One change that could make xin viable top and have more awesome gameplay, without breaking the champ

I've been playing xin a long time and i've always thought his ult was really cool. Not necessarily for the stats it gives or the damage it does, but rather the aoe knockback.

It is both a difficult and easy to use ability at the same time. If you're fighting a single target, it's a no-brainer ablility. It won't knockback, so it's impact is literally: Press R to do more damage and gain a small armor/mr buff.

In a teamfight scenario however, it's a completely different ability. You want to hit a lot of targets, but at the same time you may or may not want to knockback certain targets. It becomes an ability with a lot of depth and difficulty to use correctly during that scenario. Still, using your ult as xin is certainly a high point and i think it could be capitalized on.

Instead of capitalizing on it through changing the ability, his kit could be changed to make his ult have a higher chance of being impactful. That being to change his e from being a target ability to being a skill shot cast and remove the challenge proc from it. This would allow xin to make plays by audacious charging behind his foes, as well as giving him an escape ability in the top lane.

I know this change would bring a lot more power into xin's kit, but if you actually want to make him a healthier champion, you need to up his mobility/utility instead of doubling down on his single target lockdown and kill potential. As is he is very frustrating to play against in lower elo because he gimps a single target pretty well. Maybe as a compensational nerf get rid of his free crit every third hit?

And to those saying: 'xin would be op with this change, he would be able to e behind people and ult them into his team' Ok, 1: xin has no escape after he does that, and 2: lee sin, gragas, and azir can all do the same thing but even better than xin could even with this change.

I honestly think this is only thing that could make xin a better champion overall for people playing against him and for the xin player himself.

While I see where you are going with it it would be similar to making Irelia's blade surge not targeted. In turn making it too reliable of a get away ability.

In keeping it targeted it is in turn limited in a intended way.

However if it were to have you charge through the enemy target much like how they changed akali's ult so she ends up behind the enemy and also not have it apply the challenge proc in doing so that might add a within reason element to the ability that is somewhat what you are talking about.

Thing is, I want xin to have a reliable getaway ability. Hes the worst performing top laner according to champion.gg. Other top laners have plenty of ways to be slippery. Xin's only way to escape a gank is to burn his ultimate knocking people away or using flash and then praying.

He has unreliable escapes because his entire thematic and kit are based upon the idea of "1v1 god" simply put, xin is someone who would need an entire rework in order to escape this weakness. His weaknesses are there so his strengths aren't super overbearing, which they kind of are tbh.

If xin's strengths are overbearing how is it that he sits at 46% winrate at all elos... People say he isnt a hard champ, so by that logic he must be bad.

A mix if items not being ideal for him and a bit on the weak side.

Same with Jax after becoming too dependent on sated.

Personally ive never thought of jax as reliant on sated. I believe he was played top of most of the time earlier this season ans he still is. He was reliant on the old rageblade for sure though. He's down a core item.

Thing is, i'm not too worried about the viability of xin jungle. It's always been kind of ok, it's seen better days but xins not a garbage tier jungler for sure. Top lane though, xin hasn't worked up there since s3. And its not because he just gets out-dueled by the likes of renekton, riven, irelia, and jax. But more so because one gank and its over.

If an irelia gets ganked, she cant bladesurge to safety, but she gets 25% tenacity and a target 1-2 sec stun that she can pull off immediately. Xin doesn't have anything. you could try popping someome up but by the time u get 3 autos in youre dead anyway. So i do think it would be fair for him to use his e as an escape. Even with this change i doubt his w/r would break 50 in diamond.

Bladesurge to safety is only as good as the minions that are there.
