Old Veig was even more broken Doesn't justify current Veig just because he isn't as bad

He really wasn't. He was new Veigar, but minus the range and skillshots. He had to get up in the enemy's face to do his damage, unlike now where he has a safe distance to burst from. That's actually the reason old Veigar wasn't chosen often. His low range caused way too high of a risk, he was like old Leblanc, but without the dashes/blinks to keep him safe; a single target burst mage with too many glaring flaws.

If you look at it like this, that Lucian is out by himself and got caught by a burst mage. Literally, it doesn't matter who was the mage bursting him, he woulda been fucked with that positioning anyways.

And this is coming from a Veigar main since Season 2.

i like how people were saying that removing DFG would completely gut Veigar (which, btw, he didn't ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE DFG TO FUNCTION, he was still strong without it, just not AS strong... i guess having to do more than just DFG > R counts as being "completely gutted and unplayable"), then Riot added counterplay to his kit and people said Veigar would be completely useless. then Riot added some small QoL changes and now he's "completely OP and deserves to be removed" again...

isn't this community awesome?

Edit: just to be clear, i am not trying to argue against the thread, old Veigar with DFG was a lot worse, and i still agree that he is strong right now. i just felt like i should voice how funny it is when every post that said that old Veigar was still good without DFG and didn't require compensation buffs got voted to -50 or lower. now posts that say he's too strong get voted +50 or higher

Dude. He had 4 abilities instead of 5 for months. The rational people among us ONLY asked for his W to go down quicker, and Riot FIRST overbuffed everything else, THEN did what they were supposed to do since day one: reducing the W delay. Same problem with Sion: he currently has no damage on W because it aways gets destroyed before bei able to reactivate it.

last i checked all champions have 4 abilities, unless you're counting his passive as an "ability?" and i was just talking about how before his stun was given a delay, and DFG was removed literally every Veigar main on the boards were complaining about Veigar being worthless without DFG and downvoting every post that said otherwise to hell. i played Veigar before DFG was removed, and i personally never built DFG on him in the first place and i always got 10 kills or more on him. then i played him before his stun delay and after DFG was removed and nothing changed, but everybody who mained Veigar who were vocal on the boards at the time were complaining about how he was worthless without DFG and were asking for compensation buffs (compensation buffs he did not deserve mind you. because having to do more than just DFG > ult is apparently what makes a champion "worthless"). i will admit that at first the stun delay might have been a bit overboard, but then they reduced it and gave other QoL changes, and now people are complaining about how he's really OP all of a sudden, when no one complained about him before his stun delay was put in.

Edit: i forgot that i made that jab at "Riot adding counterplay" in my original post, and i realize now that's literally the only part that you payed attention to

Regarding the number, I just misplaced my hand on the keyboard. I meant 3 instead of 4. And no, that's the only part I didn't pay attention to. I was referring to you talking about how we changed our minds about Veigar. But it was clear since the beginning that he just needed to have a shorter delay on W to have a full kit. He didn't need longer Q range, faster projectile speed, E stopping dashes, more AP from kills and assists...

You can stop this whole. "No DFG or Instastun" circlejerk, 30 damage nerfed from his combo that is a joke considering he is the safest infinite late game scaling monsters with a huge AOE stun zone tool and a delete button if you simply want to do your job an build AP to deal damage. Or if he simply has enough raw ap just ignite and ult their adc and GG.

What about the circlejerk calling him OP? That same circlejerk called him trash and useless when he was reworked. He wasn't buffed enough to go from useless garbage trash to OP.

he actually was bad when he was initially reworked, buffs came right after which put him in a decent spot

he was also three levels higher in that game, and quite fed. there's a lot of champs that can 0-100 you with their combo. more so when fed. as a zed main, ive never seen veigar wreck a game because of how easily shut down he is. you have to dominate the early game, its the same as nasus. if you let them free farm, of course it's going to be a bad game for you

100-0ing a lucian with triforce as veigar with just dfg ult? That's not a combo, and being 3 levels ahead doesn't really compensate for the fact that his ult did well over 1600 damage to an AD with like 880 ish AP whereas new veigar's ult barely breaks 1200 at 1.1k AP on an AD

OP does not mean unhealthy, it just means he is over the top in terms of his numbers.

It is also the fact that he is much harder to shut down in lane because of his new Q than before, so he gets to his crazy late game more reliably, even if it isn't as over the top as it used to be (what you have in that clip was pretty rare if you played against him right).
