but.. after testing damage... on the 100 mr target dummy (which i dont know a way to change the MR of)

i noticed that even at 100 mr STILL does more damage than void staff.

so I'm curious at what point does become more effective than ? (granted full build and you have the gold to complete both)

Unless you are at full build, you have to account for the massive price difference between the two.

item 3135 + item 1058 = 3900 G item 3089 = 3800 G

Void Staff is significantly more effective for most of the game against most targets. If you the better third/fourth item power-spike, build Void Staff.

This may differ for utility-oriented champions (i.e. Lulu, Karma) since magic penetration does nothing for their utility spells.

well just compare the prices first.

ofc Rabadons will do more damage on an 100 mr target, but with the same gold you can almost buy another item 1058 .

and it always depends on the enemies MR, your Base Stats and your current AP and AP Ratios when what is more efficient.

In your final build you should usually have both as APC.

when you need a quick answer to enemies stacking MR, go item 3135 first.

if you can afford the long Build Path, go item 3089 .

Without having done any calculations I guess buying Rabadons will help you more most of the time (especially for poking squishies and stronger heals) unless the enemy team is really stacking a lot of MR and you somehow only can get poke onto the tanks. But if you can spare the wards I would sell the jungle item and buy both.

On a 100 MR target, voidstaff makes the MR go from 100 to 65. means the damages you deal : (100/165)/(100/200)=1,21 So 21% damages gain. (it's totaly flat, does not depend on your AP or base damages or ratios).

your items gives you : 60 + 70 + 60 + 80 = 270 AP Add rabadon : 390 x 1.35 = 526 Add voidstaff : 340

526/340 = 1.54 : 54% more AP Depending on your base damages and ap ratio you can calculate the real damage gain. Use excel if you wanna know when it's more efficient to buy rabadon than voidstaff for a given AP and MR.
