrenders must be unanimous. I will vote no.

Yup, because average game lengh lost about 5min, so they have to compensate for that, it doesnt invalidate my point.

Average game length on this patch is 35 minutes.

When was the average game length ever 40 minutes? I seem to recall season 5 having much faster games, typically 25 minutes...?

You are so annoying, not even taking 30 seconds to check your sources :

And there you have the statistics for patch 5.6 :

probably because of the attitude itself. when you decide to give up, you automatically lower both morale and efficienty of your entire team and negatively affect everyone in the game, well probs not the enemy, they benefit from it and by god they will abuse that. but the point is, even if you dont ff, even if you still Play and try, if you on the inside gave up, you automatically perform at your worst, and that will piss your teammates off. it is very very negative as an attitude not because of reason and appearance but because of the influence it creates, and therefore has been classified as such.

Giving up... ever been on that team who's way ahead then throws it? Maddening, isn't it. When you're losing give your opponents the opportunity to throw. Play super defensively... wait for them to make a mistake. Get the Ace, get the Baron, push and win.

Example where I was Leona and this happened. At least two surrender votes were called, and failed. Had anyone given up, we would have lost for sure.

people need to understand even if you are 0 - 30 it is still possible to come back. but the first condition to that is the team have to still try to win. the moment you give up in your mind is when you ended all possibility to come back for your self. yes it is hard and it often relaying on the enemy team to make mistakes, or better yet you learn to set up a situation where the enemy would make those mistake. but again that is not possible if you think you lost and just try to get farm and get ganked repeatedly. when people start losing they need to understand that the enemy will probably farm faster then you (they have more gold) and have more opportunity to farm so you need to adjust your tactics don't try to out farm (they have more place to from due to map control) them it doesn't work the most you lose the more you have to contest map control to fight for those farming opportunities. but why fight a uphill battle when you can just give up and start a new one right. that is why we needed that report for givng up because the weak willed will try to turn tail and start a new game once thing don't go their way. we need to punish those people. if we don't all we are gonna get is game ending at like the first 10 kill or the first 3 tower and that is not fun for everyone

no to mention the fact that your team don't just consist of you, imagine what the other 4 people is going through when you suddenly just give up and play in a way that will not win you the game, is it fair for them that you give up on you obligation? and why is it an obligation when you are just having fun? because this game is not just about you having fun it is about also about the 9 other people who all agree to play the game if you can't have fun playing the game while losing which statistic is about 50% of the time then please please don;t play the game because your action are affecting the other 9 people who are.

I am happy the surrender has been moved up to 15mins. And yes there are comebacks, but not usually; when they happen they take 40mins+. When the kills are more than 10 different at 20mins, then game is over 95% of the time. Playing for that 5% chance is not FUN and that is the point of playing games - to have FUN. If I'm not having fun, then I do not want to play.

Remember I sat in queue for usually 15-20mins with dodges, pick/bans, and loading screens already (not fun) and wasting another 40mins on a losing game (not fun) is something I am unwilling to do.

What should happen is anybody with worse than a -75% k/d at 20 mins (1/4 or worse) should not get a vote until they improve that k/d take a tower or go up 100 cs on anybody else.

lol. Your 1/4/23 support doesn't get a vote but the 3/7/0 raging Master Yi does.

Maybe anyone that ignores the "a" in kda shouldn't get a vote, because those are usually the people I see flaming the team.

1/4/23 at 20 mins. would mean your team is winning hard. You have no point. Think before you type.

It's one thing to ask for a Surr politely when you think you have lost.

It's a completly different thing to cry from minute 10 for FF and than start spaming FF whenever possible! That kills the morale, destroys any fun, effectively decreasing the winrate and should be a 100% reportable and punishable when happening to often!

I had so many games ruined by one person that just said "pls surrender" after 10 minutes. Some players seem to lose interest in a game when they lag a bit behind. I for my part want at least have a chance to try and to give my best. I don't have the possibility to play all night. And I want the few games that I play to be satisfying.
