What if you could enchant legendary items for 1000 gold to give them unique passives/boosts?

Ok sure but why··2 votes·482 views

I mean, I'm sure we can all think of something that could make items better. Would it be broken? Not if both sides are allowed to use them. That, and people would have to choose between starting their next item and enchanting their current item. It would allow more customisation, enhance specific play-styles, and most importantly, make the late-game more important.

I'm sure Riot can use their magnificent brains to think up something nice, but here could be some really simple suggestions. You can only pick one of the three, as well.

item 3165

  1. Grievous wounds applies to champs below 70% health.
  2. Deal 1% bonus magic damage to champs for every 2.5% below 40% health, up to a max of 16% damage.
  3. Dealing damage to champions below 40% health increase the range of your targeted abilities against that champion for a short duration.

item 3083

  1. Warmong's Heart heals faster.
  2. Passive completely ignores damage from minions and non-epic monsters.
  3. When Warmong's Heart is active, take 30% less damage for 3 seconds after taking damage.

item 3508

  1. Critical strikes lower your remaining cooldowns by 7%.
  2. Critical strikes deal 50% of the mana you spent during the time between your last crit as bonus physical damage.
  3. Critical strikes return more mana.

item 3068

  1. Damage increases against each champ with every tick of damage they receive in a row.
  2. Damage slows champs after the third tick.
  3. Radius of damage increases with bonus armour.

Come on, anyone can think of small ideas like this. Give it a try!

I suggested something similar for support items. Right now in lategame supports sit on items worth 5000 less than other roles but lategame excess gold just sits in inventory cant rven build pinks.

But nothing good or gamebreaking. Like 1000 gold for like 200health so you wouldnt rush it.

Or just lock it for level 9, like they do with wards and elixirs.

Possible. My idea though wasn't too break the items, but most support items are understat so just giving a little boost to be a normal item would be good.

It would benefit snowballing so much.

Although I always liked the idea of spending 3k to combine two items opening a item slot

Doesn't the simple fact that you earn gold on kills in the first place encourage snowballing? Giving you more options to buy things won't change that.

I mean yes and no. Currently you can only snowball to 18 n 6 items. If you were allowed to spend that extra money on item upgrades you would continue to grow stronger instead of hitting the point of full build, which means others won't ever have a chance to catch up. Gold difference means less n less as everyone hits 18 n six items.

Snowballing stops around the third item, anyways. If someone snowballs for that long, they either get shut down or end the game by then. It's not really something that lasts a whole game.

The point is that the snowballing has a end, with you're idea it would push the end much much later.

It doesn't end when the person with all the gold runs out of slots to put items in, though. It ends before that, when they either get shut down or end the game.

getting a shut down on a champion doesn't end his snowballing, it simply just bridges the gap a bit.

Of course game ending stops someone from snowballing but just because someone is snowballing doesn't always mean a win.

Once someone snowballing is full built they can no longer snowball while other players will continue to work towards end build. If the person snowballing can't use the extra gold he has on anything then he didn't use his lead effective enough. If you're top and snowballing while Mid and Bot are only slightly losing you can't necessarily use your snowball lead well enough. While some who snowball just like to mindlessly push and continue to get shut down.
