I have a hard time being excited for 2 new juggernauts when the last 4 sucked

And based on how Garen has turned out (i.e exactly as I said he would, still a useless design but they three enough numbers onto his early game that he can work.) I'm pessimistic that Riot hasn't learned from their errors.

The last 4 juggernauts, Urgot, Aatrox, Mordekaiser, and Yorick have all been egregiously flawed. 2 of them are awful and only good for stomping out soloQ pubs, the other 2 are or were hideously busted in coordinated hands and were basically better than other juggernauts at everything. They (Urgot and Aatrox) didn't have a noticable niche that made them interesting or valuable to the roster. They were just good and had a kit that hit all the checkmarks for success.

Can I get some guarantee that Volibear and the new Ionian will be different? Will we start getting designs that fill an actual purpose and can justify being picked beyond just being good at the moment?

isn't that the core idea behind all new designs from riot though? Irelia rework, akali rework, sylas, kaisa, qiyana...all are walking toolboxes that basically offer everything you could want from them. Even much further back, we have shit like Azir and GP-rework that kinda started that pattern...

And imo that design philosophie is a major reason why this game turned to shit...
