Is Frozen Mallet still considered to be useless and overpriced?
Or have things changed? I'm a bit out of the loop.

It's situational. I like it. Don't know if I'd call it useless, but overpriced might be right.
it's ok as a last item but it's build path is pretty bad, (it's really bm on
) but
is better in almost every way.
I'm a silver newb and I love it xD
its useful in some cases imo as for overpriced is hilariously overpriced
Its a very situational item that only a few champions can truly get a good benefit from.
Its mostly its awful build path. So its not an item to really go for early or mid game. But as a last item, champions like
love it.
Trundle like
more. The 3 second slow coupled with his W-E and the huge dps it gives is more than enough to kill bruisers and carries alike within that time span. You'd get FM if you couldn't kill the target within that ridiculously long interval, but if you simply couldn't catch them,
/
is popular on him for the chasing.
FM would serve the purpose of keeping a retreating tank in range of your team.
Usless? no Overpriced? a bit. And with a horrible builtpath If you snowball or want a 6th item, or if your in dire need for some stickiness it's quite good on some champs
I generally build it on Lee Sin (top lane) after I get my Hydra, and Black Cleaver since it allows me to have a little bit more damage and tankyness. Honestly...the only person I love Mallet on is when I play AD Lulu on top lane. I just love going Botrk, Black Cleaver and then Mallet, it's so good on her lol.
But yea, I do feel it's a bit overpriced. Honestly...I'd say 3k for Mallet would make it way more popular imo.
Depends. I build it on AD tanks, or sometimes just on AD champs when I need tankiness and/or stickyness.
The only champ I remember seeing (multiple) pros build it on is Gnar, since he tends to be built tank but with some offense, and he has really high chase potential. In most cases, I think the recommendation is to stay away.
Overpriced. Rework the item to actually be worth buying. It gives you tons of health and some ad. You might as well bring
and make that the new FM, but you change health to 400-450 and damage to 40-45... but wait, we have BC.. so idk tbh.
it's just that it builds out of a ruby, giants, and pickaxe not a lot of good items to be sitting on for such an expensive item. If it built out of a phage and gaints it would be more ideal to buy...it's passive is really good for people who can make use of it just that if you're sitting on a pickaxe and giants well you could probably buy items that are still really good and are cheaper.
Build it whenever you lane/fight vs a hecarim... Literally makes him cry 90% of the time.
People build it on gnar (because it was done in the lcs, lets him catch out people with mini form) but not really any other champ. It's slightly better now that giants belt builds out of ruby crystal but still not a strong item.
I build it on Gnar. Rush it, actually.
I laugh because people won't engage when I'm Mega-Gnar but they don't seem to realize Mini-Gnar is the real threat here...
Generally a bad item.
Omen on tanks is generally considered better. Sure it's not quite as permanent. But it's AoE and doesn't actually require you to land an attack. Tanks also tend to have good CC, the extra slow tends to go to waste.
BotRK is common on AD bruisers. Omen is as well. Generally if this much CC doesn't get you the kill Frozen Mallet sure isn't.
Gnar is a special case because he's an AD ranged bruiser-ish. The ranged slow helps him since it goes past Omen. He often builds BotRK as well but that's better used for a burst combo.
No other champion really fits this roll.
Overall it's the type of item you would get when you are ahead. Something that makes it harder for the enemy to handle you. Problem is that it really doesn't provide enough of anything to make it worth it. If you want damage BotRK/Hydra tend to be better. Omen is usually better if you're trying to be tanky and want some CC. Otherwise you build to your team's needs.
FM is in short a selfish highly niche item.
It's like Blue Ezreal. It can work. But you have to know when to build it or you're just going to mess something up. Difference being that Blue Ez is more likely to be useful.
I build it on Teemo and Gnar. Pretty awesome.
I like to put it on shyvana, with omens, bork, and furor boots, triple move quints, vrooooooom she is sticking to you. Oh, max cdr build so her burnout is pretty much nonstop in combat as well. super sticky.
