Why does Zoe Q get the best of both worlds?

Zoe Q will get extended range if you cast it THEN move to increase the maximum range.

But if Zoe casts the Q, it will go to the location she hit rather than lowering the max range since shes moving away.

So Zoe herself clearly isn't the defining factor when it comes to Q range, but why does she get best of both worlds?

Either Q moves to where you cast an no further, so she can use it and back away before it reaches the destination and still get the full range

OR

Her body location determines the maximum range so she can cast then R for less reaction time and increased range.

You don't get both. Just a typical CT 'bonus' included

Orianna doesnt select a location then moves and it will go further because her range has extended. No, it goes to the location. Period.

Just like Zoe Q should.

It's really difficult to understand this, I don't quite follow [sg-lux-2]

I think he is saying. her Q range extends if you move with it out on the first Q hit. making the 2nd Q range longer however, if you cast your first Q say behind you, and run out of range, the Q doesn't reset, but ori's ball does reset if you get too far.

Ooh I see now. Thank you for the explanation

it still doesn't make much sense, cause Zoe's whole kit is based around maxing the Q range for damage.

No, Im saying that if you cast Q at the maximum range, then hit R, the maximum range of the ability will increase despite already being given the command to move and being in flight.

This would lead to an assumption that zoe herself controls the maximum range of the ability and the initial casting range does not matter, however:

Casting Q then walking away from the cast will still bring the Q back towards the original cast location, despite you moving away from it and theoretically 'lowering the cast range'

She herself only sets the border for the cast range when its beneficial to her. Which is dumb.

well of course zoe herself controls the max range, you can easily test and prove this without the use of R. if you cast Q behind you and shoot it forward while walking, you can notice a slight increase to the Q even while it's in the air flying.

Yes the problem lies in consistency. This doesnt Shorten the range from her walking or running away.
