Not to reset their abilitys 5 times and do massive AOE DAMAGE, 
She's by no means broken as she's easily countered, but can we at least make her an ASSASSIN, not an AOE Nuke Mage with resets who's melee. (She's not strong and easy to be, don't misinterpret the post)

Katarinas main focus is assassin secondary mage. Mages have AOE she fits both her roles fine. Clearly everyone here disagres with you anyway. Even in her lore she is doing multi targeted things. This piece from her lore ALONE describers her playstyle. she didnt wait between things she got a kill then started again the kit matches the lore quiet fine.
"Drawing her blades, Katarina swore the officer would die, no matter the cost. She leapt into battle, unleashing a whirlwind of steel. One by one blades flashed and guards fell, each strike bringing her one step closer to the officer."
ReshiKillim3 votesKatarina was never really designed as a duelist or an assassin, but more of a murderous killing machine that will rampage through your team if you leave her unchecked. Her rise to prominence only really started after a lot of strong midlaners lost their super range or CC.

READ WHATS IN BOLD, she's means strong, but her kit is ridiculously terrible in terms of what an Assassin should be (Her kit also entices extreme snowballing which isn't good for the game)
ReshiKillim2 votesI did read what you said in bold, and I agree with all of your statements except for the part being designed as an assassin. At the time she was designed, there were no clear cut roles other than "DPS, Sustain/Tank, Support". This caused her kit to not be fitting as a mage, nor as an assassin though she's labled one due to her snowbally DPS.
Ahri is actually in the same kind of situation as Kat here as well.
The majority of people who say Kat is OP, mainly started after Leblanc, Kass, and Talon got their gamebreaking power removed.
Interestingly enough, like Kat, Ahri who is also considered unbalanced by many did a huge amount of damage more while being more sustainy than the current live version.
(Funny how they're both hated more after getting nerfed and losing a huge amount of burst damage without much of a compensation..)
But until the Trio of Midlane Op lost their game breakers which caused Galio to lose his small bit of popularity, Kat was a decent but not considered a OP/game changing pick. Because all three of them utterly brutalized these two into obscurity, once the silencing demons vanished people didn't know how to deal with Kat/Ahri because their big counters lost a tremendous amount of power.
And it spiraled downhill from there into the often seen "Kat is OP Rito nerf plz" or "Ahri is broken champ"

You don't make a dagger throwing, assassin looking female, who's lore literally says "Assassin" and not make the intent of the champion to be an ASSASSIN.

Now the real question is are you missing a chromosome, and if so, plox contact your local waste disposal center to have yourself pick up before it is too late.

What I'm saying is her kit doesn't match what she was intended to be and what she should be. Talon's kit doesn't work either it's a kit with little to no counter play involved when he assassinates someone. He just goes in insta-kills then has no way of getting out. Bad design.

I mean when Yi was first reworked he could reset his Q every few seconds while shredding down an entire team, so Riot said "those resets aren't fun to play against and too easy to abuse when playing as or with him," so they nerfed the fuck out of his resets.
Yet here's Kat, with more resets and arguably more damage and she's left alone..... yet cc her when she jumps in and blow her up, I know..... so what if it's a last pick Kat into a team that has no or very little cc? Well, you lose! What if her team is good at engaging on your team? You lose! What if she doesn't jump in first like a moron and waits for a good opening like all decent players should do? You lose! What if she's not the only person carrying on the other team and you have to use cc on them instead? You lose! Cause of the 0/8/3 Kat and not the other person carrying!
The problem is, you NEED strict counterplay and good coordination as well as the person playing her to be bad at it in order to just have the chance to win. It's broken as fuck, no champ should require THAT much commitment just to avoid an auto-lose....
Speaking of which... Yi is still broken in that same regard.....

Yi used to have a full reset on his Q and it was untargetable. he had 0 counter play. when he was AP one shotting with 3 Qs. Katarina is balanced or WEAK currently. You don't "auto lose" just by them having one and if you happened to pick 0 CC through your whole draft pick well your comps probable shit anyway since it has no lockdown what so ever for any threat. If kat was as freelo as you say id be diamond or masters, but no people know how to counter play her. She is super squishy even with rylias, hourglass, and abysall for some tanky yet damaging stats.

If Kat is last pick and your team has no cc, she can never connect to the game and most likely your team will still lose the 4 v 5 because your team has no cc.
Kat may have damage (if she gets fed or farms well, if not her base damages are complete garbage) but she has zero sustain and the lowest health of all melee champs. Kat is slightly under powered atm, partly due to meta and partly due to being over nerfed.
If by left alone you mean most nerfed champion in season 5, you are spot on.
List of nerfs:
Ultimate Cool down increased greatly
Ultimate base damage reduced
Ap scaling on Shunpo (e) drastically reduced
Base Health reduced massively
Health regeneration reduced massively (on a champion with zero sustain)
Passive: window for getting resets was nerfed massively
Base skin splash went from being awesome to trash (pet peev)
DFG removed. Not a direct nerf, but still a massive nerf to Kat basically forcing her into one playstyle. If you would like to see the compensation Kat received for the dfg removal, just look at all of the points above this one.
@ op - Katarina has not been a Assassin since the removal of DFG, with dfg Kat could assassinate single target carries. Now she has to be massively ahead to do that. Katarina is a clean up bot now, but she is still a lot of fun to play and my favorite champion.

HolyCrapItsMe1 votesIn my opinion the last update to her put her in her balanced place, even at full build she is really squishy, so without CC but a few hard hitting abilities you can easily prevent her from nuking your team, a team with little to no CC is always going to be bad, and will lose to a lot of other teams, and even if ashes ult is the only CC on your team its best to save it for kata, because to give up CC your team needs to have loads of damage, which means that if kata engages you blow her up, unless their team played better than you and you were cought with no HP and no CC. Ive never played kata, but I think shes totally fair as she is right now, if not a bit boring.
